I am almost 6 years out and doing well. Except, suddenly I am not able to eat. I spent the other night with such pain after eating that I couldn't sleep and considered a trip to the ER. I could actually feel a mass in my upper left side. The mass has gone away, but now I can't even have liquid without pain. I just switched jobs and my insurance is not in place yet. I talked with the surgeons office yesterday and they gave me the spiel about chewing and no carbs, (which I don't eat because of reactive hypoglycemia) I do have an appointment with them today, but am worried about the finance part as well. Has anyone else had a stricture or blockage in the pouch? If so what did it feel like? Thanks! Lynda

I can take in liquids and a little soft food like cream soups. Causes a bit of discomfort and my bowels are working fine. Not sure what that means. I did find out that my insurance is active and was given a copy of my card Friday. This seems to have happened for no reason. I live about 30 minutes from where I had surgery. I have now developed pain in my back near my right kidney. Not sure what that means either. I will let you all know what I find out. Thanks!

The Nurse ordered me in for a STAT CT for today and then told me to stay in town for results, but I can't get in anywhere until Tuesday Morning. She told me I should do a liquid diet but to add in cottage cheese and other soft foods. I wonder if she even heard me that it hurts when I eat? She mentioned a hernia or a bowel twist as a possibility but then told me to eat a soft diet and take laxatives. I am not constipated! UGH

I had gastric Bypass in 2019. I have gained about 13 pounds back, but pretty happy overall. Last year when I was laying flat on the floor and went to sit up I felt the oddest sensation. It was a pain and pressure along with a knotty feeling protrusion that popped out in my stomach right below by right ribs. I was able to push it back in. I saw my gastric surgeon, who couldn't feel anything but sent me for a CT. The CT showed nothing. However, this protrusion has happened many times since. I even had my husband feel it last time to ensure I am not going crazy. Has anyone else had anything similar? What are your symptoms and what has been done for you? Any advice? Thanks! Lynda

I have thought of leaving it out, but like you said, ewww. Mine doesn't appear often either. I will take a picture next time and mark it. I believe mine is incisional also. I had an open sleeve in 1998 and a tummy tuck in 2000 and then by pass in 2019, so there are plenty of opportunities there! Hope you get some answers too!

I live in the boonies and our local Wal Mart doesn't carry everything and not even sugar free hot chocolate. Hope someone has a recipe as I am surely craving it! Thanks!

Has anyone else developed this after surgery? I will be at three years in September and my symptoms are worsening. I wear a monitor but find that I am crashing more and more. Yesterday my glucose dropped to 301 They are sending me to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Lewis to evaluate my pancreas and are saying I might have to have part of it removed.

I usually carry the Glucoe tablets with me, or hard candy. I start with one piece of candy or 2 glucose tabs. Start low and recheck your glucose levels after 15 minutes and then treat again if your sugar hasn't come back up. Other than avoiding carbs and sugar as much as possible. I might get 40 grams of carbs a day, but even then I might have issues. Sometimes I am unsure why mine drops. I am being referred to Barnes Jewish Hospital in ST Louis to figure this out. Good luck!

It really is exhausitng, and frustrating. I basically eat the same thing every weekday, ocassionally my normal snack will cause a spike and a drop. Aggravating!

I managed to lose my weight and keep it off, but about a year ago they diagnosed me with Reactive Hypoglycemia. I wear a monitor and eat very low carb. I recently spent the day in the ER due to being light headed and the only thing that showed up was my red blood counts were slightly low. Otherwise I feel pretty good, like the way I look (except some loose skin) Love wearing a size 4, but sometimes it is hard to find my size. Funny, that was an issue when I was in the 200's. Now I look at the larger sizes and wish they were in my size, lol. Picture of me on the right.

I also developed Reactive Hypoglycemia about a year ago (I probably had it longer, just didn't realize) I wear a Libre CGM and have discovered it reads a bit lower than my one touch meter. I have been following The Glucose Godess for tips on how to eat without creating a huge spike and a deep drop. I feel like so much food is out of my reach now as almost everything causes a spike. I see an endo for this issue and strive to keep my spikes under 150. I have heard this can be reversable, but not sure if this is true.

It wouldn't hurt to monitor your levels!

I have gone unconscious once (before I had a meter) and sometimes I go as low as 37. I have been to the Dr and am trying to control this by eliminating foods I know I should avoid. Today my sugar is high at 180.

I am trying to control my with diet. My low yesterday was 48. Today I am running at 180 and not sure what do do about that. I ate super healthy all week and yesterday had a latte that dropped me in 2 hours after drinking it.

I too have developed hypoglycemia. Yesterday I had a reading of 48 and I have gone as low as 37. I agree with you "no more simple carbs" This morning however my blood sugar is in the 180's.

Would this be the case if they also took out your gall bladder?
