  1. I had my RNY on 03/09- I am having such a hard time getting my fluids in. I always feel full. It takes me 4 hours to drink one bottle of water. I used to love water, now I can't stand it. SF koolaid is too sweet- SF lemonade is too tart. I am so frustrated and frankly I am having serious buyers remorse. Anyone have any ideas or words of wisdom?

    Any March Surgeries?

My RNY is March 9th! I started the process in October 2019 and got everything done and then BAM! Covid. So it's been a long time coming- I am very ready!

    This Pre-op diet is a b$@!:

I am Day 12 of 14- surgery is in 3 days! Protein shake for breakfast, small fruit for snack mid morning- protein shake for lunch, 4 oz nf cottage cheese or nf, sf greek yogurt for a snack and then 4 oz lean protein and 1 cup veggie for dinner. 64 oz of water per day- I have put sugar free pink lemonade mix ins in some of them to break up the monotany and I can have sf jello and popsicles as part of my fluid intake.
  4. No sleep study or upper GI required for me- but I did give them a TON of blood yesterday. Holy Moly I thought I would never get out of that chair!

    Panniculectomy?

My daughter had this done, she had to go home with drains and the recovery was more lengthy than she anticipated. She was happy she had it done. In particular it was easier to find clothes to fit well.
  6. Thanks everyone. I am definitely going to take my surgeon's advice, he is the expert and I trust his opinion. I just had it in my mind it would be the sleeve. Like Panda333 said, I liked that the sleeve option doesn't re-route the intestines. Guess the moral of the story is to go into your initial surgeon appointment without any expectations!

    Tricare anyone?

Thank you everyone! Had my initial visit yesterday and my surgeon's office said there is a 6 month waiting period with weight checks by my PCM but they saw no reason why I wouldn't be easily approved!
  8. I feel thrown for a loop- but because I already have GERD my surgeon recommends RNY instead of the sleeve. It makes me nervous, just seems so much more "invasive" although he said the recovery isn't vastly different. Anyone else thought they wanted the sleeve but ended up RNY? My insurance requires 6 month wait for surgery, so I have time to digest this (pun intended... LOL) Just looking for reassurance I guess.
  9. Just starting this journey- actually waiting for the surgeon's office to call me with an initial appointment. I was wondering who out there had Tricare insurance and how difficult were the hoops you had to jump through? I am nervous that even though my bmi is 40 I will be denied and honestly, I don't know where I would go from here. Background: 52 year old female, don't drink, don't smoke, GERD is my only comorbidity.
