I have UHC Choice Plus as well! However, the insurance isn’t requiring me to do the 6 months at all. The only requirement really is being morbidly obese or 50% greater than your ideal body weight. My paperwork gets submitted after my March 3rd appointment with the psych. I hope everything goes well for you!!

My mom tells me to pretend my insurance requires the six month supervised visits lol. So I'm trying to do that as well. No worries @MaineDoc ...any and every suggestion from you all helps! And thank you @FluffyChix! I appreciate both of your responses, I will stay strong! Honestly, since going to the doctor yesterday I want it out anyway because they said it's 5.1cm. Although I didn't have any issues with it, and I don't have any symptoms I do think it's freaky to have something there that shouldn't be there...and at that size. This is my 2nd go-round with cysts! My first was a brain surgery back in 2017. I really am looking forward to the surgery to help me regain my health and continue on a great path! Nooooooooooo more cysts after this lol

So, one of the requirements for my surgery was to have a pancreatic cyst checked out that my GI found back in September. In September they aspirated it and said there were no malignant cells. Well, according to the doctors..by viewing the MRI the cyst contains mucinoids which could eventually turn into cancer. The characteristics of the Fluid points to it being nonmalignant but they want to make an action plan...which could be surgery. I just feel kind of discouraged because of the possibility of everything being pushed back. I'm thee biggest worrier alive, so this has definitely thrown a wrench in my plan. UGH

Just an update-really good news guys! The cyst is actually forming from my kidney. Soooo the doctor has decided to monitor it every 6 months since cytology came back with everything being non-malignant. This means after my March 3rd psych appointment everything will be sent into the insurance! I’m super excited & ready.

@ajtylo... can you clarify what you mean by “play” I truly hope it’s not what I’m thinking. My post is a safe space for all people but especially the LGBT community. So if you are here looking for something.. this is not it.

I'm so sorry you are having this issue, but pleased that you are taking care of it. As someone else on this thread has already said, this is just a speedbump on your way to your glorious new you. If you're like me, you just want to go go go. Get it done. Let's get on to the next thing. But sometimes life slows us down and tells us to take a pause to catch our breath.
Perhaps contemplate on all of the reasons you are going through WLS. It can solidify your resolve and give you more confidence that your decision is the right one for you. I've tried to use the four months of waiting to get my head in the right place. Hasn't always worked, but i'm much closer to having my head in the game than I was before the four months.
    Hang in there. ((HUGS))

OMG! I’m so tired of people saying that to me! I’m 5’5 and 222.. I carry my weight well so people never really realize I weigh so much. I went to my GI and she told me I don’t need the surgery. I feel like people need to realize it’s about much more than weight!

Thank you! It’s funny because this is my 3rd GI! He specializes in pancreatic cysts. He said they will present my case to the tumor board Friday to see what the plan will be. I hate that they said it’ll take 2-3 weeks to let me know though 😩

You die without a pancreas (unless the artificial one has been perfected).

Maybe they can remove the pancreas (if that's the desired treatment) at the same time that they do the sleeve? The pancreas is very close to the stomach.

I had a similar thing crop up during my testing. When I had my EGD they found a mass in my duodenum. They took a biopsy and it turned out to be non-cancerous, when. I went to a specialist and he recommended leaving it as the mass was near my pancreatic and bile ducts. He said the surgery to remove it was very involved and since it was non-cancerous it would be best to leave it and just check it in six months. He said me having WLS surgery would be a plus as if I had to have surgery, losing weight would make that surgery easier. Trust your doctor and definitely get a second opinion from someone who specializes in pancreatic surgery. It will work out for you.

Not trying to sugar coat things, but simply trying to offer a hopeful/optimistic perspective:

The good news with your decision to take better control of your health by pursuing WLS necessitated that this pancreatic issue got worked up prior to going ahead with WLS. Perhaps if you hadn’t made this decision, the pancreatic issue would have become more of a problem if it hadn’t been discovered or if you had waited longer to have it worked up.

Again not trying to minimize your anxiety and how frustrating this whole process can be for so many reasons, but just trying to maybe reframe your outlook on this as something else that will lead to improved health for you.

I hope that you get an answer quickly, that it’s benign, and that you can proceed with WLS ASAP. My best wishes to you.

Hi! I'm fairly new here as well. I had my first consult 12/31 and have to wait until 3/3 for my psych eval, which is okay! I love my 600lb life too! Anyway, this forum is really helpful especially for us anxious folk. Good luck!

That's so bomb! I basically found out all my insurance information on my own (because I'm THAT annoying lol). Initially, the doctor was telling me that I had a 6 month supervised diet time frame, but I confirmed with the insurance that I don't. Prior to confirming this they set me up with 2 supervised visits, which I don't mind at all because it'll just keep the doctor updated. My psych is March 3rd and hopefully I'll get an April date...I have graduation in May...So It would be bomb if I could have it before then! I'll definitely check out youtube though! Since my start, I've been a bit obsessed so I look for information EVERYWHERE. I will admit I am a bit worried that I don't have any diagnosed comorbidities, but I do have a big family history of GERD, Diabetes and Heart Disease. I also suffer from Anxiety & Depression, so hopefully that is enough! I'm remaining positive though, the forums DEFINITELY give me comfort
