    RNY tomorrow!

hi, i’m not sure ... but clot wise they may give blood thinners to help, it’s a good thing to be asking the surgeon about though if they haven’t discussed it with you already. After one surgery (not wls) i also had inflatable leg cuffs on for several days which you could also query. I hope you can ask about both of the clots and gas, and they can reassure you and help you get through all of this. good luck tomorrow and in recovery
  2. the good thing is you are noticing this and ready to make those changes to be more accountable 😀

    optifast issue

thanks, i'm going to try again and see what happens as a start and hopefully it was just coincidence i'm glad you both didn't have issues with it
  4. i tried one optifast shake (still deciding on surgery but getting closer) and got a monster headache and brain fog for a few hours following looking on their site this is normal for after a few days on the optifast program after your body goes into keto, not as a reaction right after drinking one shake! now i’m worried about two weeks of drinking them pre-surgery if i’m reacting to something in them like this. i’ll ask the dietician about it before surgery but wondered if anyone else had a reaction like this?

    Abnormal EKG

hi, it can be abnormal for so many reasons so good following this up and finding out why. do you have further tests and an app with a cardiologist sorted to find out what’s going on? hopefully all will be well for your surgery and even more so for your health 💚

    Gah! I think I’m sick!

oooh that's great news you are feeling better! i had this with a previous surgery and a cold, but they went ahead after i'd been worrying a lot before hand that it would be cancelled hope surgery goes really smoothly for you
  16. this is one of the things i'm trying to think about before surgery ...... and have worried about a bit; what will i swap to if i can't eat, so i'm glad to see it being discussed ....and wishing i could find some kind of hobby or interest that will be a positive one rather than something that can end up being another destructive one the way food has been for me
  17. thanks very much for sharing your experiences .... it helps reading this; as far as the information i was given initially that talked about the part that produces ghrelin being removed (and on the link i just read it says " Gastric sleeve surgery removes 70% of the stomach where the hunger hormone ghrelin is produced. " ) so that you stopped being hungry in the same way with the sleeve; and that similar things happened with the bypass, and doesn't talk about it returning although i know that head hunger would still be there. So reading the different experiences, and how hunger is impacted and also how it can be better managed following surgery is better preparing me as well as things to ask about with my surgeon and dietician. I also hadn't realised how important the initial time after surgery was; or that there was this honeymoon period i see people referring to .... so very thankful to have found this site and all of you! @Healthy_life2 thanks for those links to read through .... i've been reading a few books on weight loss surgery as well; trying to be better prepared before my next appointment and to help in making a decision
  18. @mgrand i don't think i'd ever have thought about the possibility of tastes changing like that ........ before reading on here; have you found anything you do like the taste of yet that you didn't before, or is it too soon to tell? @Frustr8 the weight loss itself is great as you mentioned, but what a way to get there i'm sorry you've had such a rough time post surgery, and that there are still so many health concerns and issues ongoing following this. As far as the liquid diet, i was worrying about a few weeks of it; i can see why it would get very boring and hard when you've had such an extended time. i hope things went well with the dietician visit
  19. that's so wonderful that you look forward to those sessions; and that you got such a good report! did you set your goal weight or did someone else? and you are sure on track for november the way you are going
  20. congratulations on your weight loss and hard work, that’s great! and very good you can now make those healthy choices and control cravings unlike before
  21. @GradyCati was reading about the stalls the other night ... i hope you get past yours soon. i’ve sure encountered these in the past with losing weight but hadn’t thought about it with wls @mgrand how have your tastes changed? @sheademo29 i would be frustrated also have you asked your nutritionist/dietician what’s going on there with the hunger and if there’s anything that can help you feel more full? sorry to read how frustrating it is
  22. wow what a time it has been for you! very hard news to wake up and find you couldn’t have your surgery; glad you’ve been able to have a sleeve now and hope you have a good recovery
