Doing better today. Hope everyone else is also.

Boy, this is the tread I was looking for. It's been very difficult for me also. Where is my resolve? I did well at home but at work it was such a struggle. And the dinner invitations out didn't help one bit! I'm soooooo glad the holidays are over. I need a support group meeting and to speak with a nutritionst. I think that will help. In the meantime, I'm praying and trying to be prepared for each meal. Take the guess work and the temptation out of the way. Hope we all have a happy and healthy new year!! Who deserves it more than us!!!

I was just banded on Oct. 13 so I'm new at this. I was wondering if you could post what your restriction/sweet spot feels like. I thought I had restriction but it was gas!! Now I'm not sure what I'm feeling inside me. Someone mentioned in the chat room that you feel like you're going to throw up. Is this the same for everybody? Thanks!!

"down the shore" -- how about meeting at Kelly's? Oh the memories!!!!!!!!!!

Today I did my best. My Thanksgiving dinner was 1 palm size slice of turkey, 1 tbs of turnips, 3 tbs of stuffing, 1 tbs of green bean caserole, and 2 one inch thick pieces of jelled cranberry sauce. After dinner I wanted to try the apple pie. The second bite almost killed me! The pain was awful! YEA!!!!!!!! The band did it's job!!!!!!!!!! For this and SO MANY OTHER THINGS, I am truly thankful.

Include me in! I'll try my best, just fill me in on where and when. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Any one here interested in the Lap Band Conference in March?

I remember when I was in OA this acronym (sp?). NEVER be H ungry A ngry L only or T ired Keep up with the protein. Try and let go of anger. Sometimes your right, somtimes it's not worth the effort. Get a pen pal, join a book club, keep in touch with people. Get rest. You had a hard day. Be good to your body.

How are u getting your protein in? (share tips and tricks)
MyTurn replied to Crummy78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm finding out that one of the best ways of getting my protein in is by being prepared. Have the right stuff in the house, make my breakfast and lunch the night before and I'll have a better chance during the day. I've stopped the protein shakes about a week ago and I started paying the price for that. My nutritionist suggested that I make an 8 oz shake in the morning and drink 4 oz in between breakfast and lunch and 4 oz between lunch and dinner. This will boost my protein and hopefully keep the hunger down. -
2009 - New York City Banded Together-Lapband Talk National Event
MyTurn replied to CoachCher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
YES!! I want to go. Where and how much? I'd like NJ and want to know if I have to spend the night at the hotel. Can I go, attend the conferences, go home, then come back? Keep me posted. Atlantic City sound fun!! -
I'm not sure if I'm a slow looser yet but I do believe I'm in bandsters hell. I was banded 10/13 and have lost 10 lbs since then. A little slow don't ya think? I have an appointment with my doc on 11/19 and I'll fill him in on my food plan and weight loss. I'm not sure why the scale isn't moving. I have ALOT to go. I just thought the first few weeks the pounds would melt like butter. And as for eating regular food, I think maybe I can eat more than I should. I'll just have to hear what the doctor has to say.

Are they available anymore! When I try to get on I get a message that tells me to download Java which I did. Then when I tried to get in the chat room the same message appeared. What do I do now?

Is something wrong with the chat room? I haven't been able to acess it for days.

At work I weigh myself daily but I only take the number on "weigh-in Wednesday" seriously. This way I see what's going on but I don't freak out daily.
-
looseweightin08, Again, congrats and thanks for giving out your "how I did it" map. Everything you wrote has been written before, but it's nice to know that it's the real deal and it is doable. When we follow the doctor's instructions and get great suggestions from our friends on the board, WE WILL SUCCEED!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!! This will be me one day (I say over and over again to myself!). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, post any favorite food meals, snacks, etc. Thanks for your help and inspiration!!
-
Oh, dear. I'm greatful that people responded but this wasn't really what I wanted (lol)!! Let's hope more "seasoned" members of the board read this post and share their experences with us. And yes, absolutely, let's keep an eye on each other. The more buddies I have the better!!

newcreature, I won't jump all over you like a kindergarden child yelling "will you be my friend?" , but that's just what I want to do!! Your experience is a almost mirror of mine. I am 50, banded this past Monday, and agree I needed more than two or three days off. I want to drop 100 - 110#. I know this is possible. My challenge now is to figure out if I'm hungry or having gas pains!! Good luck with your journey. Keep posting.

jetti, it's so good to see someone else from NJ and banded by Dr. Bertha! My band date was 10/13. Feeling a little light headed and tired. I thought I escaped the gas thing but I didn't. The pain I'm having is not the surgery cuts but gas, so I'm walking, walking, walking....... You're loosing weight at a great rate. I'm sure you'll make your 100# by 11/6. Good luck.
-
Well, I'm banded!! Didn't have a good day yesturday but I sort of expected that. I have a great deal of trouble sleeping because I sleep on my stomach. The gas is non-existent and my throat is much better. I'm glad the surgery is over. Now I follow the food plan, keep a journal, try to find an unflavored protein powder, and start some type of exercise program.
-
Yippee! I haven't lost in about a month and then...
MyTurn replied to PaulaTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself almost everyday. But the only day that counts is my "weigh-in Wednesday". That's the day I take what the scale says as the truth. -
How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
MyTurn replied to cynw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
downsdc, What is the name of the unflavored protein powder that you are using and is it REALLY unflavored? Thanks a bunch. -
I start my pre-op clear liquid diet after midnight tonight!! Monday is the BIG day! I'm sooooo happy!! I really feel this is the right thing to do. Good luck Smashing Pumpkins!!!! Good luck to us all!!!!!!!!!
