I agree with Orchids&Dragons. One missed step isn't going to completely derail you unless you let it. Pick yourself up, dust off your coat and keep going on your journey.

This is a long road with a steep, winding learning curve. Don't beat yourself up, just learn from your mistakes. Nobody's perfect. You put yourself back in control. That's great!

Just 6 weeks out and away on vacation. Had wine 2 nights in a row but out the kabosh on that today. I have been beating myself up about it sabotaging my weight loss. I weigh myself only once a week so I will see Wednesday how much damage I did. Just can't get it out of my head. Anyone else experience this ?

Lbtnew reacted to FluffyChix in Anyone NOT track their calories?
Volume is king. Right? But we need to know in a quantitative way, how much weight we're eating. So I put a 1 cup by volume measuring cup on the scale (think that is 240ml for you?), weigh in 85g-112g of Protein by weight, then fill the cup up with veg. Depending on what the veg is, that could be from 28-57g or so of veggies.
Hope that helps!

Sometimes I have nightmares about big time cheating. You should be fine so long as it doesn't become a habit. Now you can get back on track!

Vent away,
Funny how WLS can open your eyes to your role in relationships. Some relationship may change. You get to decide how much time you spend on negative people. Love that you are gaining confidence and discovering new things you want in life. Keep supportive people around you.

When I got home from work yesterday i gave my Vitamin another shot. This time I didn't have it on an empty stomach. I ate some sauteed chicken and waited about 10 minutes then took the vitamin. I'm happy to say I didn't not get nauseous or throw up! Progress

My surgery was 8/15 and I am also at 32 total from my highest weight during doc visits b4 pre-op diet. I look at it in increments of 5lb sugar bags, try carrying 6 1/2 of those up a flight or 2 of stairs. That keeps me motivated

32lbs is fabulous! Look how much 30lbs of fat is!!! I feel like you I lost 33lbs during my hospital stay and have lost barely anything since being home for 3 weeks. But just look at that fat compared to the Cereal bowl! We need to change our thinking, which is hard because maybe like me you feel like you did on a diet before the op, you'd lose, hit a stall then it'd all go down the drain. BUT we just have to be patient and let our new anatomy do its job

Lbtnew got a reaction from Bastian in Very Frequent Hiccups
I had the sleeve and seem to get them when I eat or drink too fast however I remember the discharge nurse telling me if you have excessive hiccups make an appt with the surgeon as sometimes it's the sign of a leak. I would just check it out for piece of mind

Lbtnew reacted to AZhiker in Cravings? HELP
You have chosen a new, healthy life. You need to embrace the healthy, good foods you can eat. Enjoy them, love them! Look at the old foods as enemies, not friends. Remember where they got you. You will have a burger again, just not now (and probably not with the bun.) You will have a piece of pizza again - just not now. Give up the sugar for good. No more cake or ice cream. It's just not worth it. Period. 5 minutes of pleasure and then hours of discomfort and guilt. Just not worth it. This is hard work. It's called CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and you have to start building new thought patterns and neuro pathways to re-wire your brain into finding pleasure in the healthy, wonderful foods instead of the foods that have nearly destroyed your life.

Well said ! My surgery was just one day before you and I was hoping to be down more than I was on my 3 week visit this week however I was so happy to be able to start cottage cheese and pureed veggies yesterday ! I love farina and yogurt but I have been hungry and I am tiring of it. With the new foods yesterday and today I am feeling content. Decided to only weigh on Wednesdays and Sundays

Lbtnew reacted to ms.sss in Any foods permanently off your safe list?
No, not recently (but I have before, in the first 2-3 months post op when I had too much). I stick to dry red wines and the mojitos are of the skinny kind, so i’ve been ok.
Note though that everyone is different, you may be able to handle more than me, or maybe less. Trial and error and you’ll figure out what you can handle. Of course you may turn out to not even want to drink at all, as I’ve read many times in here.
Whatever you decide, it’s always a good idea to let your team know

I mostly stayed on the stouts and I was fine - about 6 pints is my limit for the night. No hangovers, no throwing up, no weight gain. It was a grand time!

Congrats to all of us August sleeves! We did it, now that it's officially September I mentally feel it's behind me. Mentally yes lol but my stomach tells me different. I was sleeved 8/15 still on stage 2 so yogurt and farina are the only nondrinkables I've had. I move to stage 3 on 9/5 and can't wait to have cottage cheese, pureed veggies and ricotta. Does anyone have the ricotta bake recipe link ? I understand we all had different protocols for pre surgical diet due to our BMI, weight, individual health issues etc. But I'm so confused as to how all our post op diets vary ???? Even on my next stage I am still not allowed scrambled eggs, only soft and poached which I detest. I guess each surgeon has their own philosophy but I feel most on the boards have been offered so much more. I'm dreaming of scrambled eggs, refried Beans, lentil Soup etc. But like I said stage 3 starts later this week which will be 3 weeks post op and it's just purees, cottage cheese and ricotta that will be new for me

Lbtnew got a reaction from 303nursemom in Hungry after gastric sleeve?
I was sleeved 8/15 and can start pureed foods 9/5, I'm counting the days to cottage cheese and pureed veggies, yes I am hungry. I was hungry in the hospital too, it hasn't gone away. I asked the fellow sleeves and most said it was head hunger, I'm hanging in there but understand how you all feel. The first 2 days home from the hospital I also questioned my decision but that has passed and I am at peace with my choice. Hang in there we will all get there, keep drinking, even if it's small sips. My first protien shake at home took me 5 hrs to finish, one week later I drank it so quickly I was afraid it was too quick. It will get better

I certainly can't speak to the rides but as for the stamina I would think you'd be back in action by then. I am 10 days out and just traveled about 4 hrs to Celebrate my daughters engagement and stay 2 nights, If you asked me last week I couldn't imagine being here. However we arrived and have been doing nothing but walking and bopping from place to place. You got this
