    Gaining

I only count my weight once a week on the same day. Continuously stepping on the scale may drive you crazy. I stepped on it one day between my regular weigh day and there was a 5lb difference. By the time it got to the actual day there was loss.

    2 month mark

Agreed! I have to keep in mind that although this information is based on scientific studies, they are still estimates not specific to everyone.

    Microwave

I have not had one in months, but they were a suggestion made to me by my nutritionist if I did not feel like cooking. But be mindful about the sodium and car intake.
  6. Wow!! You both are looking fantastic, keep on motivating each other. It is so helpful when you are not alone through this process. 👍🏽
  7. Thanks so much for sharing this video! Sometimes we forget the basics, because I know for a certainty I have not been chewing 20 times when eating.
  8. Right now, I think you need to focus on getting well and getting through the next few weeks and not focus so much on the weight loss because it is going to fluctuate. I remember my doctor telling me not to worry about losing weight until after my first pre-op appointment and not to expect more than 10lbs over the first few weeks. Focus on getting your body well, then move on to the next step. I hope this helps.

    Dry Mouth at Night

I also keep a bottle of water beside my bed to sip on at night. Then I get frustrated because I have to wake up a few hours late to go to the bathroom. 😂

Another Stall? Or is this it?

Does anyone else find that if they don’t exercise the weight does not drop? Maybe it’s my metabolism but I am a very slow loser and I have noticed that if I do not incorporate some type of exercise into my routine, I barely lose anything regardless of how healthy I eat. I realize diet and exercise work together, I just think it’s interesting how the body works.

    30lbs

That is excellent! I keep reading posts where we have been conditioned by what we should be losing based on what we see on television as well as comparing ourselves to others. It has been almost 3 months for me and I am down 40lbs. I had to accept that my body and metabolism is specific to me. Not to mention, when was the least time I lost 40lbs in 3 months....that would be never. Try to stay focused on the fact that you are definitely losing and getting healthier every day. I wish you the best. 👍🏽
  12. I usually use Premier Protein Caramel, however I have to get some more and did not feel like going to the store. I used what I had and it was the Vanilla Creme Muscle Milk Protein Shake. It was surprisingly good and I only added one pack on splenda.

    PAIN! WTF!?

I am sorry to hear this. I asked about this very issue during my last appointment. I was told that most people lose their hair due to the body being shock after surgery, not so much of a nutrient deficit. I even asked about taking biotin and collagen and my dr said that it was inevitably going to happen. I believed her but I still bought and take the pills.

    Tears of Joy Finally!Rave!

I love this story, and I know you will do great on your interview-that is a real confidence booster. The real question is what will you wear now?😀
  17. I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I can literally eat, feel full but then under/below/behind that feeling is the sense that I am still hungry and growling/pain sensations. I usually just try to ignore it except when I first wake up because then it is unbearable.
  18. Diet Snapple Tea...I combine half water, half tea in a fruit diffuser water bottle with lemon and lime and freeze to make it a little icy.

    REGRET

PLEASE KNOW THAT YOUR ARE NOT ALONE! The first week, I kept asking myself so many questions: Was this really necessary? Why could I have not just lost the weight on my own? What have I done to my body? What comes next? Who should I tell and what are they going to say when I tell them? It has been 7 weeks and honestly, I do feel a lot better but I still question my sanity when I think about the actual procedure and what was done to my body. My husband, children and sister know but I still have not told my parents. This is because they have their own minor medical issues and if I am being really honest, I did not want to hear their opinions or try to change my mind and I am 40. I know they love me but if I have to hear that "you are never going to be a small person" or something about "family genetics" again I am going to scream. It is not about being small but being healthy- yes ultimately being smaller is a welcomed side effect but overall the goal is to be healthy and happy with ourselves. In the end, I know they are supportive in their own way and eventually I will them. I think once you are home, over the initial hump and able to eat a normal modified diet, your feelings will somewhat subside. When I woke up in the hospital, I was crying to my husband and told him he did not need to be there if he didn't really want to help - it was a mess. Now, I realize I was just a little overwhelmed about the entire process. Finding this board has been really helpful because any question I have, I can always research and find it here. I wish I would have found it several months ago. But continue taking your meds and speaking to your therapist and know that it will definitely get better a little at a time.

    May 2019 Surgeries 🎉

I just wanted to check in and see how all of the May 2019 people are progressing. Personally, it has been a couple of weeks of ups and downs. I am struggling to stay consistent with my eating patterns. Some days I feel famished, other days I do not have a taste for anything. My main goal moving forward is to maintain an actual exercise scheduled. What about you all?

    Meal Prep

I have been "trying" to do weekly meal prepping to avoid wondering what I am going to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is especially needed while I am at work - however for the past 2 weeks, I am fine the first couple of days, but by the end of the week I am grossed out by what I prepared a few days prior. For instance, I made baked eggs/veggie cups and turkey bacon for breakfast this week. I was fine Monday and Tuesday, but Wednesday thru today I have been choking it down. Today, I could only tolerate bacon which means I am not getting in my protein for breakfast. Is it just me? Do you all prepare a variety of food selections? I am trying not to waste money or food but it seems inevitable.

    Meal Prep

Thank you so much for those suggestions. My plan was more on the lenient side so I am eating regular foods, I jut have to do everything in moderation and what my body can actually tolerate. I will definitely look into trying some of those quicker food options. I am cooking for myself and family, so I have been trying to make things that everyone can eat to make life a little easier on me.
  23. I am sorry you were in such pain. I understand where you are coming from. I literally had to ask the nurses for medication in my ivy because my pain was unbearable. I think they were holding out as long as possible. But I did go home with a prescription that helped out tremendously. I think everyone has a different experience because my husband did this surgery a few years ago and went back to work after a few days. I was out for 3 weeks. I also had second thoughts afterwards and still feel minor pain in my abdomen after 6 weeks. I will say that it does get better. I wish you the best.

    Yuck artificial sweeteners

I purchased a lot premier protein shakes prior to surgery, came home and could not stand the taste. I ended up buying some protein powder (plain) and drinking it with almond milk. Literally the day before surgery, I was fine.
  25. I initially scheduled 2 weeks but ended up taking 3. Honestly, I could have taken 4 just to give myself time to adjust mentally. I did not feel like interacting with anyone and was still feeling nauseated quite a bit. Also, if you are starting back on regular food you may need to see what you can tolerate. But everyone is so different you may bounce back very quickly.
