It was hard at first. I agree I still have “fat” brain. I always wanted to wear knee high boots, I always wanted to be able to fit them over my chunky legs. I experimented “a lot”. I’ve also never tucked in shirts, until now. I’m 8 years out and only now getting comfortable with it. It’s hard to find our new selfs. I’m cleaning out my closet right now. I found a size 6 dress I wore 7 years ago when I first lost all my weight. My sister-in-law helped me pick it out for her baby shower, she is super stylish, and she knew I needed help at first, and helped me a lot. Of course I never fit into it again, until now that I’m finally back on track. I can wait to finally be able to wear it again.

Okay, so I have a sports bra recommendation, and this feels like the place to put it. When I started out in the 280s, I bought myself 2 shefit sports bras, in the hopes that the adjustability would make them last longer for me as I lose. Okay, so I JUST replaced them. My old size was 4luxe, my new is just Luxe. So those 4Luxes saw me through soooo many sizes. The Velcro is now as tight as it will pull on them, and on my new one it’s as loose as it will go, but still, I can’t think of another type of sports bra that would last that long, especially for running. They are spendy, very, but due to the adjustability, totally worth it.

Well, since I am both crappy AND craftsy, I just make my own.
Easy to do, and, once you have the stuff, makes lots of batches of it for very little comparitive cost.
With three large smelly guys in my house, I can testify that it works as well for us as the brand name stuff. Plus, you can change up the scent to anything you please anytime you wish. Are ya feeling fall today? pumpkin spice poo spray, maybe? LOL...
Here are several "recipes" for it linked in the post below:

If the above link doesn't make you flush with DIY pride, Pinterest is another good place to find your very own perfect DIY poo spray recipe.
    Happy crapping crafting y'all!

Lol. Yup KISS is exactly what you guys think.

Sometimes less is more and just getting back to early PO basics for a day or two is the best plan, IMO

Okay so I’ve been fasting since 6pm last night, went to Pilates this morning, and have to get ready really soon for a 1-11pm shift today.
Before I left, I brewed 8 ounces French roast and put that over crushed ice in the fridge.
Just now mixed half the caramel PP and half the coffee with more crushed ice and it’s pretty freaking delish!

My only concern right now is whether or not I can drink the whole thing. I’m at about the halfway mark and feeling pretty full.
It’s liquid though, so I think I’ll head upstairs for a quick shower and get ready and come back to try to finish this before leaving for work.

Hubs made some skirt steak last night and I’m also going to cut up 3-4 ounces of that and take with some leftover salad mix.

Eating window today should be my normal 16:8

I’m 5 months and 17 days from my gastric bypass surgery and I had my 6 month appointment. I am down 82 lbs!!!! I am now under 200lbs! I started at a size 22/2xl or 3xl; I can fit into a size 16 pants and a large shirt now!
the last time I was under 200lbs, I felt like I was starving myself and it made me miserable. The last time I lost this much weight was when I had an eating disorder. This surgery is One of the greatest things to happen to me! For folks feeling discouraged or worried, these things pass. My 8yr old son is roughly 70 lbs and I cannot believe I was carrying that around on my bones, joints, feet, etc.,! I’m so grateful that my body is forgiving me for all the food abuse. Here are some thing you may be asking (o just things I felt may be helpful/encouraging):
Do I go out to eat? Yes. Sometimes I have just a few bites and take the rest home. My leftover meals can last me 3 days sometimes. I plan ahead too; it’s trickier to spontaneously go out for a meal. I also try not to waste money. I know what I can or can’t eat and how much. I now find myself eying a plate of food I made and putting some back because I KNOW I can’t eat that much. I eat at home more, which is saving $ *yay*
Do I go to social events? Yes. I make sure I have Water in my hand at all times and chew, anything that I do eat, thoroughly!
Do I feel out of place when I’m out with people who are eating and I say “no, thank you”? Nope. My friends and family know I’m trying to lose weight for my health. They don’t know that I had this surgery. My father, who has type 1 diabetes, has actually started to lose weight too (I’m not going to burst his bubble by telling him I have a tool to help me!). I have never had someone get upset or make me feel guilty about not participating in food. I think if I did, I would be more inclined to DEcline even harder because, no one is going to mess up my progress, no one!
Do I feel guilty when people don’t know I had surgery and gush about my weight loss? Yeah, I do. I don’t like my weight being a focus, it doesn’t define me. People ask me “what have you been doing?!” But, I’m honest about what I’m doing. Protein, Vitamins, water, low carbs, no sugars. I think I feel guilty because I see others struggle with weight and I know their pain, and I have a tool that has helped me tremendously. I have told some people who are in a similar situation that I was in, they can decide what to do with the information, just like I did.
Buffets? Yup. I don’t get my $ worth, but I’m not going to have my life choices change my social habits. I exert self control, which is incredibly empowering now that I actually HAVE self control!
clothing? I actually never threw out my “skinny” clothes because I wanted them to fit again. I’m almost there and filling in the gap with leggings. My bras don’t fit and are mostly air (my boobs are just nonexistent lol!) so I do need to get some new ones. I wasn’t large chested to start, so I have my down moments about that loss
do you miss the foods you can’t eat? No, not really. I thought I would, but if it gave me dumping syndrome, I don’t desire it. My favorite snack was from Target; caramel cashew trail mix! Oh man! I went to target and got them, and felt so sick After eating them. My fiancé called me to say he picked some up (trying to be sweet) and I genuinely said “ya know? That’s ok, it’s better if it’s not in the house”. I don’t want to have a moment of weakness and feel sick, which is empowering
the best part is that I know I am the one doing this. No one but me is exercising, no one but me is making me eat healthier, no one but me is track my food intake, no one but me is making sure I’m taking my vitamins. It was such a great feeling to see my doctors so happy with my successes so far. My PCP was thrilled (he is the one who helped me start this journey after my previous PCPs wouldn’t even discuss weight loss surgery) and my bariatric doctor asked me to share what I’ve been doing so others can follow or be encouraged.
Share your successes! What are some of the things you do with success that someone may be struggling with? What keeps you on track? Where did you struggle, and how did you handle it?

