Correct, if we all could loss weight by exercising right after surgery - why didn't it work before surgery???

Indeed. Maybe that's why some people think one must exercise hardcore after WLS to be successful. They forget that everyone's different.

    7. Ok, 30 minutes of cardio done for today. I did get the strength training completed yesterday. Hmmm, I would love to catch up with an old friend...maybe more than one. I guess I'll have to see who answers the phone today.
    Happy Wednesday!

I totally agree that you should consult your team and personal doctor! This is just one of his videos and he doesn't say not to walk, which I think in the first months is all my bariatric coordinator's papers said for me! We share things on here to expand different thoughts...by all means, everyone should follow what is good for their bodies! I just ordered his book and subscribed on YouTube..bought his book yesterday and will report back once I read it!

I'm 6 days out from surgery. Drinking is still painful un my upper chest area. I'm still sore at largest incision site but its tolerable. I haven't been hungry or sick. Even though hubby has been cooking some delicious smelling foods. I actually could go back to work if I wanted to but I'm sitting on so much PTO, I might as well use it, or I'll lose it at the end of the year. I'm down 13 lbs already, woo hoo!![emoji322][emoji119][emoji813]️

No worries! I went to my nutritionist yesterday and she A-1 approved! Used it and it was so easy to use and clean up.

I think Dr. V. was talking about from the perspective of a newly operated person taking in 300-400 cals per day. That you should delay the gym gyrations until you have your nutrition set and are working it with enough cals to support intense gym workouts. But he never said don't walk. He wants people to walk from day 1.

Hmmm, yes. That's what he's saying. I guess people think I'm saying "we don't need to workout". That's incorrect. Light workouts in the beginning and work your way up.

I was cleared at 8 weeks. If my surgeon says it’s ok, I’m good with that

Question: Would you enter a brand new car you purchased into a Daytona 500 race? No
So why would you start going to the gym shortly after getting a new stomach? If that worked for you (going to the gym) before surgery, why are you still obese? I haven't had surgery yet but I was into fitness/exercise before my slip/fall injury 2.5 years ago which has brought me to my August 27th VSG surgery. I've seen several posts of individuals wondering why their weight loss has stalled after 1 month because their lifting weights and going to the gym almost every day. Ask yourself, "What am I burning off?". You are taking in during your first month less than 500-600 calories, you are working that off at the gym and then, guess what "your hunger comes creeping back". No, I'm not an expert but I do have common sense. I want us all to be SUCCESSFUL & our first year is when we can turn this weightloss thing out!! So worry less about strenuous workouts and more on figuring out how to give your body more LOVE through figuring out how to balance out the right amount of food and nutrition. Remember - weight lose is 80 percent food and 20 percent exercise. Below information was taken from "Women's Health Magazine"
Here's what that might look like:

"I see this in patients all the time,” says Lofton. “People think, ‘If I run the marathonor start going to boot camp, I’m going to lose weight’ but they’re often disappointed when they don’t.”
You don't need to hit an exact 80/20 ratio to shed pounds, but it is important for people to focus primarily on diet when they're trying to lose weight. "You can lose weight without exercise, but you cannot lose weight if your nutrition counteracts your energy expenditure through exercise," Matheny says.
WE WILL ALL SUCCEED! God Bless

I was able to in about 30-40 minutes! I just took small spoonfuls, while looking on here online. That was my first time eating anything solid! I haven't tried eggs yet!

Keep in spirits! I had to hold my side where the incision was to walk...I didn't try regular Gatorade, but Propel (room-temp) worked well for me. I have the Protein Powder from Unjury and it also worked well for me.

I have a Blendtec blender (was not the best choice, but all I had). I actually put more chicken and Tomato sauce than I could actually eat and then spooned out the 4 oz. I cooked my sauce with seasonings, but didn't warm up the canned chicken.

And P.S. today I weighed and I am. 188.8, proud and yet humbled by It All- never even dreamed I could have THAT success- especially at 73 years. PCP thinks now I AM TOO SMALL- bullfeathers- I am less than 15 pounds from my Dream- we will renegotiate THEN and only THEN.

If you're on full liquids, you can blend banana and PB in a vanilla Protein Shake. Bliss.
I called it my Elvis shake and it was one of my favorites.

Add more Water, sufficient Protein supplements, start Vitamins when instructed and try to be patient because getting back to normal takes time.
You are at a caloric deficit while healing so all of your energy is going towards that but it will get better soon 💜
