I’ve lost just over 56 since my surgery in October. I’m feeling great and am super happy about this.
I’m eating most things in very small portions- still focussing on Protein intake and cutting down on carb Intake.

I really don't think that a teaspoon of cornstarch will be detrimental to your weight loss.

48 hours I'll be at the hospital for my RNY surgery

You are in a deprived nutritional state, and recovering from major surgery, so be kind to yourself. Forgive your altered state.
What would you tell your best friend? You would say, it's done - how can I help? Your thoughts can out and out lie to you.
Would you shame someone that needed knee replacement - by saying 'well if you hadn't gotten so fat you ruined your joints, you wouldn't need an 'artificial knee' ? Woukd you shame someone for needing a c-section instead of 'natural' childbirth? NO. You would say - this is an opportunity for you to be mobile again and enjoy your life, live fully. And your body wasn't going to cooperate with childbirth, you have a healthy baby to love.
This surgery is a tool for you to improve your life. Your original reasons for wanting it are buried behind some undeserved guilt and fear. Stay strong, it will improve.

I'm a bit late to the party, but welcome to the site! Catching a cold or the flu before surgery has been one of my concerns too. Have you talked with your nurse? I have my bariatric nurse already assigned and she is walking me through all the stages I need to get through. She'd be the first one I'd ask about a cold, or allergies, or anything like that. We are out of breath from our weight. If a cardiologist cleared you for surgery you'll be fine. Always think positive. Everything is going to work out just perfect no worries.

I’m usually feeling outta breath and my heart rate gets a little fast so I thought that would e an issue but the Cardiologist cleared me for surgery and the Bariatric surgeon says he is confident in the cardiologist that cleared me and his decision to do so. Thanks for ur positive feedback 😊😌

Well 12 days is 10/28 here in Aus.
10am admission. I assume surgery before lunch break so by like 1pm. He said he likes to do bypass first as they are more complex than sleeve

Hi I’m Syrus 38 yrs old,Currently weigh 226.6 Lbs, Height 5’1. I started my journey March 28,2019 my second appointment to see the surgeon is October 3rd, I’ve done almost every test required just need a Stress Echo scheduled for the 27th of this month, a Cardiology clearance letter a Neurology clearance letter and my PCP letter wich won’t be a problem. My biggest worry is that I had a spinal leak in 2015 from an epidural and my surgeon needs that clearance letter from them . Soooo worried out my mind that they deny me....I’m literally almost there 2 more weigh ins 2- clearance letters and a Stress Echo exam away to see my surgeon to discuss a surgery date...

My surgery is Monday I'm sooooo excited. Crazy but I'm not nervous at all. I mean that will probably change once I'm in the hospital but as of right now just excited & hungry lol

Congrats on ur new journey! My Gastric Bypass is on the 28th & I’m nervous scared excited all at the same time, I guess the anesthesia part is wat scares me..... glad ur doing ok, I wish u a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone. Thank you for the words of encouragement! Surgery went well. Hooked up to a morphine drip.
The Dr. Also fixed 3 hernias I had! I only knew of the small one in my belly button, not the other two.
Still in the hospital room overnight, SOP. They gave me an ounce of Jello and it completely filled me up.
Fast food on TV MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH!!
Nausea is so real right now.
The stichtes are glue closures.
Great insurance no money out of pocket.
2 hours before my surgery the first person of the day canceled since they ate before the surgery so my surgery was at 6am not8.
Fast food cravings are gone!

If your cardiologist cleared you I'm sure you're fine. Remember focus on the positive only.....

Means sooo much, I guess it’s the lack of support that makes it a bit more difficult also I hav rapid heart beats for no specific reason and although I was cleared by a cardiologist I’m still afraid.My surgeon says he goes by my cardiologist clearance, I thank u very much for ur kind words n support 😌🙏🏼

Thanks for ur kind words means a lot to me since I really don’t hav any support on my wls. I’m just so terrifíes of going under anesthesia,I worry about everything being ok, just so overwhelmed...

You’ve got this! I had my gastric bypass on Friday morning and was feeling good enough to be released on Saturday early afternoon. Some pain but it’s manageable and I am able to get my Fluid and Protein goals met with no problems. 😊

Congratulations. You've made a great choice to improve your health as we all did. Everyone on here is nervous to some degree. Everything is going to be fine. 🙏🏻
