  1. Hi everyone, I am looking for a doctor who does lap band fills. Right now I am going to one in ypsilanti and the cost is $150. Doesn anyone know of a cheaper option? I do not have insurance. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated Thank you.
  2. Hello all, I am now scheduled for surgery for Nov 14th! My birthday! I havent met with the nutritionist yet, or even been given a pre op or post op diet but with this forum I have a general idea of what's to come. I keep reading about "shrinking the liver" before surgery (sounds like a bad disco song :tongue_smilie:....) and I was wondering if any of you folks had tried using the weight loss pill Alli to help in aiding the shrinking of the liver? I'm hyper paranoid about anything going wrong or impeding the surgery so I want to make sure I am doing everything possible for the surgery to go as planned :tt1:.

Lesbians more likely to be obese

This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever seen in my life. RE: babygrl1234 " my straight friends tend to care more about how they look and what people think about them then my gay ones do. " Are you serious? I can't even believe that you live in the same city as I do and would post this. Sexuality has nothing to do with obesity and its hard pressed to believe that this study is legitimate. I have never been prejudiced against heterosexuals but this study could convert me real fast. How about we reverse it and say that heterosexuality is the cause of obesity? How about lack of good fashion is the cause of obesity? Right there we could address those that wear white socks with black shoes. Obviously you can tell by my tone that I'm being ridiculous. which is exactly what this study was and what IS babygrl's comment.
  4. Hello everyone. I posted here before when I started this journey and I have made significant progress since then. I finally completed the six month monitored diet by my PCP required by BC/BS of Michigan (PPO/Community Blue). I have already had my psych eval and now the Barix Clinic Insurance team is closing out my file to send it down to my surgeon Dr.Nunn. My question to the community is what are the next steps and how long do you think it will take me to get a surgery date? Also on a side note has anyone had Dr. Andre Nunn from the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, MI as his or her surgeon? If so how did you like him? Thank you in advance for any info. All your stories are very courageous and inspiring. Thank you for helping me keep the faith.
  5. I am just curious if anyone out there uses the weight loss pill Alli while being banded or has anyone's doctor advised them not to while being banded? Thanks!

  7. hello all, I am just getting the ball rolling on the way to getting lap band surgery. It has been quite the process. I am going to get the surgery done at the Barix clinic in Ypsilanti michigan. My insurance covers it with six months of documented diet from my PCP with a nice emobossed letter head note. I actually had to switch PCP. My original one wanted me to see a $600 month dietician. Hmmmm I think they might be trying to help each other pay off their vacation homes. My new PCP is on board and hopefully this will be done sooner than later. I just wanted to say that all of your posts are mad helpful. I read them at night after work and they keep me positive and hopeful. My first question of many to come is if anyone has had the psych evaluation what was it like? I have mine scheduled for this Friday and I just want to make sure that nothing interrupts the process. Thanks again for all your honesty and courage.
