  1. That is wonderful! We will have to cheer each other on! I love your handle here. I'm feeling a strong kinship to butterflies through this process :-)
  2. Just booked my surgery with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana, for January 6, 2020! I couldn't be more excited about moving forward after so much research and reflection. I'll be continuing weight loss with Weight Watchers until I get pre- op diet information. I'm working on learning as much as possible about life before, during and after surgery, and developing a walking routine. 2020 will be a new beginning and although I'm a little anxious, I'm so excited as well!
  3. I am thrilled and looking forward to having my VSG surgery on January 6, 2020 with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana! After a lot of research and deliberation, I'm am incredibly on board with this decision and now I'm spending my time preparing my mind and body. I'm continuing with Weight Watchers, developing a walking routine, listening to podcasts, reading, and learning as much as I can about life before, during and after bariatric surgery. I'm also reflecting on my past weight loss attempts to dissect lessons learned. 2020 will be a turning point for me!
  4. I can't speak for the VSG, but when I lost 100lbs on Optifast, I experienced this after resuming normal food, but when I went out hiking somewhat vigorously. I hope others have better ideas. Great question!
  5. I love your pics and you are doing so well. Such an inspiration. Yummy food pics. I hope you continue to heal from complication. Peace.
  6. That is so exciting!!! You're gonna rock it!
  7. I worried about this as well and am currently looking at medical tourism complication insurance. I found this company but am continuing to research it. It does give me some peace of mind as I'm not sure if my insurance would cover complications related to a procedure that they don't cover. But I also am not too worried, as complications are extremely rare! https://www.globalprotectivesolutions.com/individual-and-companion-travel-accident/
  8. Here is one insurance company that I have come across. I don't know how much it costs yet, but I'm investigating. https://www.globalprotectivesolutions.com/individual-and-companion-travel-accident/
  9. Did any of you take out a medical tourism insurance policy that would cover costs of complications upon arrival home?
  10. That is so helpful! I live on the northeast side, but would be willing to drive to the right person. I appreciate it!
  11. I am planning to have sleeve surgery in January with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC. My insurance won’t cover bariatrics or weight loss and I am planning to switch in Jan. But I am also trying to lose weight as soon as possible to be considered a kidney donor for my sister, so I’m doing Weight Watchers (again!) until January when my schedule is open for surgery in MX. 1) My PCP is un-supportive. Is there anyone from the Tucson, AZ area with a wonderful doc that embraces bariatrics? 2) What were your pre-surgery preparations that you recommend? Books, etc. Finally, this is a dumb question, but is there any way to sort this forum so that I see newest posts first? Thanks!
