LaShunn got a reaction from shublu in Frustration has kicked inSo.... going back to work definitely heightened my anxiety PLUS the fact that I've only lost 15lbs since April 25th. What I do now is take a walk thru the building when my anxiety kicks in at work. I put up a "restroom" sign & start walking. It has helped my anxiety tremendously, however this stubborn weight is taking its time to leave me. I purchased Genepro protein to ensure I get all my protein in. Try walking more with deep breaths in & out for your anxiety. I wish you the best of luck!!!

LaShunn reacted to Carrot64 in To Tell or NOT to TellI’ve always been an open book and that certainly was the case with my surgery.. there have been a few naysayers and some great supporters. In the end I have never been one to be successful or enjoy keeping things secret.. it’s hard to keep up just like a lie and it kind of feels like lying.. I also feel that telling those around me now gave me the extra incentive to prove em all wrong . That accountability will help me I believe whole heartedly.. So, do I wish everyone thought I did it without surgery, sure, but I feel I can be an example of how surgery can work and I’m proud of my choice.. with this said , I TOTALLY understand anyone who chooses to keep it to themselves. In some way i wish I was more of a private person .. it is what it is!!!

LaShunn reacted to ChocoTaco in To Tell or NOT to TellI saw someone post once, "No one asked me the details about my weight gain or how I got there, so they don't need to know the details of my weight loss or how I'm getting there" LOL!
For me only my immediate family know as well as 3 close friends.

LaShunn reacted to MeanSleevedMachine in When did you reach your goal weight?I set 3 goals. Only two were weight related.
#1 was to be off all medication and my c-pap. I hit that goal at month 9.
#2 was my realistic weight goal which was to be the same weight I was when I was at the peak of my physical fitness as a college football player — that was 310 lbs. I hit thar goal at month 7-ish.
#3 was my vanity goal that I doubted I would hit. I wanted to weight 265 and finally be a normal BMI. I hit that goal in month 13. -

LaShunn reacted to round2wi in overeating after gastric sleeveI am pre-op for my sleeve so take my advice for what it is!
I had the lap band about 10 years ago, and realize now I was not ready for the band when I had it placed. I am also a over eater and realized through several years of therapy that I actually had BED (Binge Eating Disorder). Once I started to get help for that, everything else fell into line. I am no longer gaining weight but instead am maintaining my weight (I also feel prepared for my sleeve!).
Something to think about, as food is a complex and complicated issue for most of us. If you constantly feel like you are beating your head against a wall, sometimes it is time for some outside help to give you some coping skills. I first started with overeaters anonymous, and then went on to counseling sessions.

LaShunn reacted to GradyCat in I'm in Onederland!OMG! I'm so happy I could dance down the street naked! I FINALLY made it to Onederland today, 5 months post-op sleeve.
I've been stuck in a stall for five weeks, teasing me at 202 and so close but so stuck and I thought I was never going to lose another ounce for a minute or two.
But now I'm finally a LOSER! Yay! So excited! Now I feel like the scale will keep moving and it can go down to meet my goal.
So glad to be in the 100's again!

LaShunn reacted to Jon_gets_skinny in HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?My doctor gave me short term disability time off. Not that I needed it, I was fine and could go back to work like the next day. But hey, vacation for me so not complaining :) but the next day I was up and walking around no problems. Went for a hike actually two days later. -
LaShunn reacted to IWuzaFatDuck in HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?I work in a contact center. So 8 hours sitting and standing as I wish. I have a standing desk. Sleaved 4/25 Thursday back Monday. Little low energy but absolutely no issues.

LaShunn reacted to Friday205 in I was sleeved May 1,2019I was sleeved May 1,2019. I also had to have a hiatal hernia repair as well. Arrived at the hospital at 7:30. Went back to surgery around 9:30. Home by 3. The first 48 hours were pretty rough. The gas was trapped in my neck, shoulders, shoulder blades and chest. I’m better now. Just very sore. Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and checked on me. You guys are the best. By the way, I was sleeved at St Vincent’s East in Birmingham,Alabama by Dr.Long at Birmingham Minimally Invasive Surgery.
