Also try being super flexible about the dress particulars. If you find one you absolutely love & fits extremely well... ask if they carry the next two sizes around it (up and down) and can hold those for you as well just in case. Its going to be very hard to estimate where you'll be (weight wise) by that time.

I would wait until about a month before to choose a dress.

That is awesome! I became eligible for bariatric surgery based on BMI after 2 years of a happy relationship. So, now it is time to take off all this weight and become happy and healthy. Of course, my fiance has only gained about 15lbs and can probably take it off in 2 weeks.

That is so awesome! Must feel amazing to have your other half go through it with you.

I am scheduled to have the RNY on 7/2 woooohooooo!
Problem (but not so problem): I am getting married on October 18th! I have no idea how I should plan to buy my wedding dress. I am currently a bridal size 18 or 20 depending on fit. Any one have any kind of experience with this. I know they say to buy a corset dress, but literally have not found one I like. I am considering more of a rustic/romantic style lace dress. Any suggestions??

Hubz & I are getting VSG together on July 9!

Got my date today! Scheduled for July 1st for gastric bypass.

I have my date, July 1st!! I am also nervous and excited... going for the gastric bypass! Glad I have folks to talk to who are going through what I'm going through.

June 17th! Cleared and ready. Only 2 more medical visits and pre-op labs. Whee, what a wild ride! Nerves are now on edge, but I’m looking toward my better future.

I'd also be interested to know how scar tissue from a previous c-section/tubal will affect the surgery/recovery.
As for how to buy the dress...i'd suggest waiting as long as possible and then making sure they have a very good seamstress.

wow....this is like being in a huge family of nothing but sisters. But thats cool, I always wanted sisters anyway, I only had one miserable, drug addicted, brother who has caused nothing but pain to our family. ANYWAY.....
I went to Sams and bout about 300 dollars worth of Premier shakes and the Clear drinks, which taste ok but leave you with a very dry mouth so I really do not care for the Premier Clear Protein Drinks. Too bad I bout 5 cases. LOL
Surgery is 6/15 and I am only supposed to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet but I have been trying my best to start it early. I have been doing ok but I find myself getting bored at night, especially since being laid off my job a couple nights ago. So I have been slipping in a meal or two of regular food. Still somewhat healthy and has Protein, like hamburger patties and sausage. Boredom is one of my worst enemies when it comes to eating. I have got to find something to occupy my time, something that won't cost money since I am jobless now.
I am also have a hard time weaning myself off the alcohol. I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic, but the last year os so I have found that a couple or a few glasses of Crown Royal or Vodka help me to fall asleep. I don't ever get hangovers and something tells me it is safer than taking sleeping pills (which never worked for me in the past anyway). But, I do know that I need to stop drinking soon and at least until a couple months post op, and even then, only vodka.
Anyway, Just figured I would jump on here and babble a bit rather that go look for food. LOL
I know some of you are starting Instagrams for this journey, If anyone is interested, I have one that is mostly of st journey with my VSG. I haven't posted in a while since gaining back a bunch of weight but I will probably start again with this upcoming revision. Feel free to follow me at JamesL_1973 and I will follow back. I get it totally. Your surgery date is 6/11? Mine is tentatively 6/28 but may be sooner. Crossing my fingers for a little sooner!

Caltania, why was your provider suggesting the sleeve instead? My doctor is the opposite and feels that bypass is the better surgery...

Caltania, I totally get it... My provider gave me the option but was leaning more toward the bypass as he states it’s an 80% weight loss on average of excess weight whereas the sleeve is more like 65%. I need to lose about 110lbs so I decided I needed the extra tool as well.
