  1. are you sure they put 3cc in your 4 cc band already? Seems a bit tooooo fast to me....On your first fill? Where do you go from here...perhaps you have a 14 cc band, not 4cc..
  2. don't ever be afraid to ask questions..the only stupid question is the question you don't ask....Good Luck...
  3. theres a million success stories for every failed story....its a lot of hard work, but its an awesome tool..l can't imagine life without my band...
  4. at your preop appt, you will take a 10 question simple test and just go over any questions you might have..its an exciting time for you...every day is great...l'm soooo happy l did this....
  5. Hi Maggie...l had Dr Haag in Sept..l asked him point blank, why no pre-op diet..He said to me, it was their experience that people didn't do the pre-op diet, so they dropped it...(why should we complain)...l thought it was strange....they just don't want you to gain weight waiting for surgery.Hey, good luck...
  6. do you exercise at all?
  7. Just remember you are the one getting all the attention right now..l feel like l have the same situation going on...Not that my friends are really jealious, but l think they hate me getting all the attention right now..No matter where we go or what we do, someone is excited for me...lt will all pass in time...
  8. lm at the point where l'm still fighting with Blue Cross and the hospital..l believe the whole situation happened bec of a coding error..Blue Cross on the othert hand says l should be greatful that my bill has gone from $4,000 to $2,000..l should only owe the hospital 100. lm in the medical field and gees l am frustrated dealing with them...l will fight it to the end...On the good side, l had my surgery 9/12 and have lost 50 lbs...stay in touch Lisa
  9. Continue doing what you're doing...sounds like they are jealious...you have reason to be proud..
  10. we don't get that numbing needle...and there really is no pain involved with the fill...can you fore go the numbing medication?
  11. go easy now for a day or so and let your stomach rest...Good luck....
  12. welcome Maggie...its an exciting time for you...
  13. how did you know it had slipped?
  14. since being banded, l can not eat yogurt, no matter how slowly or what type or brand..l think its to sticky for me...same with any sort of ice cream..(thank goodness)..l think it just globs onto my band and closes it off
  15. l have the same problem and l would say its blood pressure that causes the headache...Once its over, BPing, and l lay down and relax, it disappears...
  16. Don't ever be afraid to ask on this site..its awesome and so many people have so much experience...People on here are more than willing to help...you have many friends who understand exactly what you are going through or will be going through...an honest question is never a stupid question...we have all had the same questions from time to time...Sit back and enjoy your future..
  17. My sister in law when for her fill on Mon with Dr Haag..she waited 5 weeks for the appt...She got there at 9 for a 9 appt..at 9:30 they put her in a room. at 10:15 they told her Dr Haag wasn't in yet...Come to find out, Dr Haag was in California. and wasn't coming in at all...thats the third time she was cancelled after she was already at the office...she was there over 2 + hours waiting for an appt that was never going to happen.
  18. l went to Bay state and they were very good to deal with..Dr Haag said to me that they love going to NOBLE, bec the staff at NOBLE is much nicer to work with than at Bay state...stay on their butts in the office..call call call....don't leave a message, they never call you back..instead, tell them you will wait on hold....they can be really rude...their office lacks a lot of kindness...he who makes the most nboise in that office gets things done...l was all done, may paper work submitted when my sister in law got her done..l was several weeks ahead of her, yet she got her surgery 2 weeks before me bec she kept calling them...l mean a couple of times a week until they told her what she wanted to hear..granted we had a strange case bec he was out for a month, but when you want something badly and you have to wait until who knows when you get very anxious....l didn't care if they gave me a surgery date of several months, as long as l had a date...Fortunately after my sister in law got booked, l called to find out how she jumpped ahead of me on the list...they told me, she has insurance issues...The only insurance issue was, l was paying for my health insurance and she wasn't.....l was so mad..meanwhile they told me they weren't booking any surgeries..when l told them is was BS they had booked hers, they immediately gave me a date..Funny how they go from one minute of saying they can't book anything, to giving me a date within the next week...Be on your toes with them...With all the money they have to be making, they should treat us patients far better than they do....stand up for yourself...
  19. l got my approval in Mid July and had to wait untill 9/12....
  20. welcome to the wonderful world of lap banding...you should find a nice family of friends here...Many have gone before you and many trying to join you in this quest...Don't be afraid to ask questions....Lisa....again, welcome
  21. KDM where will you get your band? Hartford? l was one of those who had to wait for Dr Haag and let me tell you it was extremely frustration to sit an wait, knowing we were approved for over 6 weeks and not getting a return date for Dr Haag...and his staff leaves a whole lot to be desired...He only does 14 cc bands..l have great restiction with 5cc, yet my sister in law done at the same time as me has over 9cc in her band with NO restriction...she see's Haag today and is going to ask him to remove all the fluid, as l would think she has a hole in her tubing or something...she can eat like normal and eat and drink..you name it she can do it...
  22. They want you to live on 800 calories and then do liquids for 6 weeks after surgery..Thats a bit extreme l would guess...For me the band was the perfect soluation to over eating..As long as you get your fills to the proper fill you won't be over eating...l grew up in a large Italian family where food was always available and encouraged. l never knew what it was like to feel hunger..l can honestly say, even with my band, l'm eating 1/10 what l would have and l am NOT hungry, ever...The doctor has such controll over you as long as you go to the doctor...l have seen many people fail with gastric bypass, bec the burden is on the patient...lf you use your band correctly it can be your best buddy....lts my 2 year old all over again..l never know quite when he'll act up...Smile an look forward to your future..we have so much hope for sunnier days and brighter tomorrows.
  23. lm happy with 40 lbs..l have a 14 cc band with 5 cc of fill with great restriction...my band is very tempermental..
  24. l had my surgery 9/12 and l'm down 40 lbs...wishing it was a bit warmer here so l could get outside...hazards of being in the Northeast...
  25. Yes, they use a 14 cc band on everyone...Do you know when your friend was done? l was done 9/12 and l never saw anyone else there that day, although l believe they do several a day..My sister in law was done on 9/4 and has had 6 fills and still doesn't have any restriction..its so strange how it all works...l truly love my band..its almost a friend...actually l call it my two year old...you just never know when it will act up...When are you looking to have yours done? l started the process in April and was done in Sept, but Dr Haag was out on leave almost the 2whole month of Aug, so that put a stall on a lot of us...lt was frustrating..Now that its over, l can look back and say it really moved quickly..lts just so hard when you are holding your breath and waiting and waiting...l did have trouble with my insuance, but appartently they were missing some of the paperwork...be prepared for little bumps in your road...But, it is exciting and we have so much to look forward to...a whole new life.... Lisa
