  1. My port flipped and i had it fixed on Tues. 7-08-08. I went in as out patient but, stayed over night. I had general anesthesia and was so sick from it. I was banded in April so the surgeon went in the same suture line for the port as when he put it in. It has been 2 and a half months and that incision was just healing so I am very sore. Iv'e lost 1 day from work. I hope this is the 1 and only complication I will have. I need to go back in 2 weeks to see the surgeon. My doctor keeps telling me this is a "work in progress" he believes in small fills about 9 in 1 year. He wants me to have all the benefits without being sick. He said I should be able to eat almost anything with the band just a lot less. I have lost 30 lbs. since April 16th, 08.
  2. My port flipped and my doctor can not access it so I am stuck I have to get it fixed. If you can not access the port then the whole lap band system will not work(if you can't fill it) Maybe your doctor can still fill yours?
  3. Hi, It sounds like you need a cardiologist, if you get winded by doing small task and your finger nails having been turning blue on you. Also it can be possible that you are alllergic to the material in the band. They can do what we call Immunoglobins, and check to see if antibodies are in your system. Certain immunoglobins are markers for allergens. Hoped this helped ( I am an RN)
  4. Hi My evaluation was from a therapist it took 20 mins she asked me a few questions about my education ,family life, growing up to present she asked me if I was always over weight ( No I wasn't) and that was it $175 for 20 mins!
  5. OH NO I lost 20lbs in 4 weeks banded 4-16-08 I am going to see my surgeon on 5-19-08 so I guess he won't fill my band .. I can hold about 6-8 oz.
  6. Hi Maria, My name is Tina and I am a RN I specialize in Nephrology and my patients are on dialysis. I live in the US 25 miles outside of NYC. I actually have a patient that is on dialysis get the lap band 2 weeks ago. She is doing fine. If your condition is stable there is no reason that you can not be banded ( I do not know the rest of your medical history however). I was banded on 4-16-08 and have lost 20lbs. It is not so easy , but , it is worth it. I had pain for about 3-4 days, and some days I am nausiated. I feel so far that the band is going to affect everyone differently as I compare myself to others comments on this site. Ask your doctor questions and I hope you have a nephrologist (DR. specializing in the kidneys) I am sure you will need medical clearance from him/her. Good luck!

I was Banded on 4-16-08. I was in pain (the port site mostly) and needed 2 weeks to recover --go back to work. I too had the same struggle in my mind, before AND after I already did it. The key is to stick to the regime. If you go off it then all the things the liturature says will happen WILL. I often said to myself I should of just went on a diet one more time ...then reminded myself I was on phen phen redux meridia weight watchers hypnosis jenny craig and all the tv and on line diets slim fast need I go on. I have lost 20 lbs in 4 weeks and have begun to fell it is worth it .. when you put on something that did not fit you will fell differently...and as a nurse I can tell IT WILL AFFECT EVERYONE DIFFERENTLY!
