1. My, oh my...how the posts above describe my journey! Dear hubby has lovingly (but, a tad frustrated) pointed out that I’m still taking too large of bites and eating too quickly...I seem to start out focussed, prepared, but drift—and well, there I go, mindless eating. Mindless eating was okay pre WLS (actually, it was NOT okay at all, but.) but I find there’s no margin of error (for me) now. Even a few too large, or too fast, bites creates that full in the throat, nauseated, clammy feeling....and then I feel wiped out for a good while.
Because hubs has always been tall and naturally thin, he’s puzzled at my slow learning. He’ll say something like “Darlin, you know this happens every time...you have to slow down, be mindful, tiny bites until your body is ready to accept”. This is his normal, but obviously easier said than done por moi.
We are learning, we just didn’t expect it would be this. Lol. Celebrate our self transformations! Baby steps...We will come through this. Love, hugs and hang in there!

Have you tried putting your food in a blender? I know it sounds gross but I made grilled balsamic chicken and tried to take tiny bites and it hurt all the way down. I put the chicken in the food processor, then chewed and swallowed and it worked like magic. And it didn’t take away any flavor. I’m supposed to start solid foods on Monday but my stomach is definitely not ready.

2. I know! I love it! We’re so used to cleaning the plate. I’ve been using little bowls and little plates.
Hey Cammy! How many oz are you eating in one sitting now? Today I ate 4oz of baked Beans and I'm still in a stall. Just wondering if I'm eating too much and since we're basically sleeve twins figured I'd ask you.

3. Hi guys

I’m Celebrating a new weight bracket today!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I never really set myself a goal as such but I always said around 9-10 stone (126 - 140lbs)⁣⁣
& today I weighed 10 stone 10lbs! (150lbs) ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So close to those goals now! However, I won’t be weighing myself again until 1st April 2020! ⁣⁣I decided to only get the scales out once a month from now on. I was starting to get really obsessed and panicky about the numbers on the scale all of the time so I thought it’s best for my mental health to see them only once a month.

Plus, weight fluctuates so weighing daily is just silly at this point in my journey really!

Yesterday the skirt was a NSV for me. Been waiting to wear one of these since 2013 lol!

You look amazing! My goal is also 120-140 lbs. Can I ask how long did it take you to get there? And did you excercise heavily? I'm 21 days post op and have been stalled for two weeks.

4. here's my before and after (headless).
I wouldn't worry about being malnourished yet. You probably have Vitamin stores to last awhile. Just focus on getting your Protein and fluids in at this point. Oh - and keep on top of your (vitamin and mineral) supplements, too.

Wow you look fantastic! I hope my results are as good as yours.

5. Sorry for the cancellations that keep coming up. Keeping my positive attitude because I know you all will get your surgeries in the proper time. It just wasn't in your plans to delay and I understand that.
I was originally scheduled for my surgery on 1/31/20, my son was shot on 1/21/20 and died on 1/22/20. He was going to be with me during my surgery and be my support and care system. I don't want to get into that, I'm sharing to say that sometimes we have to go with the flow and things aren't always in our control. Stay the course and if you are dedicated to your wls, it is going to happen for you. We will be right here cheering you on.
Oh goodness my deepest condolences for your loss. Praying for more and more peace and comfort for you during this time. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us here and being an encouragement and support. You are an amazing woman!

6. One thing that's true for me is the 2-3 week stall. I'm not going to get my nerves in a bundle, 15 days out and I'm 12 pounds down, I'll take it. I have my ideas for this wls journey, I'm going to release control and go with the flow.
I think we already talked/replied to each other about this but I'm not 100% certain. Either way I'm right there with you. 16 days out, 10lbs down and stalled for the last several days. I'm just going to ride the wave. I can only eat about 1.5 -2 oz at a time so it's not my intake. We have to just wait it out.

My lower right is where I feel it most too. I bought a belly band from Amazon to make it easier to hold in that area. I am 5 days post op now. I still have no appetite and I try to get in as much fluids as i can but it's no where near the recommended amount. I was in a lot of pressure pain in the hospital. I took the pain meds for about 2 days but that was it. I started doing more little things around the house like sweeping and laundry. It takes me longer but I feel better moving then laying down.
I heard many people like the as popsicles, so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on some tomorrow.

I had that feeling one day in the middle of my belly...it was so weird. It came from me trying to get dressed too fast. But I remember reading others having the same experience. I used my abdominal binder or the little heart pilllow from the hospital. Hopefully that belly band will help you. But I would strongly advise you to take it easy and give your body time to heal. If you are feeling pain your body is telling you something. I promise after 2 weeks you will feel much better but still need rest. Whenever my abdominal area starts aching I stop and have a seat. Also I was still taking Tylenol 5 days post op. My first week and half was really really tough for me. I experienced alot of pain and slept alot. Please just take it easy. You'll be up and around in no time.

