  1. Awesome threat!!! I won't ever miss; Pulling at my tops so they "fit". Going from store to store to find clothes that not only fit but are comfortable. Looking around the room to see if I am the heaviest. Being self conscious during sex...even though husband tells me not to worry. Being uncomfortable while we travel; ie planes, train, bus I'm ready to drop all this baggage!!!

    Firing my PMD

Ugh, Mary I'm so sorry for all this run around your getting. What doctors don't understand is this is a HUGE setback in our journey to SAVE ourselves. Such a blow could make someone just give up. I'm glad your strong and carrying on. You go get 'em girl!!! Deb
  3. I am so glad I found this thread. I thought I was alone. :sad:I have been so angry with myself because I must now have surgery. I am unable to lose weight and successfully keep it off by myself. How depressing. Since I have started the journey of obtaining a lap-band I have not exercised and have eaten everything with no disreguard for my health. I think I'm downright angry with myself. Deb

    First Fill

I can't answer your question about the bloating; I'm pre-band. But I'd like to congratulate you on your weight loss! Deb
  5. Hi everyone, I am curious to know what everyone thought of their psychological evaluation. I am pre-banded and am not sure if I will have to have one; my insurance (Aetna) doesn't require it, but I just want to be prepared should the bariatric clinic ask me to go through it. What kind of questions do they ask? What advice would you give someone going into this type of evaulation? Thank you! Deb
  6. Wow thank you so much for your post. I loved reading it!!! Keep us posted on your progress. I am a newbie also and really like to hear everyones story. Keep us posted. Deb

    Facing My Deepest Fear

Wow, powerful blog you wrote. I, like yourself, suffer from the same issues and have relied upon the same modes of healing; medication. I've often wondered once I start losing the weight (I'm pre-band) what will come... At some point we have to face our worst nightmare and come to terms with what is left behind.

    1st Day out

That was great blog! And by the sounds of it a pretty good day... except for the bloating. GOOD LUCK
  13. I'm very guarded about my weigh issues...struggles This being said I have only shared my journey with a small handful of trusted people. I have had enough negative bs in my life that I just don't need anymore. Furthermore, I don't want the stress of people looking at me and expecting something. You have to do this for yourself. Keep your head high and know you are making one of the best decisions of your life.

    Sex After Surgery

Too shy to ask this question myself... I'm so glad you brought this up. I'm eager to see more replies as I am pre-banded and had wondered about being sexually active and how long one should wait.

    The blog helps

OMG I love your blogs! I completely understand the husband & dog snoring thing. We have two weimeraners and shesh... they snore wicked. Isn't it alarming when your child reaches adulthood? Here we couldnt wait for it and now it's here... are scared for them. ~Deb

Stay strong girl... It's all for a good cause! You can do this!!! Deb
  19. Wanda- I think you have to patient with your body. I know, you made your decision to lose the weight, had the surgery and now... nothing. Really though, your body has been through a lot of trauma and it too needs to adjust to your new way of life. Hold on and be tuff, look how fat you've come. Deb

    Confused Newbie here

For myself, I chose the lapband because I have seen, four now, people that I know of who had the gastric bypass who lost over 100lbs and 3 out of the 4 gained it all back! With the bypass you can stretch your stomach back out. I want to do this ONCE and be done!
  21. I totally 100% agree with this!!!
  22. Wean yourself slowly to avoid headaches and other such related effects. I'd also recommend doing the 1/2 reg and 1/2 decaf for a week then totally switch over to full decaf. Good luck
  23. Oh gosh that sounds like a horrible (and scary) night of pain. I am of no help as I am "pre" banded, but I can let you know that there are lots of people here who may be able to help you figure that mystery out. And lots, like myself, who just care. Good luck Deb
  24. Leslie, that wasn't very compassionate of the doctors wife! Ugh... Sometimes people only concentrate on the negative sides of everything, rather than looking at the positive. The reduction in your blood pressure, cholesteral, insulin production etc etc etc
  25. I've gotta jump in here. I totally agree with you to have the surgery. For some of us diet & exercise just isn't enough. :w00t: We require more...and for your doctor to not appreciate that you are TRYING to solve the problem is frusterating at best. You do what you need to do. And I agree, if some ignorant folks would just come to this site and look around they'd find hundreds of successful weight loss banded survivers. And we are proud of them! Hold your position and don't let this get you down.
