Wow, I'm so inspired! I have been a little afraid to schedule anything, just because I didn't want to put that kind of pressure on myself, but I just might now! You go!!

    Couch 2 5K

attitudefree- That is similar to the program. I looked ahead, the second week ups jogging to 90 secs, then 2 mins of walking. I think I'm going to repeat the first week, just because I haven't exercised in so long. I have heard in general that interval training really ups calorie & fat burning. I'll take what I can get these days..lol

I made it through my second workout of the Couch25K program yesterday. whew...I even improved my time and distance a little...YAY!! I'm definitely feeling soreness in my legs but I hope its melting all this flab, so I'll take that anyday..lol The fight of the flab is on!!! So total I've lost 56 pounds in 3.75 pounds! Not as much as others, but I'm really happy with my own progress. Well stay tuned & thanks for reading!!

Itstime- Your Awesome for trying! We are about the same weight! I think what I'm going to do is do week 1 for 2 or 3 weeks until I can get through it without feeling like I'm going to die!! lol The great thing about the human body is that it is SO adaptable. Progressive exercise WILL enable you (all of us) to do more, and feel better. I have exercised off and on my whole life, was an athelete in High School, and am determined to get myself in shape (and shape my body..lol) Lets all keep each other posted!!

    Chicken

I have no problems with Chicken. But as with everything else, it has to be moist. Anything dry doesn't sit well with me. I love chicken cooked in my crock pot. I learned from my lap band, that sauces are key when eating meat. I always always have a type of sauce on any meats I eat. Hope this helps!!

    My 1st Workout: Couch-2-5K

So, as all of you know who follow my blog, I haven't been the best a the big E....yes, sad to say, but my exercise has been lacking. So, while surfing YouTube a few days ago, I noticed a lot of those who had WLS were trying/doing/completed this Couch 25k program. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, its a 9 week program that trains you to run a 5K. Its for beginners so I thought, well, I'm a beginner, I'll try it. Lemme just start by saying that, its been more than 20 years since I have jogged. Now, mind you, the last time I jogged, my body was ripped like Britanny Spears (ok, maybe not that hot, but I was an athlete at least..ha ha) Sooooooo....the workout goes like this: work out 3 times a week, walking and running in intervals (more walking than running at first) for 30 minutes. You can download various podcasts with someone guiding you when to walk/jog. OK, I got my 3 sports bras on, my skin tight leggins, and my running shoes..I get on the treadmill and start, hmmm..as I'm warming up I'm thinkin I'm going to rock this workout!! HA HA HA. I can report that I DIDN'T QUIT, and I DID all 8 (was it 8? I coudn't count much less breathe) sixty second jogs...however, I was seriously sweatin, huffin & puffin...but I DID IT!!! I am so proud of myself, even though I was jiggling in places I didn't know a person could jiggle..lmao! I felt like my body just 'woke up'! I know tomorrow I will be looking for the Ben-Gay or Icy-Hot, but for now, I'm damn proud of myself!! Friday is my next workout day, so wish me luck and stay tuned!!

Gained 2lbs, and guess what I'm okay with it

It is so easy to get obsessed with the numbers isn't it? You are so awesome. Its a great thing isn't it, to really feel good about how you are, who you are...I think I will always be watchful of those numbers, but they won't rule my life like they have in the past. I rule my life now, great post and as always, great inspiration!!

    Weekly Update

Today was my weigh day, and I'm down 2 more pounds! Yay. 55 total!! I've been concentrating a lot more on getting my water/liquids in these past few weeks and I think that is helping alot. I still have yet to incorporate some organized exercise into my daily routine, although I am way more active than I used to be. I know I'll have to get some weight training in to reshape my body. Other than that, I'm doing great, feeling good and waiting for spring to get here!

    Help! Need encouragement

I agree with Tiffy & DeeDee...research is key. I know I did, for almost a year before I chose my surgeon. I had 2 surgerys in Monterrey, Mexico. One for lap band, the next, after 3 years, to remove band and revise to VSG. I stayed at San Engracia hospital both times, so I can only speak about that one. It was IMMACULATE. The cleanest, I've ever seen and I've had 3 kids, 3 other surgery's in the U.S. It is a private hospital. The nursing staff was unbelievable, tended to my every need. (and I had a lot of 'em...the first 3 days I dry heaved non stop) My doc answered his cell every time I called him (even at 10 pm at night!) My coordinator was awesome. When my daughter lost her purse (with her passport in it), she got on the phone and within an hour security brought it to our room in a plastic bag, not a thing missing. The hotel we stayed at was a Marriot, which was also immaculate. Nothing at all bad to say about my experience. Hope this helps!

    I have a date!

I didn't have any type of pre-op diet at all, but I've heard that others go on liquid diets a week before.

    Sleeve Tomorrow

Please keep us updated, and best of luck to you!
  23. congrats on your upcoming surgery date! I lost about 35 pounds my first 6 weeks, and I'm over 3 months and have lost 55 pounds. My joint/ankle/knee pain has disappeared!
  24. I took prilosec after my first week post op. I've never crushed any of my meds. I take several scripts now, and have never had any problems swallowing them. I even had to take horse pill type antibiotics at 6 weeks when I had an abscess. (I did break those in half, but didn't crush) Someone else might want to chime in, but thats just how it works for me. Also a note: be careful about crushing any time release type pills, from what I understand you need to swallow them whole for them to work as they are supposed to.
