  1. Thank you for yout advice Mimi, I think I will listen to you and schedule a fill for next week. Even though I hate seeing the silent disappointment in everyone there! ughhh
  2. Yay! I'm not alone feeling like a total failure. I was banded in July 2008 and have only lost 35 lbs (30 in the pre-op post-op diet) and feel horrible about being stumped in my weight loss. I self paid and will be paying for my surgery for the next 5 years and every time I write that check I feel like a complete idiot! On Monday I decided I will not give up! I am in my second day of a liquid diet and I'm hoping seeing some weight come off will motivate me to keep at it. I need a fill but want to loose a few pounds before I come in for one (I too don't want to be a negative statistic in his books) so I have set a goal to lose 15 lbs before I go in for a fill. It's a great feeling knowing I'm not the only slow loser. We can do it darn it!
  3. I bought them at CVS - over the counter. The chocolate ones do not taste bad at all, I don't sip them though I take it like a shot and I hardly taste it at all.
  4. Well, I bought them and started them yesterday. I bought the chocolate flavor and it is not bad at all! I gulp it and then drink some cofee or juice and it's fine. So far they have worked great! I give it 2 thumbs up!
  5. I called my doctor's office and they told me to try warm liquids for today (chamomille tea) and to go to their office tomorrow if it doesn't get better. I tried sipping some broth while walking around here in the office and it seems to have gone down. If I still can't get anyhting down, I will go to the drs first thing tomorrow morning. I don't want to spend a weekend like this!
  6. What will likely happen is you will "stick this through" and end up in the emergency room over the weekend! Call and get a slight unfill now! You can get dehydrated fairly quickly! Thank you, I think I will do that. I don't want a visit to the ER!
  7. I went for my 6th fill yesterday and I was able to drink the water they gave me and that afternoon I was able to drink about half of a SlimFast shake. From that point forward I have not been able to drink any liquids! I have thrown up everything I drink and I am worried that I might need an un-fill. Do you think if I stick this thriough, the band will losen a bit? I imagine as I lose weight from not being able to gte anyhting down, the band will losen a bit, right? Should I give it a couple of days to see? Thank you!
  8. Hi, Wow! Your post really made my day. I am 35, I live in Frisco TX, and my goal is to be in the 120s. I am really inspired by your progress!! What do you normally eat?
  9. I was banded on June 27, 2008. I had my 4th fill last week and I am finally getting restriction *yay*!! I lost 24 lbs in the whole preop liquid diet phase but since then it has been up and down 3 lbs!!! Is the weight going to come off faster now that I have restriction? Some of my firends that had the surgery told me they didnt start losing weight considerably until their 6th fill. I would love to hear experienced bandsters tell me when their weight began to fall off. Thanks!
  10. Surgery on Friday, back to work on Wednesday - desk job. I have never thrown up and I am 3 months into it! Good luck!
  11. I was banded in June 27 and so far I had only gotten one fill. I lost 23 lbs pre-op and have not lost anything else since then!!! At first I was very careful with my food choices, I did the liquid thing to the tee, but now that I can have normal food I have been trying different foods and I can eat EVERYTHING, I mean, cake, bread, burgers, fries, all of the stuff you are not supposed to be able to eat with the band. I also feel that I can eat big quantities of stuff. Will this get better with my second fill?? If can't wait to feel restriction!!!
  12. Thank you guys, I am happy to know there are several of us in bandster hell =). I guess we just need to hang in there making good food choices. I hope this upcoming fill helps me a little bit. Have you strated excercising yet? My doctor said 6 weeks but I am wondering if I could walk in the treadmill for 30-45 mins. Any thoughts?
  13. I am starting to worry.... so far I have lost 20lbs but since I started eating solids I have slowly figured out that I can eat about anyhting (I haven't tried breads or steak, I'm too scared) and now my weight goes up a few pounds and then comes off again and I am starting to panick. The fluctuation is just 2 lbs but I can't seem to get over the 20 lb mark. My first fill is next week but I have heard that sometimes it can take up to 6 fills to give you the right restriction and I am worried I will be yo-yoing til then. I try to eat healthy, but there is a difference between eating just liquids and mushy stuff to eating real food!! Please tell me this first fill will make a bit of difference... Also, I don't know what size my band is, I have read the forums and I see that there are several sizes, I have the realize band, does anyone know if it comes in diff sizes??
  14. I don't remember a thing!!! Don't eeven worry about it!! You will do great!!
  15. Hi, don't give up. I also was told by the general doctor that I would never get approved by the insurance company because my BMI was too low and I had no comorbidities. I cried for a while and then decided I was going to do it anyways and applied for a loan. I got approved in 5 minutes!! I used CareCredit but there are several available. I had my surgery on June 27th and I am down 20lbs!! I will be paying for this surgery for 7 years but I figured I am worth it. Don't give up, you can always go via the self paid option, think of it as an investment, the payments are way less than what you would normally pay for a car or furniture. (My payments will be $190/month). Don't give up!!!
