  1. I just got my date today 10/11/19!!! I agree the holidays will be weird, but in a good way. Its a time to make it more about family and less about food. You got this!! Just stick to your nutrition plan and you already be on a great road for success!!
  2. My nutritionist said right from the start to weigh and measure everything. It was a real eye opener for me on my "guesstimated weights/measures" vs. the real thing. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I plan to continue weighing, measuring and tracking to keep myself on track for long term success. It's like anything else once you get in the habit it just becomes second nature when you're planning your food. Good luck on your journey you got this!!!
  3. This is awesome thread! I hadn't seen it before thanks for posting.
  4. Congratulations on your surgery! I hope the pain settles and you have a speedy recovery!
  5. Thank you Alex. I have been looking at a lot of these and plan to get some on hand for post-op. I like that you have sample packs! I hope your recovery is going well!!!
  6. I like Quest bars or Think Thin. I only use them in a pinch. My nutritionist would prefer I don't eat them at all as she really wants me to push healthy non processed foods. Sometimes that protein bar is a quick go to though for a missed meal.
  7. I'll definitely look for it! Thanks for the recommendation!
  8. I'm going to rethink my milk. I have a bunch of this powder so I'm waiting to see what the recommend after surgery which will hopefully be next month. https://www.optimumnutrition.com/en-us/product/gold-standard-100-whey This is the powder I've been using it has very little sugar, mixes well and tastes great.
  9. I've seen that milk, and need to give it a try. Looks pricey, but I figure my overall grocery bill will still be cheaper due to the shear decrease in food. Plus I would rather pay the extra for something healthy. How is the taste?
  10. Thank you everyone! I figure I'll get a whole list of stuff when I see the surgeon, which should be next month. I used to use almond milk, but the nutritionist suggested going back to regular milk (lactose free) for the added protein. Its always good to get outside opinions especially for protein powders, some taste really gross.
  11. I'm just curious if the Dr's recommend a certain or special kind of protein powder after surgery. Right now I do a smoothie almost daily for breakfast with Optimum Nutrition Powder. However, 1 scoop plus 8oz of milk is 200 calories. Two of these a day would pretty much put me at my calories for the day early on, which I'm guessing would be fine since I would get most of my protein in .
  12. Ironically the more water you drink the more your body will release. Once you're body is getting what it needs it will release the rest vs. holding onto the excess. Drink, drink, drink!!!!
  13. That's awesome yours went away!! I was looking into the sleeve, but after doing some research and talking to my Dr it looks like bypass is my best option. I've heard/read that the sleeve can make GERD much worse. Keep up the amazing work on your journey.
  14. Congratulations!! Keep up the great work!
  15. Congratulations on your surgery! I'm still in the pre-surgery process. This is a dumb question but what's the difference between liquids and full liquids?
  16. Congratulations!! I have Excellus as well, I'm hoping to get smooth approval when the time comes.
  17. Great job you look awesome!!
