  1. So it’s that time of year here in Fl where the temps change from 50-89 each day, making you feel horrible. I do not take over the counter meds, so I wanted to go back to taking my echinacea. Today I am 3 weeks post op. I asked my surgeons office if I could take it , ( I went to Mexico, it was wonderful) but, they don’t know what echinacea is...so I’m looking for help from you guys. I just want to take 2. I am not on any antibiotics or anything like that. Just an acid reducer for one more week. It’s a normal sized capsule, nothing insane. so would it be okay to take a natural supplement ? Or does anyone take it ? I really want my echinacea lol thank you!!! please don’t say ask my surgeon, I have and like I said they don’t know what it is. That’s why I am writing on here. thanks!!
  2. So I know we had surgery, the body needs to heal. Yes, and it takes 6 weeks for the stomach to heal. Got it. But what does lifting more then 30lb do? Really what happens if we lift ? What would happen badly to us say we lifted more then 35lbs. Here’s the reason I’m asking : I work with kids with cerebral palsy. Tomorrow is my first day back. Saturday I’ll be 2 week post op. The main client I work with is a 2 year old and she’s no more then 25lb. I’d have to be moving her from a couch like surface, to her chair to do feeding therapies with me, move her to get changed, move her to a soft surface to do stretches and so on. She can’t lift herself so I have to move her around, so I’d be picking her up and placing her somewhere. would this be okay? Is this going to cause some sort of damage to me? Is there a certain way I should be lifting her for right now? My stitches are out. i really need help on this issue. thank you!!

What’s the reason why we can’t lift?

@BigViffer thank you. My opinion also, just sucks it’s not a true option for me. She relies on me and it’s been 2 weeks now. I have to go back. If I could I’d wait 2 more weeks, I’ll try to do as little as possible when it comes to lifting /getting her into position(s). Thanks!!

What’s the reason why we can’t lift?

@VSGDavid I have, I was told period don’t lift more then 30lb period. So I’m looking for insight from people who have gone through this, Their own experiences. Of course I’ve asked why and that’s the answer I’ve received over and over. I was looking for lifting tips, opinions about lifting and reasons why- that people have received; to compare my knowledge with fellow people whom have gone through this. As I’m new in this community and only want to be safe and successful.

What’s the reason why we can’t lift?

Do you thinking lifting the girl from a seated position to standing, putting her where needed would be okay?
  7. Hey there. So today I did my first weight in after being 1 week post op, and I weighted myself and only lost 2.2 pounds. Literally everyone I’ve seen or heard about looses 6-20 the first week...what’s going on with me? i follow my instructions. I have 60-70 G protein, about 400 cal and 2-7 carbs. Water is on average 30-45 oz. im extremely confused of why I didn’t lose any weight...help!!!
  8. @Serengirl it’s so hard being a slow looser!! Before the sgy it took me 7 months to lose 30lb , so I was so nervous that this would happen with even having the surgery. I’m so happy you’re so positive. You’re right. It will work. It has to, I just have to learn my new body; be patient and give it time. I’ll focus on my body, my clothes over the scale for now. Thanks again for relaying and supporting me!! So great of you! I wish you the best of luck!! I’ll keep resting
  9. @Serengirl @Healthy_life2 @AZhiker thank you guys so much!! You’ve made me feel so much relief. I needed this!! Thank you for being so kind and understanding! Thank you !!
  10. @Mikeyy I’m totally aware of that but I feel like my bloating has gone down so I thought okay I’ll be good like everyone but I guess I’m that one person who has the crazy reactions and holds onto the fluids and gas. Thanks for the response
  11. @Krimsonbutterflies that’s a phenomenal idea, thank you for that advice. Simple and extremely believable. Thank you!!!
  12. The hard thing I’ll be encountering is I’ll be 3.5 weeks post op for Thanksgiving. This is causing me a lot of stress as I have an aunt who is very intrusive and if I’m eating differently or in an “alarming” Manner she will make notice of it and will say something. I will still Be on purée until 11/30 and thanksgiving is on 11/28 so I was thinking maybe I can get approval for starting soft food for when I arrive at my families house... how do I dodge this unwanted attention? Only my boss, best friend, 2 co workers, mom and my significant other know about the surgery. I do not want them to know, as they can cause me unnecessary stress.