8. Thanks to all of the well wishers! I'm back home now, so it's Day 1 Post - Op. Got a chance to walk around twice before I left and progressed better than I expected so far.
So to give others an idea of the experience -- those who are still waiting -- I want to share the following:
My surgery was around 8:30 am -- I was the first of the day. Even though I had taken a few things with me, I didn't use any of it.
I had to wash my belly with this towel with special solution on it and I was given a shot to prevent blood clots. I was rolled in the OR where it was very bright and cold as a refrigerator! They gave me lanocane? before they gave me the profocol to put me to sleep.
My surgery took a little longer because the surgeon had to remove old scar tissue from when I had my gallbladder removed and apparently I was a bleeder, but they didn't have to give me a transfusion.
In addition to the RNY, the surgeon repaired the hiatal hernia.
The hardest part after surgery was no drinking of anything for 24 hours. They wouldn't let me use this dry mouth spray that I had. They did give me liquid Tylenol for the pain and injection shots to combat nausea.
My legs were also wrapped with this device to promote circulation and no blood clots. I didn't give a lot of sleep last night because I was uncomfortable in that bed -- not made for tall people for sure.
I walked around the corridor twice yesterday and my sister patted my back to make sure the gas broke up.
They made 8 incisions into me because of the issues I described above, and the worst pain is my lower right abdomen. It feels like muscle pain mostly.
I do have some pain in my shoulders (the surgeon told me to expect that) and so now I'm trying to get all of the liquids in. I feel like I want to clug a lug, but! I know better than to do that. So now it's on to Day 1 post op liquids, practicing my breath and walking around the apartment,

So excited your home now! Thanks for the update. Enjoy a good nights sleep hopefully.

9. I am 15 days post op and decided to ride my bike a little with my dog running beside me. It lasted about 20 mins. How long after surgery were you guys released to excercise? I was exhausted afterward but it was such fun. Just curious about others experiences.

10. hello all,
I had an eventful day. I went back to work today—my first day back after two weeks out. Well all was fine until around lunch when I fainted at my desk. The manager wanted to call an ambulance and I was like oh heck naw!! I’m not going to a hospital while this virus is out there!
So I called my surgeon’s office and they told em to come in. I had to get my Mom to meet me halfway because I got dizzy while driving...so scary!!
They gave me fluids and Vitamins intravenous and sent me home for another week. Two weeks was def not long enough for my recovery. I know we’re all different, but so happy to have a surgeon who cares!

Girlnextdoor00 I had the sleeve on March 3rd and yes I felt the internal pulling of my incisions! Oh it lasted Into the second week! My only advice is just because aware of your movements and take things slow. I hope it gets better soon.

@mello1 thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery! Sending you positive vibes!

KokoA That really sucks that your surgery was postponed especially after doing pre-op stuff!! I too had a postponement although mine was for insurance reasons but it was still put off for almost two more months. I finally had it March 3rd when my original surgery date was January 14th. I hope it rescheduled soon for you.

asnirak I’m not sure how many days out you are but just hold on!!! Everyday your new insides will get a little bit better. I wish I had more words but I’m two weeks post-op today so I know the first few days suck! What about sugar free Jello and /or sugar free popsicles?? I lived on sf popsicles for the first 4-5 days post surgery.
Oh my girlie! I'm so happy your ok and your surgeons were responsive. Yeah sounds like you definitely need more time off.

11. Thanks for all of the well wishes. Had my surgery this morning and all is well and recovering. Been up and walking already. Moderate pain due to incisions and hernia repair, but I feel blessed. Thanks again and I’m sorry for all the other March cancellations. I got in under the wire let me tell you. Hospital now on lockdown.
Welcome to the Losers Bench!!! So happy to hear your doing well!

12. Hi all, looks like my surgery may not go ahead due to the coronovirus and limited travel in Europe. I am really devastated because I have been so anxious, took 3 years to take the plunge and book the surgery and flights to have it almost cancelled.
Oh no so sorry to hear that! Hopefully you'll still be able to get it. Praying for you. Keep us updated.

13. I promise it gets better!! Just keep at it, keep walking!

For soft foods, I loved refried Beans with a little cheese and sour cream. You can Google buffalo chicken puree, that's yummy too. Or ricotta bake. I had trouble with creamy Soups because they went through too quickly and I got the sweats and nauseous but I could do pureed veggie Soup or Tomato Soup.< br>
I'm 7 weeks out and eating normal food. It feels like it will never happen but it does! I promise. (Still can't do chicken breast but love me some chicken thighs!).

Thanks luv! I'm going to definitely try the buffalo chicken puree. I've never been a fan of refried beans.

14. y Guys! Im 2 weeks post op and finally in my soft foods phase (YAY!) but I can barely eat 1 oz before I feel sorta wiped out. Also everything I eat or drink gives me gas. I'm only eating what is on the list - tuna, yogurt, applesauce, Premier Protein drinks, Water. Just looking for some suggestions and advice on how you guys navigated this phase. I really want to just EAT! Lol! I literally cant eat till satisfied and it's getting a tad bit frustrating. Any encouragement is welcome!
