Lbtnew reacted to ms.sss in Quarantine
Ohhhh....this is a good idea! This is going on my list of corona-boredom-distractions...
As for @KLUB, things I've been doing and with and without the fam (mind you my kid is a teenager...)
cleaning out long-ignored areas of the house (basement, office) cooking/baking LOTS Running/cycling (when the weather co-operates) Participating in various 2wk, 1month exercise/strength "challenges" with the fam (lots of ideas on youtube). We are currently in a "race" to see who can successfully complete a yoga lift based on our abilities (spoiler alert: I'm losing) teaching the Kid to drive making friends with neighbours (which is funny because we've lived here for YEARS, and I only recently learned the names of my backyard-adjacent neighbours) perfecting "My Sharona" on expert level on Rock Band card games and Scrabble with the fam binge-watching various series on Netfflix & Amazon getting Ukulele lessons from the Kid aimless drives around the city with the music turned up HIGH staying in touch with friends and fam via online social networks/group texts spending waaaaay too much time on these forums... Yes, I still do get bored and I am ACHING to go out already (grocery shopping day is one of the highlights of my week!), but I try to do something mind/body stimulating several times a day so that I don't end up killing someone. And if all else fails, I'll take a shower or a nap, lol.

Lbtnew reacted to JAKE H in Medical marijuana card
Heres my thing, there is a lot of research done these days, and its proven that taking in medical marijuana by ingesting it, is way healthier then alcohol and doesnt have addictive traits like alcohol. These are facts. Not opinions. I dont encourage anyone to do anything. ONLY MY EXPERIENCE. They day i came home i had my infused coconut oil and i still do to this day. And i think ive been pretty successful. Anyone that takes a prescription drug has no right to tell anyone else that this prescription is different. The days of close minded "marijuana is the devil" are over. Please i encourage you to do your research before you bash something that youve been told your whole life is the devil so thats what you believe. I hope everyone finds what THEY NEED to be successful on this journey. We are all different and may take different roads but i hope we all make healthy new lives and continue to grow. ❤️ i hope everyone has a great day!

Good for you ! That's a great motivator, I used it for my first 5k pre surgery and again for my first post op 5k, I see you are in Florida and just want to say if you are near Tampa they have an amazing 5k, I flew down in February and ran the Gasparilla run with my daughter who lives down there. Can't wait to do it again next year ! Keep up the good work

Please stop buying masks. Hospitals already can't get any to care for people with the actual virus. Stay home. Wash your hands.

Honestly, ANYONE with a cough and fever NEEDS to call their doctor and ask what they want them to do. Fever and cough is NOT normal. Is NOT a cold. LOL. It is almost always gonna be flu or infection somewhere (sinus/respiratory). But you could already be exposed and exposing others by NOT talking to your doc.

Lbtnew got a reaction from Sammi_Katt in VSG Friendly Snacks
Ms.sss wrote above a GREAT go to list with lots of choices, in answer to your new question about fruit I would thinly slice a 1/4 banana to start (I eat a half) then put a smear of almond butter on each slice and savor, also I would peel apples, slice and and bake with a little Water and cinnamon covered in the oven, it's like warm apple pie filling. Now over 6 months out I can eat all fruits but those were my 2 starters

Lbtnew got a reaction from lisafrommassachusetts in Surgery was yesterday, rough first day/night :(
Hang in there, the first few days I was miserable, felt like I had been run over by a truck. 1 week later I was cleaning out a linen closet and a whole different person. Go slow, stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.

Lbtnew reacted to Sandra Nuelken in Did anyone go crazy before pre op diet started?
I did not go "crazy" but listed the last 5 foods I wanted, I had a pastrami sandwich, shrimp and grits, a southern BLT made with fried green Tomato and pimento cheese, and sushi. I paced this over 2 weeks and didn't gain a pound. I only wanted the best of food, not junk.

I’m soooo sorry for your loss. I agree, at this trying time when you must also perform to get the best surgery results, I would see someone that will keep up with you. I was worried about the same thing for myself because I have anxiety and depression. I ended up reaching out to my counselor at my college and he is helping me a great deal while I am searching for someone to see regularly. Remember, we all got to this weight and maintained it for a reason. Especially during times like these, drench yourself with self-care.

Lbtnew got a reaction from TattooedSeaStar in Did anyone go crazy before pre op diet started?
I had my surgery August 15th so almost six months out and I have not had a bowl of Pasta or a piece of pizza since my surgery however I had my share of both the week before the pre-op diet and I have no regrets having attended my own little food funeral, I enjoyed every bite and at this point if I hadn't indulged in my faves back then I would have wished I did.

Lbtnew reacted to JessLess in What to do When You Can't Eat
See if there is a time limit. I run VERY slowly and it takes me about 40 minutes to run a 5K. If there's no time limit, you can probably walk and run it in that time.

I wouldn't say I went crazy, but I didn't diet at all before starting the liquid diet and made a point of eating all of my favorite foods one last time. My last meal the day before surgery was a pizza and a quart of Baskin Robbins ice cream. (Yes, a quart--not a pint.)
I don't think it makes much difference what you eat before the liquid diet as long as you can be fully compliant once you start--and I was.
