Coronavirus: to mask or not to mask?
Please please always mask!! There are a lot of us that are high risk and they really don't know the long term effects of covid. Masking isn't a big deal and everyone, everywhere are wearing them so it's normal ... at least here in Michigan. We all buckle our seatbelts so what's the difference? We do it to protect ourselves and others !

I don't know what to do first!
The same thing happened to me, got a call two weeks before surgery just after things started opening after covid. It got postponed two months. It'll never be the perfect time. Go get it done. Things will work out. All you need to get started are protein drinks and water.

1 year after gastric sleeve problems...
it sounds like other medical conditions have been ruled out so a nutritionist is a great idea. She can get you on a balanced diet. Don't forgot to drink lots of water. Dehydration can cause lots of issues. Hope you feel better soon.

Energy Levels After WLS
I hope you aren't reducing medications without dr. approval or based on one reading? I'm reducing slowly per Dr. instructions. Taking two weeks worth of am and pm readings then reporting into her before we reduce further.

Getting rid of old/large clothes - too soon?
I managed though the summer with what I had in the larger sizes. Don't we all have assorted sizes? I just tossed some and donated some items. I still have a few items thinking it'll get warmer. Wishful thinking. Today I started a new "donate" pile of fall clothes as I try things on and will toss items that really are not worth anything. I went to Kohl's last week and bought two of everything and I love my new stuff , but will wait until I get closer to goal to buy more. Nothing better than a bra that fits!

Feeling down lately
Funny about weight loss. I've lost 53 pounds but it seems like I've lost it everywhere but my belly. So frustrating. I was I had taken measurements before I started. We all have bad days, even before surgery.

Gastric Sleeve - Outpatient
Wow, outpatient ... pain, effects of sedation, and a long drive. They told me one hour also for the surgery and it was two hours then there was the 60 minutes of pre-op prep. I had laparoscopic and was in recovery for 3 hours before I got moved to a room. I needed help the first day to get out of bed to get to the bathroom so glad I was there. Good luck.

salads
I'm wondering how people count calories for a salad. There are so many small amounts of different things, do you measure every item or guestimate the whole salad.

Anyone here who had surgery in their 60's?
Welcome to the over 60 club! Because of the cost, I had to wait until Medicare kicked in. The surgery was very easy for me with not one post surgery food issue or pain. I'm down 55 pounds in 3 months and feel great. I'm realistic about loose skin and the shifting of weight at this age. I'll never have flat abs and I am more concerned about the loose skin on my face. I'm hoping some botox and fillers will help at some point. I have had to reduce contact with a few people who weren't supportive as they also have weight issues. I gladly give up a few of them to be able to sit on the floor comfortably with my young grandchildren. And I've been able to reduce my blood pressure medication in half and hope to stop it all together down the road. And I had the sleeve because I want to be able to enjoy some foods and a glass of wine at some point and don't need to be thin, but do want to be healthy and able to do more things that I enjoy that I can't do now with the extra weight.

Caring for children post op
How old are the kids? Will you have to lift them into a car seat or booster seat? In/out of the tub? Will they need a loving lifting hug? I watch my two grandchildren often and wasn't able to help with several of the above items and couldn't do anything with the infant.

June 2020 Sleevers, how are you doing?
I haven't had one single problem... until today when there was a handful of hair in the drain! It was awful! I know it's normal, but I've had other surgeries and didn't have this problem so it must be because of the rapid weight loss. I'm down 50 pounds . I am doing everything by the book, eating , vitamins, water, exercise. Very frustrating!! But, I feel great!

How do you know you are ready
Just my opinion, but we all find reasons not to take care of ourselves. Will there ever be a perfect time?

Calories Week 6, 7, etc.
I'm 3 months out and just increased to 800-900 calories a day. I'm doing exactly what my dietician instructs. She says I won't lose as quickly as the first few months, but I'm ok with that. I've not had any issues with gas, pain, bloating or anything else so she knows what she's doing. She said I'll stay at these calories for the next three months then we'll see how I am doing.
