  1. I hope I don't lose my love of cooking, that's my passion and my artistic creation. I enjoy cooking for others.
  2. Congratulations, you are graduating with us!!! We are close in dates, my final pre-op is on the 17th , surgery is on the 31st (vsg).
  3. I have been on this journey since September 2018 and the free goodies came from the Obesity Help Conference. Those items are for various stages of post-op life. I'm currently drinking protein shakes, that will decrease some of my inventory pre-surgery. Also, one of my friends gifted me with a case of protein from her pre-op days. This is my new lifestyle, I'm ready & committed.
  4. I'm just about ready, wanted to share with my graduating class as well. (Broths, plates, utensils and other items not pictured) maybe later when I get closer.
  5. Great thread, pre-op people should read this to help establish realistic expectations.
  6. Hey Danny, I was assured in the support group I attended last night that what you are experiencing is absolutely normal. Let's talk about it if you want to, what's going on? I'm awake for another hour give or take. What does your support system look like? Have you had surgery before? Are you afraid of anything in particular?
  7. I took a few pictures of some of my pre-op goodies. I went to the Obesity Help Conference and was given so many different kinds of free samples, especially when I shared that I'm pre-op. There's a variety of products ranging from protein shakes, vitamins, bariatric foods (vegetable pizza crust not pictured and purchased after tasting), post-op food from unjury and etc. I know our tastes may change, but I'm getting these protein drinks down. I have spices, extracts, decaf teas and I will add ice to make smoothies...lol !!! Long story short, a few more cases of water, gas-x , miralax , a good mouthwash for dry mouth and a neutral toothpaste... I'm ready. I didn't take pictures of everything, I didn't feel like pulling out all of the boxes of broth, Bariatric Advantage Vitamins full size, water bottles, Better than Bullion jars, other pill organizers and etc. Who else is ready or what does your maintenance look like?
  8. Aren't you excited? The reading and gathering of information is way beyond overdrive. I'm having my surgery on the 31st, keep me posted. See you you in the January Surgery thread.
  9. Get your rest, its been a long day. Congratulations and rest well tonight.
  10. I want the red crayon, lol. Anyone else joining the family? Btw, the kids menu is very filling now, for me but the choices suck for an adult palate.
  11. Well, if you adopt Steve. You're automatically getting a soon to be sleeved daughter, lol. Collectively, we shouldn't all eat more than 1 plate, lol.
  12. Congratulations and you are going to do great. You deserve this.
  13. Read the hospital bag thread, lots of great ideas. What are your essential items for your comfort?
  14. The best way to win a man over, is through his stomach....that's true no matter what!!!!
  15. Not that people on here view themselves as experts, its just real life experiences that the Dr. & Bariatric team can't prepare you for. This information is best from real life bariatric patients, because if it weren't for this forum I wouldn't be having this procedure either truthfully. Today, I have battled myself and I don't know why, I contribute it to nerves. Then I look at your stories and many ppl on here & I know that I have got this. So, go buy those new clothes in due time and happy reading.
  16. The congratulations is because through all of the stress and panic, you made it through lady. Thankfully you had a team of professionals who helped you through the panic attack, praying for you and that pain.
  17. I was just wondering what you were doing in Vegas. I came on here to check on you and omg...my stomach does the same thing due to stress/nerves. Nothing is going to go wrong, don't put that energy into the universe even if you think it. Put the energy out that, you are going to have a surgery that you are prepared to handle the pain and recovery process. Believe that you are worthy of whatever you envision and those will be your results with hard work and dedication. You are the only one physically going through this process, but you are not alone in this. Besides, the rest of us January people need a very candid and detailed account from those of you before us. I live alone, so I need to know what to do and how to prepare my mind....
  18. The unfortunate result of this and her timing with her latest display of metal instability is that it's taking your focus away from your healing. I'm not an expert and I don't have a degree, but I did grow up with my family members who were either mentally ill diagnosed or not diagnosed and family members who were drug addicts. She's unfortunately not going to be a positive light in your life or even her own. Her sisters are also incredibly dysfunctional as well and which leaves you without an immediate family bobd it sounds like. You wanted the time to make things better and to heal old wounds, but that's not what has occurred either. The people who you are related to may be happy with who they are and that's fine for them, but not you & it's fine to acknowledge that this crap is hurting you. It is also fine to start your TRUE healing process and seek therapy to really discuss in a neutral zone how this person has made you feel & could affect your healinh if you aren't careful. Lots of us are good maskers of our pain and say we are okay when internally we aren't and don't have to be. On the surface we lead productive lives and carry on with our heads high, but that pain festers and grows like a cancer that spreads. Steve she has changed your narrative this weekend and taken the spotlight from you and put it on her, once again. I apologize if I have overstepped my boundaries, truly. I just understand more than you will ever know what you are experiencing, it just wasn't my mom but her daughter and son. Also my siblings by my dad's mother (drug addict), so I understand the mental cruelty and abuse. Live for you and hopefully you are strong enough to free yourself from those bounds and chains, therapy is good....it gets ugly, but it helped me. I probably wouldn't have this surgery without it, I wasn't always obese. Food became a comfort on top of pre-existing health conditions.
  19. I'm going to a support group this week, my goal is to leave with a wealth of knowledge and insight into other's experiences and helpful tips.
  20. Congratulations and there a few people having surgery tomorrow. Check out the January 2020 thread and may you do exceedingly well tomorrow. Welcome to BP ?.
  21. Today, makes pending surgery more of a reality for me, this is the last time I'm babysitting my grandson before surgery. I need the next 3 weekends to finish preparing and organizing, prior to the 31st. I've been declining social engagements as far as into March, I never realized how much people celebrate around libations and food. I'm going to focus on self- recovery, new lifestyle norms and exercise. This change is happening to me and not everyone else, but I get the anxiety and fear of the unknown. Some of my relationships may not survive...January 2021 may look very different from January 2020.
  22. You're welcome and know that you are not alone. I have a good anxiety cry when needed, better to release that energy.
