  5. I think you are doing great and as long as you feel good. Keep up the great work!
  6. I did go through that also, but now at almost 6 weeks out and I have the opposite problem. My only issue now is getting enough calories in each day.
  7. I have been trying to us My Fitness Pal to track my diet, but it won't save my entries because I am at 800 or less calories a day at this stage. The most I can do as of now is see my current day and go from there. Any tips?
  8. I picked up a series of Richard Simpsons videos when I had my VBG in 1998. I switched them around and did one everyday along with walking 2 miles a day. I wasn't too far out from my surgery when I started.
  9. I fit into a smaller size jean yesterday and was ordered off all my BP meds!
  10. Happy Anniversary, you'e done fantastic!
  11. Welcome to the group! What surgery are you planning on having? I had a revision to a bypass in Sept. and I am strting to feel myself again and even got into a smaller size jean yesterday. Jump into the forums and you will find so much information and helpful people to help you!
  12. Good morning! May I suggest getting up every hour and just walking around the house for a few minutes. This helps to pass the gas and will help you with the pain as well. I wasn't good at doing this and my pain lasted three weeks. As far as getting the water and protein down, just take sips, and then wait and then repeat. I have been using a marked water bottle that really helps get my water in. If you continue to have trouble keeping anything down I would contact your surgeons office and let them know. They may have you go in for a swallow test, or something. Best of luck on your journey!
  13. I have been relying on comfy clothes to get by. My first day back to work I wore a long sleeve t-shirt and black work out pants. I can wear jeans now, so when I go somewhere it is jeans. I happened to save my smaller clothes, so I should be okay for awhile.
  14. Mikey, I am so excited for you, have, been watching you as you succeed, and can't wait to hear how it all goes! Will be thinking of you Monday!
  15. Today I had a Dr. appointment for knee injection an decided to try on a pair of my old size 14's and they fit!!! I am also now completely off my BP meds!
  16. Hello Tank184, I'm from MO also!
  17. The struggle is very much real! I ended up buying a water bottle that tells you to drink up and has measurements on it to show what you have drank so far. It has helped, but there are times where I lose track and find myself behind on my water and really you can't catch up, or can you? I was told that I need to eat every 2 to 3 hours even if I am not hungry. Even that is hard for me. I know this phase will end, and soon we will be on to other challenges in our journey!
  18. First of all I want to thank you all for your replies and concerns. We were without power after a major storm Monday morning so I didn't see your replies until this morning. After skipping my BP meds yesterday, today my BP is 109/71. I have already sent a note to my regular DR, who I see Thursday. I am still a little dizzy but so much better. Since I couldn't cook yesterday I spent the day getting in more liquids. I plan to concentrate on liquids again today! Again, thanks for your support and caring ways! Lynda
  19. I woke up yesterday with so much dizziness that I had trouble walking. Last night I checked my BP as I normally do and it was 71/49. I did not take my blood pressure meds this morning. Anyone else have this happen?
  20. I am pretty sure you won't lose the old you. What you will lose is bad eating habits! I was nervous also, but 4 weeks out I feel like everything will be fine!
  21. I was told I could resume all medication once I got home. I am thinking I may be able to quit my Lisinopril!
  22. I agree with you Mrsean! I can't imagine being able to eat so many calories a day!
  23. I just switched to the soft food diet yesterday, and I think that will help my weight loss. My dietitian wants me to get 1000/1200 calories a day, but I think that is too much? As of yesterday I am still getting between 300 and 500 calories a day and I know that is not enough. Last night Hubby made Maidrites and I made acorn squash, sweet for him and savory for me. It went down great, and lots of leftovers for me!
  24. Good morning Mikey, I had my surgery September 16th. I was supposed to be in the hospital for 2 nights but ended up there until the 20th. I ended up having my gallbladder out and they took the entire stomach after they made my pouch. I have finally hit the no more pain level which is great! I can get my water in if I try really hard but it is the calories and protein which I struggle with. I got one of the motivational water bottles and that is helping me get my water in. Yesterday was my 4 week appointment and I am now on the soft food stage, Yay! Just remember everybody's experience is different!
  25. I thought my date would never get here, but it does go quickly! Back when I was an EMT in Iowa I also had neck surgery, I wish you the best in both of your upcoming journey's!
