  1. I got mine from Lauren’s Hope. I’ve attached pictures but you can customize the info on most of the ones they offer. Sign up for emails and get a discount. Reasons for one include no blind NG as it can perforate the stomach wall because your anatomy has changed. NSAIDS like ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding, and sugar can lead to dumping syndrome. Also, mine says LSG instead of VSG because they’re different scarring patterns.

  2. I didn’t have much gas pain after my sleeve but definitely earlier last year when I had my appendix removed. Walking really helped, like a lot! I walked around the unit maybe 10 times in hrs 12-24 after surgery. And yes they release the gas but some does get trapped and some use heated and humidified gas as it helps to prevent the cellular death that causes the referred shoulder pain. If you’re worried about it, ask your doctor to go over step by step what will happen in your surgery including gas use.

  3. Mine requires the 6 months of monitoring before surgery. I lost 60lbs from when I started to surgery day. However the program that I am part of included several visits with a nutritionist along with- cardiologist, pulmonologist, physical therapist, psychologist, along with any testing they needed and an EGD. So for me it wasn’t just the diet monitoring.

I do agree with others that I would ask your insurance company which BMI they use for surgery and the criteria may be different if you have weight related co-morbidities.

  4. I read a lot of threads that seemed to have a variation of stall somewhere between 2-6 weeks post op. We just completely changed the physiology of our body’s digestive system so our body is trying to avert crisis while rebooting to our new normal.

It can be really disheartening to not lose anything for a week or two right after surgery but stay diligent, drink the Water and get the Protein that you’re body needs to heal!
