  1. Oh wow, that's awesome! I get to have 1 piece of fruit and a small dinner along with 3 protein shakes. I thought mine was generous! I'm starting my pre-op diet today too. Good luck to us!!! ☺️
  2. Today I start my 2 week pre-op diet! I’m super lucky in that I get to have 1 serving of fruit at lunch & a small high protein/low carb meal for dinner along with 3 shakes a day. I know 14 days will come quick but right now it seems a million years away!
  3. Ok, thank you! I’ll do the same.
  4. I’m mixing in unflavored protein powder & an individual Crystal Light water powder and I can’t tell any difference in taste.
  5. When I add protein powder to my water & shake it, I get a lot of foam. Do I have to drink the foam too to get in all the protein the drink is supposed to supply? This feels like a really silly question!
  6. Thanks for all the feedback, y’all! Now that I’ve been given a surgery date (Sept. 9th) I have a bit more energy. I think my adrenaline is kicking in from being in “preparing for surgery” mode. ?
  7. I feel silly asking this. I love fruity lip balm & I use it a few times everyday. Has anyone found that fruity or other food flavored (cinnamon roll, etc.) lip balms make you crave food? I’m wondering if I should switch to unflavored.
  8. That last line got me, I laughed way too hard! ? Hey, I probably burned a few calories, yay!
  9. Thank you everyone so, so much. You have all made me feel so much better. Honestly, your kind words brought tears to my eyes and now I'm smiling again. ? We only have 19 employees & that's including our finance manager and janitor. There isn't even a HR department to go too! My director is a very kind soul but she hates confrontation. I'd have to go to our library board & that would cause a HUGE stink so I'm just going to power through the next 2 1/2 weeks and enjoy the month I don't have to see their faces! They will certainly see a different co-worker when I return. I will do as y'all suggested & not let their attitudes effect me in the slightest. Thank you for the heads up about relationships changing too. I have read about that & I've talked that over with my husband. We are going to do our best to recognize issues before they turn in to full-fledged problems. Knowing y'all are here to support me means more than I can say.
  10. Hi! I'm having the sleeve done. So excited!
  11. Although I read about other people in our lives not being supportive or downright jealous of us having our surgeries, it sure hurts when it happens to you. I'm especially surprised with how my co-workers are treating me. I'm a happy-go-lucky person who's always willing to lend a hand to people I care about & I am very tenderhearted as well so this is hitting me especially hard. My co-workers are being rude when asked about covering my shifts while I'm off for surgery. I work at a little library with a small amount of staff and our jobs are really not that stressful so it's not like they are going to have to expend a whole bunch of energy or break a sweat working my shift. A group of co-workers even approached our director expressing "concern" that the surgery is too dangerous and that I shouldn't have it done which really baffled me since no one ever brought that up with me. Now I know that they just don't want to cover for me & are worried I'll be out longer that anticipated. I came in on Monday walking on a cloud because I finally got my surgery date & no one could be bothered to show any enthusiasm at all. I have a co-worker who I've worked with for 5 years & I considered her to be one of my best friends. I've planned her work bridal shower and baby showers. I went to the hospital to see her first-born. She gripes constantly about her husband & I'm right there supporting her. We've done plenty of stuff together socially as well, so she's not just a work friend. In the past I've asked her for very small favors here & there and she's rarely helped me out but I asked so infrequently that it never really bothered me. I, of course, have helped her happily whenever she needed me. Well, her true colors are shining now that the surgery is approaching. I've been careful not to talk her ear off about the surgery because I can see that being super annoying. Whenever I bring it up now she just grunts in response and goes right back to talking about herself. I've asked her for two small favors in regards to the surgery and she's too inconvenienced to do either one. I am really, really hurt by her actions. Another friend is acting jealous & responded to the news of my surgery with "I'll be interested to see how it goes for you". I haven't told friends on social media yet and now I'm definitely not going to. This will be a road I walk down with my husband on one side & my mom on the other cheering me on. I'll be just fine and I will succeed in spite of everyone's attitudes towards this huge step in my life. I'm really glad I found this community & I'm really glad you've read this far! Thanks for letting me vent!
  12. For me it was a week & 2 days. I hope you hear back quickly!
  13. Congrats! You are going to do great!
  14. I'm having the sleeve as well! We'll be able to celebrate our surgery birthdays together ?
  15. Hi! My surgery date is September 9th. I'm so happy to be a part of one of these threads now! I'd love to have some surgery buddies too. ?
  16. I won't miss the bruises I get when sitting in a lawn chair because I'm squished in so tight. I won't miss needing a shower directly after my shower because I've sweated so much after drying my hair.
  17. I finally called the surgeon's office this morning & received my surgery date of September 9th. I'll be counting the days! It's time to get my head in the right place, purchase all the necessities & do the prep work, as well as get my mess of a house cleaned up! Woo hoo! DwGirl, any update on getting your phone call? Thanks for all the support, y'all!
  18. I've really had a hard time getting the way notifications work for some reason so I didn't see a lot of your replies until now. ? I bought several trial packs of Nectar when I went for my pre-op testing. I've really enjoyed some of them & some not so much. I like the fruity ones that I can mix in water best. I'm able to do the unflavored Isopure whey protein isolate without issue so I think I'm going to stick to that & protein water. I'll probably add a protein shake every once in a while. Thank you all for your advice and commiseration! I hope all of us who are having trouble figure out what works best for us soon!
  19. Google how body builders make weight when they need to lose. I had to do this one time during the 6 months of appointments & that advice is how I lost 8 pounds in just a few days. The weight came back, of course, but it was a "quick fix". Good luck!
  20. Fingers crossed that you hear back soon!
  21. Awesome, that’s great to hear! I was really dreading those shakes. Thank y’all!
  22. Hi! I'm having a hard time with the protein shakes. I'm trying all kinds of flavors but I just don't like them. I know I may have to force them down & I will if it comes to that. My question is can I use protein water & unflavored protein powder to get my protein in every day after surgery and not drink shakes? I tried the unflavored protein in water and it tasted just fine so I know I can use that. I've got a case of protein water on the way too. Any advice would be helpful! Thank you! (I'm sure this question has been asked over & over but my search results were 17,000+ and nobody has time for that, ha!)
  23. You had every right to call for updates & you were being nice about it too! I was lucky on the insurance front, it just took a few days to get my approval. I'm obsessively checking my phone today & I even called it from my work phone to make sure it was working. ? I'm ridiculous!
  24. How exciting!!! I'm happy the ball is rolling fast for you. I wish you all the luck in the world with your surgery! You'll do great. I hope you have an easy recovery.
  25. Ugh,the waiting is so not fun. Everyday seems to last an eternity, right?!? I hope you hear from your doctor soon!!! Our new life is just around the corner. I'll update when I finally get my date! Good luck to you too!!! ?
