  1. I have been struggling to stay on track recently. Some of my clothes are fitting better, but I could not "see" any difference. Photo below are 15 weeks apart. Starting weight 228, surgery weight 219 (Jan 8, 2020), current weight 189. Goal weight?. I had a revision to RNY in Jan 2020. Previously banded in August 2008. Lost 60 lbs, gained 30 before revision. Panniculectomy?

I had this done about 4 years ago. They also did a tummy tuck at the same time. I was scared for this surgery. scared of the pain. My insurance required the procedure be done same day..I thought this was bad, but it worked out very well, I never get much rest while in the hospital. Anyway, what helped me most was to stay ahead of the pain. For the first few days I religiously took my pain medication every 4 hours, pretty much no exception. The other thing I did was rented a lift chair for about the first 3 weeks I was home. I am a stomach sleeper so I was sleeping in the chair for most of those 3 weeks. I had 3 drains, which are not fun, but not horrible. I am very happy with the surgery and was very fortunate that my insurance through the military paid for it [emoji57] Sent from my SM-G981U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I am doing fine. Wed will be 8 weeks and I will be able to eat normally. I have lost about 27 lbs since surgery. I gained about 30 from when my band failed in April 2019 until surgery 1/8/20. Struggling a little with knowing what full is, it is a very different feeling than being full with the band. Working hard to stay in my calories, about 800 a day at this point and eating protein first. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

  6. Who is doing your surgery? I had mine at Deaconnes in Spokane, Dr Spitz, January 8, 2029. Rny conversion from band. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. elcee, Your experience with the band is very similar to mine. You said it way better than I ever could! Great advice for anyone still looking at the band!
  8. I had the band placed in 2008. Had to have a slip fixed in 2010. Band removed in 2019, bypass done in 2020. Other than the slip in 2010 i didn't really have any problems with my band. I lost about 60-65 in the first 6 months, then maintained that loss +/- 5 lbs until 2019. Wasn't really having any issues, but decided I should do a check in with my band doctor, in April 2019 I had an upper gi done, they found that the band was causing problems with my esophagus and recommended removal. Removal and bypass done as 2 separate surgeries. I am 6 weeks post op from bypass and feeling great. I would not do the band again and go straight to bypass, bands fail after about 10 years, or sooner for some. Save time and $$$ do the bypass!! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Banded in 2008, removed in September 2019. Bypass done January 8. 2020. Highest weight 260 (pre band), Lowest weight 190, weight at removal 225, weight at start of bypass procedure 228, current weight 202. It is slow, but it is moving!! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. That was me also. Too tired and sore to think about questions. But emailed my provider today and got the answer. So a little late starting (surgery was 1/8) but started today!! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I asked my Dr this today. I used to take Omeprazole regularly, but as soon as my band was deflated then removed I did not need it. So Now just had a bypass done and was told to take it for 8 weeks to keep ulcers away! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Band to bypass

I had my band removed 9/11/19, gastric bypass scheduled for 1/8/20. My dr would not do them at the same time. Wanted 3 months for the stomach to heal after removal. I had the band for 11 years. Tough 3 months gained almost 30 lbs. So ready to have the surgery and br on the other side of it! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
