I thought I was missing food, but then realized it was all In my head. I realized today my arthritis pain has almost vanished! I don’t wake up with pounding headaches from sleep apnea anymore! It’s all been because of this second chance at life!

Are you drinking your Water? Honestly I had a lot of head hunger, but when sticking to my water and protein...was quickly reminded, I was not physically hungry.

That’s not a bad thing...This is a journey not a race. Good point your skin has a chance to recoup and bounce back. Your losing weight, so your definitely not failing! Keep doing you!!! You got this!!!

I just heard about this forum from my doctor, so I joined and wanted to introduce myself. I had my RNY nine and a half years ago. I heard about regain, but said, "That won't happen to me." For 6 years, I was logging my food, exercising regularly and weighing myself to stay close to my target weight. On July 3, 2016, I went for a run in the morning and got married that afternoon in a fabulous NYC wedding! Then, it all slipped away.... I was on a high! I ate and drank through Europe on an amazing two week honeymoon. Came back to more parties and celebrations and no exercise. Over the last three and a half years, my new normal changed so much. I recently stepped on the scale and BAM! I have gained close to 30 pounds! I'm in shock. I know I'll lose it, but its a reminder that I have to be very careful every.single.day. It's too easy to get caught up and undo years of hardwork. I’m happy to have found a new place for support and accountability and look forward to making new connections!

It is weird but I don’t crave all of my favorites anymore.

Hi all. My name is JoeJohn. I am 280 40 BMI 5.' 7" 57 yrs. old I have already been diagnosed with Diabetes 2, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep-apnea and am taking medication for all, including insulin. My hope is that I can in the near future overcome some of these conditions. I have been told by doctors that they are weight related. My surgery is on Monday, Dec. 25, 2019. So it is now just over 3 days more of clear liquid diet. I don't feel hungry because of all the Protein Shakes, I guess. But, of course, I did have a dream that I had lost my sober/clean time by sneaking out of my house and chasing a cheeseburger all over the city. I am hoping those kinds of dreams are normal. Anyway, I feel both anxious and excited, a bit of both. I work a 12-step program of recovery and have a strong faith in my Higher Power, so I believe the spiritual principles and living tools will now help me in this new era of my life. So we say the prayer: "Take my will and my life, guide me in my recovery, show me how to live. . . " and I begin each day at that point of surrender. I has the same co morbidities and 3 weeks post I no longer snore and now I need to cut my losartin in half as my BP is way down.

Muscle milk is my new coffee’s creamer...great amount of protein per serving.
Your taste buds will change after surgery. I loved the protein Water before surgery, but can’t stomach it since the surgery. Same with Premier Protein, I can’t stomach most of the flavors now after surgery.

I’m on third week and basically still on Protein Drinks, and one item of food a day...which is a vegan meatball, spoon full of avocado, and i’ve had egg drop Soup. Being greedy and lack of good choices got me here. I’m blessed to have this second chance of life pain free compared to before. Each bite is a healthier me being born again. I’m going to be pretty picky, with each bite. Each time I write that, is another reminder.

Did you get a 24 hr help line number? Do you have a RN counselor you can call?

Your time will fly by, I remember like it was yesterday I was getting my consult.
Now I'm 3 weeks post op. It has definitely been a journey. No Regrets!

I’m going to just put this right here....my doc told me a minimum a year. Doc said we now absorb alcohol at such an intense rate that we will be drunk way before we realize it. Doc also informed me bariatric patients are the new AA members. So for anyone that ever findS them selves in that predicament, thank God there is help.

Are you ok? Anxiety sucks! I like to read, and meditate when I’m feeling anxious. It took a lil practice, but it really works for me now. What are things you do to help it?

I have just run your numbers through a BMI calc ( yes I know some people hate them) and according to that your BMI is 21.1 which is still well within the healthy range.Therefore I wouldn’t stress too much at this point.
I would suggest adding back in healthy fats. Things likes nuts, seeds and avocados. Also use higher fat versions of dairy.
I often think that people worry that they are too skinny when they are in fact healthy because these days we are more used to seeing overweight people .

The average person who fails after WLS does so because of sugar. Watch any heavy person with previous surgery and you will always see one of two things in their hands. soda and/or candy. It's the only way to screw up, because your new smaller stomach can't process enough actual food, to blow people back up.
If you have a sugar craving already, you should talk to a nutritionist about how to get over that hump. It's a terrible addiction and releases the exact same opioids in your brain as heroin and cocaine.
I have tied the sugar free hard candies from Branch's, and they are pretty good. 10 calories each. A couple per day seems to get me over any cravings.
