Yes, I have monthly measurements and keep it on a spreadsheet and I've also taken monthly photos and do a collage on a free photo editing website to show my "before" photo and "after" photo so that I can see the difference.

One of the suggestions i've been reading before having surgery is to take measurements and take lots of photos prior to surgery and then monthly for the first 12-18 months to show progress. Both not really something I like doing any of, and measurements especially I find hard to take as far as working out where 🤣 I've read various guides and still get stuck there somehow.
Do you take them regularly and look back much?

I'm having the sleeve done, but started noticing a bit more heart burn and reflux recently so was getting worried when reading about the preference for bypass ... so firstly @GradyCat that's so encouraging, and wonderful, for you to hear the sleeve has actually improved yours. @MissLadyK what do they say when you ask them why the sleeve is better given the issues you mentioned and getting another surgeons opinion as others have suggested might be a good idea given your concerns

a really big thank you to each of you for what you've shared here ... and for your encouragement and talking about some of the things you've experienced.
As far as local support groups, the one i can't attend seems to be the only one --- and is connected to my surgeon/hospital (the only one nearby offering wls) but for some reason insurance won't cover it ... so I've been trying to find and join a few more Facebook groups (which means getting over my dislike of fb) as well as being here for some support
i know this is my choice, although it seems a bit like my current choices are disability/death or surgery so ........ i definitely need to take this one
@Azlanie i've heard variations of those comments as well, and they can be hard to hear .... and i need to keep reminding myself i'm choosing this for me and doing it for me ..... my choice not theirs! (and reminding myself again when i forget this)

It’s wonderful you are looking for ways to help her, and as @GradyCat mentioned there is a ton of info you can glean on here that will assist... but having friends for the journey and people going through the same thing can be priceless help. I just came upon this site, I am NOT having this surgery BUT my mother is and I'm looking for ways to help her get through it she is have the surgery on the 21st of this month. She has already started her liquid diet and has 11 days left till her surgery date. I am looking for any good tips of hacks, but definitely advise. I want to do everything possible to make it easier on her, she has MANY health issues besides not being able to keep weight off. I would love if there is any information that's good to know, or if there's anything that she should know but might not. Thanks

Just keep reading through the different threads in the forums and you'll find all kinds of topics that will be relevant to how you mother is going to feel, what she should be eating, what to pack for the hospital stay, etc.

I found it very helpful to contact others having surgery at the same time as me. We were really supportive and understanding of each other and could swap war stories 😊 This is the thread for the August patients, if you're interested.

Oh man I can relate! Every day I was at least a 7 or 8 on a 1-10 scale and really most days I was at a 9-10. I would cry daily. And took pain pills and drank to help dim the pain. It was an awful existence non-existence!
I can tell you the difference at 5'4" and 56 years from 287lbs to 135lbs today is dramatically different!!! I still have neuropathy from cancer treatment/surgery, but my pain at the end of the day is a very manageable 3-4. I live life and can be active now! It's night and day difference in pain relief. And I only have had pain pills for an emergency surgery-and no alcohol for pain management either! It's a miracle! Can't wait for y'all to experience this!!!

There's a few options of Protein but I've gone for WPI 1KG highest concentration of protein per serving and will be best for those first few weeks post op

@Cherylmilla have you found any you like now? i had a honeycomb one yesterday that was drinkable but over the top sweet and led to a headache after. hope you find something that works for you soon
