I get cold all the time. I used to always run hot, but now I need a jacket or some sort of sweater to wear at night. I just figure I get to buy and wear more good looking coats and sweaters.

I can't say that my symptoms were that severe at all. I really had no preconditions, though I was a bit sensitive. After surgery, I was experiencing so much more anxiety and was just a constant live wire. My family was tiptoeing around me, and I just felt terrible all the time. I was crying daily and overly what felt like literally nothing. No matter how much I wanted to, I could not stop.
Finally, when I went to my general practitioner for a checkup and to go over my surgery, etc., I asked her for Prozac. She agreed to let me at least try it, and it has been a world of difference in my life. Quality of life on my own and with my family went way, way up.
I think it could be related, or it could not, but either way, the only solution is to seek help. If he refuses to take his med, then I would say commitment might be the only way until he can get stabilized.

Bipolar Type I can have similar symptoms when in mania episode. The big difference is that there will be a crash and a deep depression at some point. Hope this helps understand more about Bipolar.

The weight loss does release a lot of stored hormones. This can cause moods to elevate and can also cause depression. So his meds might need adjusting. Talk to his Psychiatrist (PDoc) about him being off meds as well as the surgery.
For me I was on a stable set of meds before the surgery. I kept in touch with my PDoc through out the recovery as well so the meds could be adjusted as needed.
If he gets too bad, talk to the Pdoc as a small stay at a hospital might be required to get back on the meds. It wouldn’t be a bad thing, just a tool to get your husband back on track to normal.
If this is relatively new situation, I would also suggest to pick up some Bipolar books for him as well as for family members. It will help explain what is going on and what needs to be done. This is do able.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Abdomen feels crampy, pain has shared today. Felt pretty nauseated day 2.
My oxygen levels are a concern, so I'm being sent home today with some oxygen tanks for my cpap and for rest time.
Tonight I'll sleep completely flat in bed to see what that's going to be like. Might need to strategize how to effectively roll out of bed.
I'm so very happy for the awesome people here who have shared their experiences over the years.
I'm excited to get back home today!

BoredCW got a reaction from FluffySaysForkIt! in weight loss stall after surgery 3 months later
I had a stall from hell that just stopped (2 months). It started about 3 months out from surgery. I take a bunch of meds very similar to yours. But they don't help in the weight loss. Some cause weight gain, wanting to eat more, etc.. blah, blah, blah, you know all of this. Its a further challenge for us then what others may have in the weight loss process.
It seems harder with mental illness as the stress of "WTF did I do to cause this" start to jack hammer my brain, but it was just a stall and nothing I could do about it. I did a lot of food adjustments such as decrease calories, increased calories, I increased my exercise, riding my bike twice a day. The exercise didn't help with weight loss during the stall but I felt better as it helped with some of the stress.
I would just suggest to focused on other things. The weight will start to drop off.
Only thing I can say is what others told me. Hang in there, its just a stall and it will pass. Your body is losing weight and sometimes has to stop to readjust.
Your not alone in this. Many of us have been there before and you should start to lose again when your body is ready.
Feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat.

There are plain greek yogurts with WAY less carbs and calories out there. Fage Total 0% fat for 1 whole cup has - 23g Protein, 7 carbs 0 Fat. Try switching up your yogurt. Chiobani is not the best for what you are trying to do and has too much sugar too. Skyr icelandic yogurt is great too.

    1. The stomach is sleeved.
    2. The small intestine is mostly bypassed to the larger intestine which causes less of the food you eat to be absorbed. (Malabsorption)
You are forced to eat less due to the size of the stomach.
What you can eat, not much is able to be used by the body.

I'm not a surgeon, but I would think its possible to switch from a sleeve to a DS as you've done step 1 already. Just need to do step 2.
I'm sure others will help explain things more and cover what I missed here.

Oh God no, you were clear, it was me only sharing half of what the ole brain was rambling on about ha!
I Think I have an DS and get dumping syndrome BUT I'm not the norm because I had a sleeve done 2 weeks before... So actually not sure if I have a DS or RNY, Will be asking surgeon 30th when I see him what I have ended up with!!

Duodenal Switch does not get the dumping syndrome.
I had a RNY in 2001, revision this last June to Duodenal Switch . I know what Dumping syndrome feels like and how it was easy to get used to. Only things I have found that the Duodenal Switch gets is the limitation of food intake and the pain that accompanies it when eating too much as well as the bowl movement issues.
    Hope this helps.

No problems. Just want to make sure that I communicated that from what I have been told and personal experience there is no dumping syndrome with DS surgery.
I did an experiment after my RNY to DS revision, I ate something that would have put me down garunteed for a half hour with dumping syndrome. Didn't happen.
I don't miss dumping syndrome. For me it was like an intense flu that came on hard and fast. Sweating, nausea, the works. Lasted for me about half and hour to a hour depending on what I ate and how much.
Now it just hurts to eat too much and the bowl thing is something I'm re-evaluating my diet and supplements to help with.
If OP is experiencing something similar to dumping syndrome, then probably should go talk to the surgeon asap.

Hey guys decided I would post some pics and my story. I’m Mike and I’m 37 from Montreal. Waited a full 5 years to get this surgery. Best decision I ever made.

Surgery was Nov. 22, 2018 and I’ve since lost over 180 lbs! I work out 6 times a week; cardio, swimming and various exercises.

let me know what you think!

My wife had a rny about 9 years ago, and if she eats too much sugar, her blood sugar bottoms out and she gets the shakes and such. Is there a drastic reaction like this on the ds?

I wouldn't think it would be as common since DS'ers have a sleeved stomach - so they'd still have a pyloric valve. Sugar wouldn't hit the small intestine nearly as fast as it would with an RNY'er. But then, I'm not a medical person, so take that with a grain of salt.

    Dumping Syndrome == Sucks
I get it too when I consume too much sugar too quickly (even worse if I mix it the sugar with lactose)....and I was sleeved.
It really varies from person to person. You'll find by-passers who don't experience it. Only way to know is to try it yourself and see.

Conflicting info on that, some say it is less likely and some say you don't get it. It certainly sounds like she is having dumping syndrome though.

No confusion I was just saying the research I looked at some said it is rare for it to happen but does in a few people and then some papers said it never happens, just wondering what else it could be when it sounds like dumping you know?
I have a bad habit of not fully typing what is going through my head and expect people to read my mind and fill in the other bits LOL (like I did with that ^)!