Alrighty. So am back from vacay.
This was my first real "indulgent" vacation since going into maintenance. I've been on a couple road trips since deciding to stop weight loss, but those were weekend trips and not all-inclusive ones, nor was I surrounded with endless food and drink.
So how did it go? Well, the lead up to the trip had a little fear-of-the-unknown going on. I worried that I would have nothing healthy-ish to eat and I'd strave, or, that I would eat everything I see like I did pre-wls.
Turns out there was nothing to worry about.
Was there a lack of healthy-ish choices? No. There were always choices everywhere I went that fit into my normal eating (salad, grilled chicken or some protein), whether it was on the resort or off it. So I didn't have to pack all those packages of beef Jerky, chicharron and Protein Powder, lol. The kids ended up eating my jerky and chicharron and I gave the Protein powders to a bartender.
Did I eat everything I saw? Yes and No. I did sample many things that I normally would not eat (I'm talking to you sugary Desserts, fruits and some bread-like products), but only bites, not full portions. My restriction took care of that. Also thanks to my restriction, I learned after the first day that I need to pick and choose what I want to sample, because I literally have no room to try everything (I had to hurl twice the first day due to eating too fast and too much). So I only tried the stuff I really wanted to, and if after sampling it, it was only OK tasting, I'd put it aside. Only really yummy stuff got a second or third bite. It's sobering to realize that a lot of stuff really only looks good, and just tastes meh.
However. I drank alot of alcohol. I did limit myself to maybe 5-6 mixed drinks of the super sugary kind (I'm talking to you pina coladas and margaritas) for the entire trip, but I was basically a bottomless pit for skinny mojitos and tequila shots.
Also, I formed an addiction to these mini chocolate chip Cookies that they served in the coffee bar. They were like a version of a not-so-sweet, not-so-buttery shortbread-type cookie with chocolate chips in them. They were about the size of poker chip and I swear I must have eaten at lest 10 of them a day. Along with 4-5 Americanos a day....
I did log everything I ate (to be best of my ability...I had to eyeball everything), and according to the stats, I averaged about 3000 calories a day over the last 8 days. And roughly half those average daily calories came from my cookie and alcohol consumption, yikes.
In all, despite the record-breaking calorie intake, I managed to weigh in exactly a mere 1 lb more than before I left. Which means I've at least found my upper calorie level, of sorts*
*Though I did run way more than usual though, as well as generally burn more cals what with all the walking/water sports/dancing/heat-enduring, so need to take that into account...
So what was the lesson learned? Well, that I'm not going to suddenly explode with massive weight gain if I indulge. But I WILL slowly gain weight back if the indulgence continues beyond a short period of time. 1lb a week over a year is 52 lbs. And that is not acceptable to me. So back to figuring out my sweet spot...
