  1. Don't worry, with this wonderful lapband, you won't need it anymore.

    Three years...and starting over.

Well, I think we need to hear some more positive things instead of one horror story. I lost 30 pounds in my first 2 months! I am doing great and I continue to lose weight every time I have a bowel movement! Advice for you: eat more healthfully! It really can't be that big of a mystery as to why you gain weight. I mean, you don't gain weight by eating right and exercising.
  3. I know! I am forced to go off bread and pasta and that's what amde me fat in the first place! It's a blessing!

Obese blamed for the world's ills.

Lol, they actually make some good points in there... kind of a stupid article, nonetheless. Not very academic.

    What is a "fill"?

It is when the doctor injects saliene into the port into your stomach and thereby fills the band, tightening it.
  6. Yes you can eat before the fill. However, you can only have liquids for 48 hours after the fill
  7. You need to stick to the post op diet or you will have complications. I stuck to mine and so did a lot of other people. It is not, by any means, an impossible thing.
  8. 1.) Eating a little bit and being so full! 2.) Losing weight and feeling better than I have (about myself and literally physically) than I have in years. 3.) It saved my life. ________________________________ I believe that this website is here for people who have a bump in the road, and they tend to post just that. As this can be very discouraging for new people thinking about the band (and quite scary), I want to post all the wonderful things about this wonderful invention. Yes, I can't eat bread, but I don't want to (I lose twice as much weight when I don't). No, I was not feeling full restriction on my first fill (it takes a few to find that perfect spot). Even if you have a few complications, as I have been saying: Would you rather be fat and unhealthy or thin and unhealthy? I think the choice is obvious! This band is wonderful. I recommend it so much. Everyone, keep on banding.

    I need some support

The important thing is to research on your own and make sure it's right for you. I recommend you spend at least a hour a day on the internet learning about the surgery. Ask your doctor any questions that you have about the material you have read. Ask YOURSELF, "can I live with eating very little for the rest of my life?"... that's the difficult one to resolve and a lot of people figure it out post-op. What to expect post op: the post-op diet... 2 weeks of liquids and 2 weeks of mush. It is very hard and it is not pleasant and if you cheat, you hurt yourself a lot. Can you stick to that diet?
  10. My mom has one - the symptoms are much like a heart attack. If you have a good doctor, I wouldn't worry about an "insurance scam." There are different levels of severity in this illness, but however small, it needs to be repaired or there is a lot of pain. When having the lap band surgery, the doctor fixes the hiatail hernia in the same operation. It is pretty common.

    Scared!!!!!

Don't be scard... let me tell you some great things about the lap band: 1.) I can eat 6 strrawberries for Breakfast and be stuffed. 2.) The male attention is nice 3.) Everyone is flattering me now because i look better than I have in years I love my band, and you will too. Read some of my posts to get a better look at lovely band life. Yes, some food will feel like it's stuck and will take a few minutes to go down... but the answers is simple - don't eat those foods.

What is your typical daily diet?

:thumbup:I have 2CC's in a 10CC band, so I don't have full restriction yet, but I do have some... Breakfast: Fruit or oatmean or cereal (only a little fills me up greatly in the morning) Lunch: Turkey and cheese (no bread), I like lunchables lately Dinner: Any kind of chicken (not fried), potatoes and vege I do snack a little, but it's mostly low fat things. Lost 4 pounds a week since surgery.

    What is this?

Want to hear a success story? I have lost 4 pounds a week since surgery. I can't eat bread, but I shouldn't be anyway. I healed up in 1 week, totally healed in 2 weeks. I honestly have to tell you the worst part is the healing, and even that isn't bad. No pain now, thank God. Thank God for so much GOOD that has come from this surgery. Please, don't be scared. The Lap Band is a beautiful thing! It HELPS! Bad stuff happens, but, heck, a LOT of bad things happen to obese people! Lets say that you have some complications... would you rather be: a.) Don't have the surgery and be obese and sick --or-- b.) Have the surgery, maybe have a complication and be thin and sick ??? lol, I think the choice is obvious. __________________ And KristyK... imagine how great it's going to be to go swimming next year -- IN A BIKINI!
