  1. I know exactly where you are coming from. My surgery is for the 13th as well. My husband just had his surgery on the 6th and is complaining like a baby, but he's always like that. But don't be discouraged. I did the same thing, the day before his surgery on 6/5/08 he had his pre-op appointment with Dr. Felts and wanted me there so I went with him, and since I was there Dr. Felts wanted me to weigh in to see how I was doing on the diet and I had actually agained weight. Went from 245 to 249, I was drinking too much Water and still eating as usual and wasn't taking it seriously. Dr. Felts told me that I needed to lose 8 lbs before my surgery or he wasn't going to do it. I was like "Man, that's foul, and I'm paying for the surgery myself $15k for each of us". Then I realized that it wasn't just to see if I had the will power, but what doctor wants to say that he lost a patient. That's bad for business! Needless to say I starting taking the diet seriously, drinking my shakes 3 times per day and then having small meals and working out. Just walking at first on the treadmill then on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes more. My butt has never been more sore, but I can say that since this past Thursday that I have lost 7lbs. I am down to 242 and happier than I have ever been. Since my husband is on the liquid phase right now, I have been snacking on the Jello chocolate puddings and apple sauce, the three shakes per day, usually at 8am, 12pm and 4pm. and then when I get home after work, I have been eating chicken breasts, salmon (or other fish) grilled pork chop, or a small steak and broccoli, green Beans, cabbage and asparagus . I've been chewing alot of gum to take the edge off of eating and that is helping as well. I know that it's less than the 1200 calories recommended, but it's helping to speed up my metabolism and I feel alot more energetic. I just work out when I get home from work and it's also helping with the stress. The kids (4 and 6) watch tv and cheer Mommy on and I get my sweat on. Just don't give up, just make a "normal" plate for yourself, then get a saucer and cut that first plate in half and eat off the saucer. The other half will be your lunch for the next day. If you are craving sweets especially ice cream, because it's hott as hell in Texas, (I'm in DFW area) buy the skinny cow popsicles, only 50-80 calories each and call it a day. Just make sure you exercise, just walking at a brisk pace will do it, in this Texas heat! :ohmy:You still have 4 more days to pull this thing off. I know I am working on it. Just be sure to cut out the salt, which will make you retain water and that is the last thing that you want:thumbup: I know you can do it, email me on the 13th or 14th and let me know how your surgery went, so can swap stories. Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you.

My husband was just banded on Friday, June 6th, and yes he's complaining and fussing right about now (just like a man)HAHA. I am scheduled to be banded on June 13th, which is friday of next week by Dr. Frank Felts. Has anyone used him before? Looks like a lot of people have used Dr. Jay and Dr. Cribbins. Let me know. Jenn:confused:
  3. I read everyone's posts, which I really appreciate, I am scheduled to have my surgery on the 13th, but my husband has his on Friday:thumbup:. Then I realized that everyone responding was female. Any males want to comment on this one. Just interested to know how long it takes for men to recover so they can be "active". Since we are both having the surgery, I didn't want to put him or myself in any pain. 10 days isn't bad, we will just have to be creative I guess. But I would love to hear from the men.:cursing:
  4. I know, I am so excited. The little things are what I miss most, flying comfortabl on an airplane, buying clothes in a regular store, not just Lane Bryant, Dress Barn and Ashley Stewart. Going on trips and taking alot of pictures of ME! not everyone else. Playing with my kids as well. I have a 6 year old son and 4 year old daughter who mean the world to me, and it hit home one day when my daughter hugged me and she told me she loved hugging me because I was "smushy". I almost beat up a 4 year old that day. HAHA. But seriously, I want to be an active Mom with them. With 95+ degree heat in DFW, who wants to be wearing long sleeve shirts because you hate your arms, or my husband shorts because the ones I bought last summer no longer fit. I welcome being Thin, healthy and Hott! Can't wait until June 13, 2008. Friday the 13th will no longer be a bad day for me.
  5. Jeff, Not sure where you are located, but you can always try "Play it Again Sports". That is where I got one from. Mine was actually new, but I got a great price on it. I also got my recumbant bike from there too. The elliptical machine, I got a great deal on, only $2500 sounds like a lot, but it was a used one from a personal gym. The lady bought it and had a personal gym, she was a trainer, but never used that one. It was practically new and was commercial grade. I checked it out and those are the same ones that they have at 24 hour fitness. There's no excuse for me not working. As for you telling people, I know that I'm not telling anyone else, not even my twin brother. Just like a guy, no offense, he was 320lb, cut out whole milk and went to skim, started eating chicken and walking and is down to 240, which for him is great. He's 7lbs lighter than me right now. But you know something, when he see's me in December, I am going to be smoking hott. I can't wait. I wouldn't tell anyone else if you feel that they wouldn't support you or try and talk you out of it. It's a personal decision and if they have never been heavy, they will never understand.
  6. I am glad to know that everyone is happy and excited about their decision to have this surgery. I can't lie, it's hard to admit that you can't do this on your own, I haven't told many people about this. My sister knows, my husband of course, his surgery is this week and two friends. My husband has been tempted to eat, but hasn't! I am so proud of him. We just keep on talking about how hott we are going to be. We moved to DFW about two years ago and miss all of our friends in California. But we figured that we can go back to Cali in December and WOW everyone. It's not to be deceiving, but when everyone makes the remark "oh, you have such a pretty face". It makes you want to jab them in the eye with a pencil. Needless to say, I'm excited, nervous, anxious and about to be broke. We are self-pay and it will cost us $30k for both of our surgeries. But it's worth it. We have two kids to live for, let alone one another. I don't think I would have been able to do this if it wasn't for him. He's my rock! I can't wait to have my surgery and put my "ticker" up there and let everyone see the weight falling off of me. I'm committed to this thing, I have a bike, elliptical machine and a treadmill at the house. We have started working out on them while being on the pre-op diet and are doing great. Good luck to everyone. I will log on after my surgery and let you know how I feel. :cursing:

I have a question for you. My husband and I both are getting the surgery done this month, him on Friday and me on the 13th, but we are self-pay. Our insurance doesn't cover the procedure. Does ths mean that we will be able to deduct almost the full amount. He's not working now, hasn't been since November 2007. But we too had a bit of a windfall and the total cost for both of us will be $30,000k. That would be fantastic if it's true. Thanks, :smile2::thumbup:
  8. Ok, I know it's stupid, but I have never been very superstitious, but when I got my date, I was so excited. But I just realized this past week that it's Friday the 13th. My husband is getting his surgery this friday on the 6th and he's happy as heck. But I can't help but think that I need to change my date. I know that will probably push back the surgery maybe even a month. Give me some advice, should I change my date, or just push through this feeling that I am having. :confused2: My husband says for me to do whatever I want, but he won't even change dates with me, which is making me worry more. What do you think?
