I'm 9 days post-op bypass. Yesterday I had my 1 week appt and I'm down 23 lbs [emoji4] I haven't been this weight in about 10 years. I'm already very excited that I went through with it!
I'm mostly meeting liquid and protien goals, walking my 10k steps/ day, and dr cleared me to ride my beach cruiser on flat trails.

I was on my preop and I stuck to it to the T. I love fruit bars and all I said is I would check prior to eating them on the preop. That’s it. Glad your dr said they are ok. Mine was super strict. It was just prior to surgery I didn’t want to do anything to make it not to happen. By the way my life is far from boring. I was not saying for anyone not to eat them but to check first in case they weren’t suppose to. I was trying to be helpful and it appears people would rather be rude and take it for something other than what I said.

Hi, I have been doing good all but Friday was bad, when I was so constipated it was horrible. They should have told me to take the Mirilax instead of waiting to be constipated from the pain meds. I know about the sipping part, I am a fast drinker or should I say was... but every now and then I forget. Other than that it’s been good. So weird not hungry at all. I see you are Vegan. That is awesome! My oldest has been for about a year and a half. I was Vegetarian for many years. I am not now but still haven’t had beef since a kid. We eat a lot of homemade veggie dishes, I am going to try and go back to vegetarian at least. My downfall is cheese. Nice to see weight come off now with this surgery it is really amazing.

I had the sleeve 5 days ago. Was so constipated and belly hurting. Had an icepack on all day. I wish the surgeon would have told me to take the Miralax before i called today. The nurse said the Constipation is usually from pain meds and once they are out of your system and eating food it is better. I would definately try some if you didnt already. I am not really hungry. Constantly sipping on Protein Shakes or clear Protein, gatorade, broth. Caffeine free tea, or Jello and sf popsicles. I also froze some protein shakes in little containers to make it easier to get down. Seems to help.

Holy Cow. I am only allowed: Clear Liquids, Protein Shakes, raw veggies and Tomato Soup. Mine is 2 weeks pre op. Just finished day 3. Not even steamed veggies..which I don't understand. Crazy how they vary so much with length, meats, small meals etc.

I am suppose to be July 8th. Have my 3rd and final weigh in Tuesday. Only my husband knows, I didn’t want anyone talking me out of it. I have too many health issues so I am more than ready to get started. I have been preparing people slowly, I quit drinking pop, beer etc. told everyone I bought a new total gym and asked if anyone wants to come work out. So not sure if/when and who I will tell. Still didn’t decide. Good luck everyone and keep us updated.

Hi, this post breaks my heart. I grew up in the 80’s and I was a bit of a wild child to say the least. Had lots of fun and good times. My son is your age. (I have 2, and 2 stepsons) There is a definite distinction to making love and sex. A man that truly loves you doesn’t care about weight, skin, makeup or anything but you and your health so you are there for with him forever. Having sex is just going through the motions with someone who could or could not care less about you. Making love is special between you and your loved one and you can feel the love. You really cannot compare the two. This is totally separate from dating.
Now to the dating part. A man is going to treat you how you make him treat you. You need to realize your self worth, how you deserve to be treated with respect, caring, thought-fullness, honor, kindness and want to take care of you. If you see a man and he isn’t kind to his mother, family, people you see him interact with, he isn’t going to be kind or respect you. Does he open the door for you? For someone walking in? No... then don’t even give him the time of day. Does he have children? Does he see and take care of his kids? Does he complain about child support? If he not, he isn’t going to try and take care of you.
Now to the most important would be you. Stop and put your self first, show confidence, take the time to do the hair, makeup, clothes, put some jewelry on and do it for you! It will make you feel better! I would definitely see a counselor and see why you don’t feel worthy of love. Women and men of all ages, shapes and sizes find love everyday. However, if you don’t see the worth in yourself how is someone else? You need to carry with you your demand for respect and worthiness. Sometimes we do things like put a wall up to keep people away. This seems like very much what you may be doing and feeling so low about yourself that you took anything to be accepted. A counselor would certainly be able to help you and remember this and your weight could all be long gone if you work on it. I would also look into your insurance, call them most it seems will remove some of your excess skin if it is causing rashes etc. So if it happens, you may be able to get it taken care of and not need to worry about it so much. Please feel free to reach out to me privately, you cannot ask me anything I would be embarrassed about. I would love nothing more than to see your success story here and having a happy family. Be confident and demand respect and it will fall into place. Good luck to you.

It’s my 5th day of this preop diet, been a little crazy with my brother in down and parties and going out. Just played it off that I am the designated driver, got to say not loving this liquid and raw veggie diet. My mouth tastes like metal not sure if from Protein Shakes or Vitamins. Yuc. 9 more days to go. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s success. Thanks again Mom_of_chaos.

And do you have a firm goal to head to? My highest was 365+. my Surgery weight was 319, and 10 months later I have. broken the 200 pound barrier and am 198- 199. That's a place I never could be without WLS.

I always feel like the best way to get back on track is to follow a structured plan. Whether it is Weight Watchers, South Beach, Keto, Whole 30.... having the limits established help me stick to the particular plan. Set up a small goal with a planned reward for yourself. Not food! A new book, a trip to the movies, a manicure or a new nail polish.
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Good luck! You can do it!

This quote hangs in my kitchen near where we come in and out as a reminder to myself and to my family to always live in the ring, to never sit the bench in your own life. As I sat here drinking my Protein Shake waiting to get the kids off the camp so I can go to bed (Night Shift) I really started to reflect on how this quote relates to us and to all of you in our WLS journeys. We've all faced adversity, failures, judgement and yet we are here, still making the conscious decision to change our lives. How many times have people outside the ring made hurtful comments about not needing surgery, but will power, or about taking the easy way out? They do not stand in this ring they don't know your struggles and they don't know how NOT easy this road will be. I can't take credit for the quote itself, it's from my girl Brene Brown but it's hung in my home for a long time and its brought peace in many situations I have face especially the journey I am on now! I wanted to share because I thought it may help someone else to see that those critics don't matter. Their words are painful but their words cannot stop us from achieving all that we have set our minds to. Have a great Wednesday everybody! ❤️
