Congrats on your bypass! No worries - thin liquids will pass easily through your pouch. I was able to drink pretty large swallows a day or 2 after surgery. Once you transition to soft foods, you WILL feel the restriction!

Refried Beans with melted cheese on top was a fave.

Years before I had VSG, I tried the Keto diet. Gained 7 lbs. in one week, so I went off it. I am almost 2 years post-op and do not use the word “diet” for myself, as diets have always failed me. I eat intuitively and so far, it seems to be working for me.

From day one post-op I was able to sleep flat on my back and sides.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years pre-VSG. After VSG, about when I got down to BMI 26 or 27, I was having a lot of apneic “events”, so my sleep doc had me in for another sleep study: this one was more sophisticated. It turned out I have CENTRAL sleep apnea, not OBSTRUCTIVE sleep apnea, so, I’m going to be on the machine indefinitely, as central apnea isn’t really related to being overweight, as I understand it. The problem’s in the brain 🤪. I’m just happy to be able to sleep, even with a mask!

I had a surgery several years ago (unrelated to bariatric) and was unable to urinate afterwards. Had to be catheterized a few days after surgery. Apparently it’s not uncommon. They removed the catheter a few days later and the plumbing worked fine.

Steak, baked potato with lots of butter, salad, several glasses of red wine. Cake for dessert. 😉

I had surgery in July 2020 and last night was able to eat just one of small sized soft tacos. I was VERY full!

Thank you for the calculator @elidh. I got my surgery 2/7/22 so When told I wouldn’t lose weight I felt heartbroken. My BMI is 29.2

I was "fortunate" that I was too large to fit on a home scale (or most doctors scales) so I could only weigh at my Doc's office at follow-ups. As a result I didn't see any stalls or phantom weight gains, so the scale never messed with me, so I was never tempted to "change things up" to get the scale moving. I just stayed on plan.
Eventually, when I could weigh at home, I did it for a couple weeks until the novelty wore off, then I went back to only weighing at follow-ups then only annual physicals.
You don't necessarily need a scale for success.
My weight ruled my life for so long that I resolved after surgery I would stay on plan and let my weight take care of itself.

Was your test for Covid or pregnancy?

sugar free fudgesicles (40 calories each) were my fave dessert post-op. I would usually eat two 😏. I don’t mind artificial sweeteners, but some do.
