  1. Hey Time2live, won't be long now, when do you start your pre-op?
  2. Hi Mandi, As much as it would have been a hoot to meet ya for coffee. Unfortunately, the closest to me is Kirkland Lake, and it is about 6 hours from here. I guess we'll have to prospone coffee for a while. Oh well.:phanvan
  3. Your information is wonderful, I look up to all you pro-bandsters. I'm sorry to heat about your port, hope your doc can't clear that up for you.
  4. WTG!!! The gas pains for me about 2-3 days, but got a bit better every day. I took gasx whenever possible.
  5. Kiana, no your not the only one!!! My doctor put me on 3 weeks of opti-fast diet. 3 gross shakes a day, nothing else!!! Now before you start to cry, as I did, let me tell you, It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I had a harder time the week before I started it, worried, than I did once I was on it. That said... Day 1,2 and 3 are the worst, prepare for headaches. After that just keep remembering that it is only for a set amount of days only, and that it will make your surgery 100x easier for your doctor(it cleans away your liver) and your recovery! Trust me. Day 20 and 21 were a little harder cause you do get sick of it, but you have the excitment of getting your band soon to take your mind off of it. You'll do fine. You can PM me if you like. Good Luck!!
  6. I'm kinda confused. I know ultimately we should eat 1/2-1 cup of food. Now my surgeon says that he wants me to eat until I'm satisfied, so that if I gain weight or not lose weight then he knows it is time for a fill. That I'm to work on the quality part of my diet, and the band is to work on the quantity part. But I see that some of your docters are saying only to eat 1/2 -1 cup now. If you don't have much restriction yet then arn't you getting hungry? Or maybe your one of the lucky ones that will never need a fill. I'm curious to hear what you guys have been told or your point of view to what my surgeon has said.:grouphug:
  7. Robyn, I'm just looking at your numbers. You've lost over 100 lbs since last August? Wow, Speak!....what are you eating?, how many fills to get it right?, excersizing? ...etc...I wanna know:) !
  8. Ya, I guess now that I think about it, your right. My poor husband I'm sure dosent no what to say. For the past 19 years he has had to dance around the subject to protect my feelings, or in case he said the wrong thing, thus never getting sex again....lol.
  9. Alright Leila, I'm sending ya some positive energy right now!! You'll do just fine. We want to hear all about it, when your up for it!! Your trip sounds wonderful!!
  10. mandi, which route r u taking through Ontario?
  11. Okay, don't you think that after enduring 15-20 years of obesity, endless sleepless nights, seeking out a surgeon and a relatively new weight-loss procedure, 3 WEEKS of opti-fast, abdominal surgery, not being able to eat, wondering if your doing aright........losing 38 pounds......that if someone noticed you have lost weight they would TELL YOU!!!!!! Apparently, not so. After whining to my family that I seem to be the only one able to tell that I've lost weight, they all said they noticed a different area of my body looking smaller....but were afraid to say anything.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused: ,
  12. hey meow, your smart not to have a scale at home. Mine is an obession!! wheetsin, you really are doing awesome, and I have listened to your wisdom on many occasions. thank you.
  13. BEST WISHES BUFFIE :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: WERE ALL ROOT'N FOR YOU P.S. what helped me when I was waiting to be put asleep was to think about the CLOTHES I was going to buy when I'm thin, by the time I got to the shoes to match, I was asleep;) .
  14. Thats really exciting, I guess we wont be hearing from you the days while your traveling.
  15. Thats great Wheetsin:high5: !! How many fills have you had, if any. I don't think I'm going to do that good so quick, my hunger has returned with a vengence, and I'm not even on regular food yet. How was it for you, the last 3.5 months? Love to hear your journey thus far.
  16. I want that complication:) !! WTG!!
  17. Irishmist - Yes, that was me! My surgery was scheduled for 8:00, I arrived at 7:15. I just hope my husband didn't talk you and everybody else's ear off in the waiting room, he's a great guy, but tends not to shut up once you get him talkin. phone - Yes, extremely happy. But I've only been banded 18 days. No regrets!!!! mandi - When are you moving? jude - Glad to hear you doing good:) !
  18. Erin - I have a husband like yours, and I thank the heavens for him every day, were so lucky. Try taking your earrings off, or go get a hair cut, bet those scales go to 299.5!!!!!!!!
  19. Hi jc, I actually just got off the phone with my surgeons nutritionist and this is what she told me. Right now we are healing so eat foods that will be easy on your band. Don't worry about the weight, eat till your satisfied. When we start to eat soft food and regular food it is our job to pick quality, and the bands job to limit quantity. If you have to eat more then you think to be satisfied, then time will indicate that you will need a fill (about 2-3 weeks). That seemed to make it simple to understand. It also takes a bit of the pressure off of us.
  20. found her.....tybalt.....was banded by Dr. Mumford. You should send her a PM then you can ask all the questions you want!!
  21. there is someone on here who went to Dr. Mumford, for the life of me I cant remember who. I'll go back to see if I can find her. You won't get nausous, just put some quick dissolve gravol in your purse for after if your worried, they work fast! It's normal to be nervous, but don't, it isnt that bad, especially if you've had any kind of surgery at all before.
  22. Hello May friends! As some of you guys have read, I have PB"d already too. I really hope to never do that again. I have a real hard time with the slow thing. Old habits die hard. I have food just going down my throat as I'm chewing, and I'm not even swallowing yet. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op, and can really eat alot of soup and mushie stuff. My nutritionist said not to worry, It's about healing not losing, right now. But I don't want to gain. Is anyone really hungry still, and craving food, or is it just me. I guess I'm getting a litlle impatient maybe. I also have another question, I have almost lost 40 lbs, yet my joints and knees are worse than ever. It feels like bone on bone. I am wondering if the fasting and not eating much depletes joints of fluid ot something? Has anyone else experienced this, its very weird.
  23. hi betty, I hear Dr. Mumford is awesome!! Are you on opti-fast now? If so, hows it going?
  24. I remember a few years back I was shopping in a drug store when this old guy comes by me and says out loud "people like me could shop easier if people like you didn't take up the whole isle". I wanted to go up and slap him, but I didnt because that would be assault, but really whats the difference. People like that are PIGS!! Things like that stick with you forever. Oh well, piss on him:) . In a couple years when I'm slim and fast I hope I get the chance to run the bugger over with my shopping cart....lol.
