    Hair losssssssss

I spoke with both my surgeon and my gyno. Neither gave me any answers. I had blood work done and everything. My TSH was 2.8 which is "normal". My surgeon assured me that it would stop but looking at my drain and hair brush, I would argue differently. I think my next stop is my derm and I have my 6 month checkup soon as well.

    Alcohol

I waited about 6 weeks till I was on solid foods and tried red wine. I got, and still do get, a very warm sensation in my stomach. I tried Champagne about 4 months post-op. That is my favorite. I can usually get away with one glass, but not always. I get super buzzy with just a few sips. I don't do liquor anymore and I certainly stay away from anything with sugar. Rose and whites tend to not go down well so I stay away from those also.

    Hair losssssssss

6 months post-op and my hair loss started about 6 weeks out and hasn't let up. I am so lucky that I had a very thick, full head of hair because the loss is shocking (especially in the shower). I am down to about 1/4 of my pre-op follicles. I have tried everything from taking Nutrafol/Biotin to Rogain to strengthening conditioners. It is also dry and incredibly brittle and frizzy. I read a blog the other day about DHT blockers from a bypass patient. My hair is thinning like male pattern baldness and I am a female-- still decently thick at the bottom and you can now see through my hair line. I have started with pumpkin-seed oil and rosemary oil. Both these are natural DHT blockers. I do wish my surgeon would have been more forthright on the hair loss as I could have prepared myself better. I have never had a problem with the thickness of my hair in my life even after other surgeries.
  4. 5"2 here, 6 months post bypass, now 156, lost 50 lbs (began at 220-ish) in the first 4 months. I lost it scary fast and have problems with alopecia now. I've had a hell of a time this past month losing which has been attributed to my body knowing this weight from the past. I have gained a lot of muscle though. I work out 5 times a week with 4 of those being with a trainer. I think everyone's journey is different.
