  1. l would question the Dr who did this surgery without requiring you to have the pre-op testing..lts for your health and safety.
  2. 6/26/08? or do you mean 8/26/08
  3. Hi Mini band...l'm Lisa and lm also very new here..still trying to find my way so to speak..l'm insurance approved, denied the first time..l called my ins every day after that until they knew my name and my story...so even if you get denied, its just s bump n the road...as soon as l got approved, my surgeons office called to say that my surgeon would be out on emergency family leave for probably two weeks..its already been at least 3 weeks..so here l wait..lwould assume l'll get banded in Sept some time..l'm ready, excited...and looking foward to a better life..Thin all my life, then a widow at 25..then married a man 400lbs..its so easy to learn the lifestyle...so now divorced and totally in love with a wonderful supportive man...at least l know he loves me heavy...what state are you i? Me Mass...its so different here than what l see most people post....no 6 month diet.....no sleep studies...no GI series...easy...nutrition, psych....blood wok..thats about its...not even a real pre surgical diet....stay in touch Lisa
  4. No Straws.....creates to much air...but l have also thought about sippy cups..the are small and easy to carry around...Good luck to you
  5. thank you Barbara....l'm waiting to have surgery when he gets back..lts miserable having to wait....but worth it....
  6. PIONEER VALLEY SURGICAL....look on the web site...its a great group...not sutre when the already banded group meets, but the pre banding group and there are many post banded in this group, will meet again at 6:30 8/18 at the Clarion Hotel in West Spfld....its a nice bunch of happy people....
  7. l'm sure the Insurance Comp is going to be really direct with what they exopect from you, as well as the doctor..Insurance companies move at a snails pace, when they want to..l think they think we will be discouraged and go away...l would call your carrier and see exactly what you need to jump through all their hoops...Then get all your ducks in a row, play their game and hope they are nice....Good Luck....
  8. Congrats on your special day...band-day...welcome to this site..Full of happy, luck people with much encouragement...Smile...its almost time....Me, still waiting for a date..everything is done...
  9. Pats Fan here....Are there really any other teams? <kidding> Season ticket holder and #1 fan.. Congrats on your new arrival and your band..
  10. anyone know when Dr Hagg is coming back to work?
  11. yes they do cover the surgery with almost no issues..my best friend had no problem getting approved....good luck to you
  12. WE didn;t need a sleep study or a pulmo exam..all we need here is Nutrition and psych..no diet...no liquid phase...nothing...l should know this week my date..naturally when l get my approval, my surgeon is out on emergency medical leave for who knows how long....l know it will happen soon....l'm so excited...my email is Lisamarie11581158@yahoo....maybe we can be cheerleaders for each other....
  13. where are you from? Sounds like it could be a miserable flight home....Good luck to you
  14. did they say why he denied you? l was also denied by B/C...but l called them daily for probably two weeks. l got to know them also personally...in y book it said l didn't even need approval, yet l did. whe l got denied l was hurt, angry and very pissed off...finally l found out that l was denied bec l was missing a paper in my file...given the paper and l was approved...CALL them....be a pain in their neck...call them again and again...eventually you will find someone who cares...l was lcky to find someone who has the surgery a few years ago....lol....be strong..lf all else fails l would spend them money on an attorney...l contacted obesity law .com...they accepted my case, bec l really had a case....BUT l got my approval the same day Obesity law took the case and l never needed them...Good luck..Be a cheerleader for yourself....
  15. thanks for your reply...l too have FEB basic...in my policy book it states you don;t even need an approval...lol...l questioned BC about that and they thought it was quite funny..l actually ecame quite friendl with them over this fight...if you get denied, its probably only bec a paper is missing from your file....DON"T get discouraged...make aPIA out of yourself.. called then every day ror probably two weeks...l think l know everyone in the Boston office..its worth fighting for...l'm just waiting for a date, as my surgeon has been out on emergency medical leave for two weeks an dthey don't expect him back for another two weeks...l'm so excited though and want to tell the world....let me know how you make out... Lisa....do you work for the Government?:Banane34:

Your pictures are so beautiful...thanks for sharing them...Welcome to our group...its a journey ....have fun...
  17. all depends on what type of insurance you have...Welcome
  18. Sounds like that might be a bigger problem...Especially if its a large company...l guess its work asking...You can write them an email and see what they think..lf they send you an email in return, its bec they believe they can help.
  19. hound the insurance..Mine finally said OK..l think its because l made them aware l wasn't going away...lol..such games we have to play for the insurance companies...
  20. it will all fall into place quickly (l hope)....enjoy...its so funny how the different plans are so different....We meet the surgeon right away and then do all the other class's we have to do...Then they submitt to insurance..lf you get your approval they book you for surgery...no 6 month diet plan..some people have to go for GI series etc...its just so confusing..that coming from someone whos been a nurse for 25 years...lol...Be good...enjoy
  21. l heard back from OBESITY law .com... their fee is between 400-750 depending on how much you want them to do..Thankfull B/C B/S federal approved me, before l actually needed them...l was also told that when they deny you its usually bec something is missing from your file....thats it...good luck to all
  22. Welcome aboard. This is a very fun web site and so full of information..l too, thought about this for about 6 years, watching so many other people go through it and do very well...lm waiting for a surgical date...l can't wait... again welcome and have fun along the way
  23. hello and welcome...My psych exam was really interesting..l had to go twice for my surgery requirements, but l'm actually glad l got to...They go over your life history..its really all about YOU...The nutrition appts were also wonderful and very informative.l also had to go at least twice for that...again, its all about what you eat and how you can improve what you are doing. The whole journey with the lap banding has been awesome, except the denial l got at the end from my insurance carrier...BUT thank goodness, they took another look and now l'm approved..Just waiting for a date...Good luck to you...
  24. l did the same thing with Blue Cross Federal....l wrote obesity law.com and l was instantly approved....
  25. thank you Gina....did your DR suggest this? l can't imagine mine paying for it....its not the nicest office..lol
