SO MANY QUESTIONS
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to kritterk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question 1- I struggled. There was a time right at the beginning of the pandemic (1st surgery was Dec 2019) where all I could drink besides hot tea was grape powderade zero (hated artificial grape pre-op) and everywhere was out. I distinctly remember crying in my car, like full on grief crying. I had buyers remorse for several weeks after that wondering if I’d ever be normal again. Be prepared with emotional/ therapeutic support if you’re already battling disordered eating. Question 2- A dry cough is indeed a symptom of gerd. For me, it’s now hiccups. If you’ve ever heard those honking plastic chickens just know that’s what I sound like. I did end up having a revision to RNY and hiatal hernia repair. They don’t remove your stomach, it’s still in there, they just bypass most of it and attach it in a y shape to another part of the intestines while keeping a small portion attached. The only reason I have hiccups again is because I have another hiatal hernia that needs repaired. Would I do it all over again knowing the journey I’ve been on? Absolutely. Would I also be more prepared mentally? Also, absolutely. -

Zoo day (yesterday) and zoo food. Our zoo has several encounters and walkthrough areas- including kangaroos. It’s honestly one of my favorite places and I’d go every week if I lived a smidge closer. -

I switched from baritastic to the “Eat this much” app/website. I like it better because sometimes decisions fatigue is real and it can plan my meals based on my allergies and daily macros (and load my groceries into instacart or Amazon) or I can add in my own food options. Also, I get more detailed information with regard to nutrition. (Pictures are nutrition info from yesterday) It did take some getting used to and they do have a premium version but I can’t remember what the difference is between that and the free one. 🤷♀️ -

Breakfast and dinner from yesterday. Breakfast- one egg, white bread toast, 1/2 avocado (only ate 1/4 avocado total), water sautéed tomatoes (tbsp of water in pan as the tomatoes start to color and release moisture), and blackberries. Dinner- green beans, mushrooms, onions and tofu in a peanut sauce. -

One last bowl of hospital cafeteria food- tomato soup mixed with corn and bell peppers. Sister was moved to rehab for therapy! Also, thought someone might like these food prep ideas. -

I mean we are close and she used to watch my kids when I worked nights. But the first thing she really wanted when they removed the vent was food. And called her nurse a smartass. 😂 So… at least her sense of humor is intact. Physical therapy has been great with her the past few days. She’s able to sit up more without pain and is trying to move her legs more but that’s still a struggle. Bonus food I’ve had this weekend that wasn’t hospital food! Chicken fried cauliflower rice and a couple salads. -

Sorry I’ve been missing but my baby sister had mini strokes on top of sepsis a couple weeks ago and since I speak “medicalese” (per my mother) I took hospital duties which meant a lot of unseasoned soups, green beans and too many coffees and snacks. But now that she’s awake and learning to feed herself again I can step back a bit. (It’s been stressful!) Anyway, todays micro pizza slices (sauce cup for reference- didn’t use) because the restaurant didn’t deliver my salad. 😞 -

Dinner last night. I just couldn’t be bothered with anything else. 260 calories for the chips and about 45 for the salsa. -

Vegan calzones with diced onion, baby bellas, and green bell peppers mixed with chopped up vegan breakfast sausage and marinara in homemade dough. It made 8. I’m eating 1, meal prepping 2 for lunches this week, and freezing the rest. -

I’ve just decided today that my kids are lame-o’s when it comes to food and going places. We went for Mexican for dinner and y’all, the amount of “I don’t like this. Can we go home?” 🙃😒 I need lunch date people. Or maybe I should try dating. 😬 -

Whew. I was worried there’s for a second when you said chux, like “what is she doing with bed pads that I need to be concerned for her health?!” (The picture is what I thought you meant. 😂) Also, I grew up calling those cloths handi-wipes because they’re handy for your hands but I can see how you could chuck them after you’re done using them. -

@GreenTealael will be happy to know that I finally started working on that budget blog. As such all the meals I’ve posted in the last week have been part of it. 😂 Surprise! 🎉 Spoilers though- it’s $35US average a week, not just $35 a week because I needed some sanity the first couple weeks. Anyway, the first picture is some prep work- tepache, pickled daikon, and pickled tomatoes. The second is tonight’s dinner of kimchi scrambled eggs, soy marinated eomuk and mushrooms, and some of the pickled daikon. -

Spoiler alert- I had a repeat of the same for lunch but with peanut butter and my snack was a piece of bread. This however, is dinner- curried soya chunks with bread because I was too lazy to make rice. Also, just look at this bread! 😍 -

Stress test 1 year post op
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to OkieDokieNawan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depending on age, risk factors, cardiovascular health, and doctor discretion stress tests are ideal. They let your doctor know if there’s further issues that need to be addressed with more invasive procedures. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. -

The big cheese changes every year. Last year it was a sharp yellow cheddar. They have cheese day where they cut the cheese and have a sampling while packaging it for sale. -

Went to one of my favorite places today l- the international grocery store! It’s about an hour drive from my house but it’s the only place I can buy 50lbs of good quality rice for $25US anywhere near me. Get a load of all that cheese and olives! Also, we spend most of your time wandering around the Asian aisles. I can take more pictures of what I picked up later but those cheese wafers definitely came home with me! -

Lunch- cucumber sandwich with a parfait of yogurt, peaches, hemp seed, flax seed, raisins, and honey. Dinner- as listed. A whole serving of chicken was 8oz and I knew I couldn’t eat it. The Indian chicken is seasoned with equal amounts cumin, dried ground coriander, turmeric, curry powder(not in recipe), garlic powder(not in recipe), and onion powder, then with salt, pepper, and 1.5tbsp olive oil to coat. I baked thin slices at 400F (200-205C) for about 18 minutes. The original recipe called for pan frying in more olive oil. -
