    Feeling so depressed

I had a similar issue with mine! I had to do my 4 week post op yesterday, which was 6 weeks. This was due to the holiday last week and my doctor only having 1 day a week in office. I was supposed to get clearance at my 1 month for exercise and to move off soft foods to my regular diet. That week also happened to be Thanksgiving and I wanted turkey so I called them up and basically told them I'd be moving to normal foods, things have been fine, and I'm going back to barre. Lol. They didn't have a problem with it. I hope you can do the same!

    1 month follow-up

I forgot to mention - BP was 122/88 and I haven't been on meds for that for 2 months now. Lost 2.5 inches in my neck, 5 inches around my belly and 4.5 inches at my waist!

    Hurts to drink water

That's 100% correct for bypass patients. Sleeve patients seem to be on the fence depending on the doctor.

    Hurts to drink water

No clue. We also don't have a pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks and I was on my normal diet after 4 weeks post-op. Maybe my surgeon is just progressive? haha

    No Pre-Op Liquid Diet?

I agree with you - saying a surgeon that doesn't require it is bad is a bit of a stretch. I mean, my surgeon required me to lose 5% of my weight before surgery - that shrunk my liver enough that I didn't need the pre-op diet.

    Hurts to drink water

My doc said get the sleeve if you want to take NSAID and I was sent home from surgery (!) with a script for ibuprofen and told to alternate with tylenol for pain. So it's kinda all over the place haha

    1 month follow-up

So they seemed pretty happy with my progress. Told me to stick to 700 cals a day, 70-80 grams protein and under 40 grams carbs. We will re-evaluate all that at my 3 month appt on Jan 22. They didn't seem too concerned that I can do 4 oz in a sitting without really needing to slow down. Some people seem to be able to do that at 6 weeks and some never get there so 🤷‍♂️ They said weightlifting will help me lose more weight vs cardio so I'm going to stick with that.

    First Appointment

Despite what anyone might tell you it boils down to two things: how much EXCESS weight you want to lose and complicating factors. Sleeve loses around 60% excess weight while bypass is around 70%. These are general numbers - either one could do better or worse depending on the person and the surgeon. You will not guarantee more weight loss if you choose the bypass. Complicating factors - If you have GERD or heartburn now just get the bypass. For me I didn't have that, I wanted the less invasive of the two and I have meds I have to take for life so the bypass was out.

    Help

I think they'll be MORE than happy with 174 pounds in a year! Don't stress yourself to make that arbitrary goal.

    Please Help (Insurance Question)

They're saying if you change insurance you'll have to do the whole process over again. New insurance might not take info not done under them. All depends on their requirements.
  11. Mine was 4 weeks post-op and due to holidays and such it'll actually be 6 weeks. 3 weeks shouldn't be bad.

    Spike in weight

That's great! 21 pounds around 14 days is about where I was at as well. SW for me was 327.

    Medical ID Bracelets

Yeah, this is my question - what needs to go on it!!

    Please Help (Insurance Question)

I mean, the surgery itself will be part of your deductible and it'll be well over $6700. You'd be spending that money to get to your deductible anyways if you went and got xrays or something.

    Can't see it

I mean, not to be crass, but I see the pics on your profile and I see it! You look great! Might be body dysmorphia issues. I personally have the other issue - I see what I've lost and think I look great and don't see how I can lose another 70 pounds!
  17. Same here and my NUT is great! I had a private consult and two classes before surgery and I've always been able to see her if needed. She's also part of what's supposed to be my 1 month post-op on Thursday (but is really 6 weeks).

    Blue Care Network of Michigan

Yup, losingit2018 is right. Everything is all about procedure date, not approval date. Sorry.

    High DEDUCTIBLE

Only your insurance can tell you but I would say no, it doesn't matter when you're submitted and approved you HAVE to have the surgery before your end of plan year. Mine was Oct 31st and I HAD to have my surgery before then since I had already met my OOP max. Sorry, that's not what you were looking for I'm sure.

How was your weight this morning?

    Sugar/Sweet Cravings

There is a high protein version of almost everything now - so that's what I try and go for. I have protein donuts, brownies, cookies, cake - everything!

    Opinion on Air Fryers?

I use mine for a ton of stuff! Basically anything pre-made I heat up in my air fryer. Great for meats and veggies too. Highly recommend.
  24. lvidacovich

    soooo question my peeps.

I mean I was cleared for soft food after 2 weeks and everything but salad and raw veggies at 4. I've already eaten steak.

So sick 6 months post op

Interesting! I had one that they fixed in surgery. Glad they solved it, should be easy to take care of right?
