  1. God bless you and your family. Remember to focus on one thing at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself if you can help it. All the best.
  2. Boy oh boy do I know how you feel!! My best answer is an expression I learned in OA, "if you want to win hang out with winners". I am trying to make one meeting a week. I am also trying to have one or two days worth of meal plans ready at all times. Good luck with this. I've lost 60 and regained 40. I'm struggling now but thank God I am moving forward.
  3. Have you tried Lane Bryant's? I had luck there. I'm 5'4'' and 256 lb. Good luck. I know what you're going through. You will succeed. This is just one of those painful steps we take on the road to recovery.
  4. Hi, anyone know how i can make the shake supper thick? I'd like to feel full after i drink it.
  5. I haven't read all the posts yet, but I had to put in my 2 cents. The band has NEVER taken away my hunger, or appetite. I thought it would. What it has done is make me feel full sooner thereby cutting down how much food I eat at each meal. I still get hungry when it's not time to eat. My appetite is still very strong. What I need to do is put in place a food program where I eat the right things. That's why I'm here. For help, support, and ideas on eating and getting through the rough times.
  6. I did the liquid diet for 3 days prior to my surgery. I was very hungry and tired because of it. But, that's what you do.
  7. Hi, Anne! Best of luck to you! I'm in central Jersey. My best advice is find support groups and GO!! Ask your dr. for a list and make that a priority. I'm banded two years and fell off the wagon hard. I'm back on track now. The scale is moving s l o w l y. But that's ok. Slow and steady wins the race. Keep informed. Keep involved. You'll do well.
  8. I come to read these posts everyday. They keep me motivated. Thank you so much for posting! This is like a face to face support meeting without leaving the house.
  9. Good luck to you. Glad you're here. This is the BEST support group you will find!
  10. HOW can you figure out your basic met rate?? There is a test that tells you how many calories a day you loose?? Would someone please post more info on this? I never heard of this and I would be interested in following-up on it.
  11. I don't know how much I can help except to send hugs and good wishes to you. Yod did all the righ things, called the doctor and followed his instructions. Hope this has a good outcome. Keep us posted. All the best.
  12. I LOVE these suggestions! Can't wait to try them!! Thanks!!!
  13. I had the BEST food program today!! Is there a thread where people put what they eat? I'd love food ideas!!
  14. Hi Fluff! I'm going through the same thing. I lost 50 and put on 20. So good luck to us both. I'm lost as to what my next step should be; what diet (food plan) I should be on, how to start exercising again.
  15. Any help with cold cuts would be appreciated. Do you eat hard salami or bologna? Wrap this up in lettuce or use cheese as the bread? Also, and someone explain ketosis? What is it? How do you find out if your in it? Do you buy the strips at a pharmacy? What are you looking and hoping for?
  16. Are there any meetings/support groups that meet during the day? Any info would be helpful.
  17. Glad I found this thread. Will visit often. Banded 10/2008 and lost 50 lb. only to gain 20+ back. Need to read about success to help motivate me. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!
  18. I need to do something like this, also. Pls count me in! I hope I loose at least 5lbs! Good luck to all of us!!
  19. hi. it's been a while since i've been here. just glad to be back and wishing everyone well...
  20. Doing better today. Hope everyone else is also.
  21. Boy, this is the tread I was looking for. It's been very difficult for me also. Where is my resolve? I did well at home but at work it was such a struggle. And the dinner invitations out didn't help one bit! I'm soooooo glad the holidays are over. I need a support group meeting and to speak with a nutritionst. I think that will help. In the meantime, I'm praying and trying to be prepared for each meal. Take the guess work and the temptation out of the way. Hope we all have a happy and healthy new year!! Who deserves it more than us!!!
  22. Today I did my best. My Thanksgiving dinner was 1 palm size slice of turkey, 1 tbs of turnips, 3 tbs of stuffing, 1 tbs of green bean caserole, and 2 one inch thick pieces of jelled cranberry sauce. After dinner I wanted to try the apple pie. The second bite almost killed me! The pain was awful! YEA!!!!!!!! The band did it's job!!!!!!!!!! For this and SO MANY OTHER THINGS, I am truly thankful.
  23. I remember when I was in OA this acronym (sp?). NEVER be H ungry A ngry L only or T ired Keep up with the protein. Try and let go of anger. Sometimes your right, somtimes it's not worth the effort. Get a pen pal, join a book club, keep in touch with people. Get rest. You had a hard day. Be good to your body.
  24. I'm finding out that one of the best ways of getting my protein in is by being prepared. Have the right stuff in the house, make my breakfast and lunch the night before and I'll have a better chance during the day. I've stopped the protein shakes about a week ago and I started paying the price for that. My nutritionist suggested that I make an 8 oz shake in the morning and drink 4 oz in between breakfast and lunch and 4 oz between lunch and dinner. This will boost my protein and hopefully keep the hunger down.
  25. YES!! I want to go. Where and how much? I'd like NJ and want to know if I have to spend the night at the hotel. Can I go, attend the conferences, go home, then come back? Keep me posted. Atlantic City sound fun!!
