Hi guys! I think I’m an August person, too, although I don’t have an official date yet. Just had my second weigh in and I’m down 16 lbs. none of my clothes feel any looser, but that’s more because I only wear black leggings. 😂

I decided in a day too and the following day I did the seminar online. Unfortunately, I can't get into the surgeon as quickly.

I am so excited! So... my height in this site and with my surgeon is listed at 5'4" as my surgeon rounds down (and here half inches are not possible to enter). But my REAL height is between 5'4.5" to 5'4.75" according to all my other doctor's offices and what I have always known it to be. So, periodically I put my real height into the National Institute of Health BMI calculator. Today I put in 5'4.5" in, and that has me at 24.9 for my bmi... which is the highest of the NORMAL WEIGHT BMI's! I am 12.6 pounds below my doctors goal weight of 160. And I am 12.4 pounds from my personal goal weight of 135. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to lose the last 12.4 pounds. I do hope I get there, but I am thrilled where I am now too... so any weight lost at this point and beyond is simply "bonus" for me.
I will be 5 months post op tomorrow. I have lost a total of 46 inches as of 2/1/2020 (all measurements together, neck, chest, waist, hips, thighs and biceps). I wear mostly women's size 8 in pants, but I do have a couple size 6 pants that fit and look fine. I wear mostly women's medium tops, but some are looking a bit big and I can wear SOME size smalls. My weight loss has truly slowed down. I go many days with a 2-3 pound fluctuation, and then a little drop, then many days again with 2-3 pounds fluctuation. While I hate that the loss is slower, I know it is normal at this point. And the inches are still coming off, which is great. I am also so much more active than I was this time last year.

Congrats! I only have to lose one more pound and I go from being obese to merely overweight, and I consider THAT an accomplishment! But to be normal, WOW!

True story. I visited a friend of mine who invited me to visit her Catholic church, so I went. Catholics believe in something called Transubstantiation, which means the wine and unleavened bread are the literal blood and body of Christ. Well, when the congregation went up to receive Communion, I just sat there. My friend asked me, "Aren't you going to join us?" I leaned over and whispered, "No, I am not into cannibalism..." She was laughing so hard she sat out herself, since it would be rude to laugh in the priest's face...

@mello1 It may be because Insurance is covering mine. Several other people I know that have had weight loss surgery have done it the same way I am. As long as the insurance company is paying and I have to pay very very little, I don't mind.

My job is relatively sedentary and I have the option to work from home. I was thinking of taking a week to a week and a half off, and then working from home for another 2 weeks or so. My plan is to start working from home as soon as 8 am able, even if it is only half days. I have no back up, other than my supervisor and my work can't sit while I am out. He is happy with thos compromise and I know won't push me to come back before I am ready. But he also knows I love my job and will be back as soon as I can.

My weigh in are at my primary doc which is in a different practice that the surgeon. My primary did mention that based on my labs, additional things might be required, but since I am fairly healthy, she didn't think so. I am trying to get my initial consult with the surgeon moved up as April is so far away.

I don't know how much you can actually do - with 100 lbs to lose, you're probably going to have some. If you're young, you'll have more elasticity than someone's who's old so you may fare a bit better, but you'll still likely have some. Some people say lifting weights can help a bit, too. The woman I've been co-presenting with to the pre-op groups for the last three years started about where you are. She said she has some saggy skin, but I can't tell at all (she said it's on her abdomen and her thighs) - so it may be pretty easy to hide (mine was, and I lost over 200 lbs, so I had quite a bit of it - but no one knew it was there besides me)

Well I got my initial consultation with the surgeon set up but it isn't until April 2nd!!!! Has anyone else had to wait that long?
    In addition, my insurance requires
6 weight check visits with my primary doc 1 nutritional consultation Psychological evaluation At least my primary doc knows the process and said my visit on 2/19 will count as the 1st weigh in. Based on what I have seen, this is pretty standard. My letter from the surgeon (and my calculations) put the surgery cost at $520, so I guess I can't complain about the length of time. So it is looking like I will have surgery sometime in August or September. Just in time to not be able to enjoy my husband's favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.

Make sure you know if you need to lose weight or just maintain. I didn't have to lose weight, just needed to not gain any. My surgeon wanted me to lose 77 lbs so surgery would be easier on me, so I did lose weight during my visits.

I had to wait 6 weeks from my final weigh in and insurance approval to my surgery work-up this Thursday. The wait was hard when all I wanted to do was GO GO GO! Yet, I've tried to use the time to continue progressing on my weight loss and exercise habits. It's still hard. Coming on here and watching everyone's successes and challenges has been very helpful too. Come out and talk to folks on the forums when the waiting seems to be just dragging on.

As I mentioned on another thread here, I'm going to sign a form to decline anesthesia.

My holistic wiccan healer is giving me a potion of mineral Water and a pinch of jasmine to help deal with any discomfort.
I also have a special chant to drive away negative thoughts.

When people asked, that I didnt want to tell, I gave outrageous stories like I had to be separated from my conjoined twin, or my goldfish had surgery so I had to take care of her. Hi everyone. I had an appointment with my primary doctor today, and she agreed that bariatric surgery is something I should pursue, especially since insurance will cover almost all of it. She said that she wants me to talk to the doctor about the duodenal switch surgery, as she feels it would benefit me the most. The surgeon's office at my hospital said I have to either go to their seminar or watch their video and do their quizzes online before I can make an appointment. I finished those today and now they are supposed to call within 48 hours to schedule the appointment. I'm excited by nervous at the same time.
