Gastric Bypass - Help?!
Hello char :) I am currently 1day post-op, had a LGS performed. Only speaking from my experience because we seem to share the same past lifestyle. I went on a strict diet, losing so much weight, but once I hit my goal weight, I went back to eating and sure enough gained weight back. I would go back and forth trying to diet, my weight would go down, but eventually go back up. After years of the constant battle I started giving up, and I really let go, eventually hitting 307lbs. I knew I need a serious change if I was going to keep the weight off. So I turned to WLS and here I am. From start to finish it was about 5 months. As far as the after math of the LGS, they pump your body up with a gas to perform the surgery. Well that gas sits inside your body for awhile after surgery causing like a discomfort (not a pain for me), just more or less an annoyance. Like you have to burp but can’t. Other then that, I’m doing great. No pain other then swallowing there’s a small amount of pain. I was super nervous the day before surgery, to the point where I was contemplating canceling it. I kept telling myself maybe just one more diet, it’ll work but I am surrounding by lots of family and I knew, all the diets I’ve done over the past 5 years never worked. I’m glad I didn’t cancel it and pushed through. Now I’m super excited to see how this changes my life. And from reading everyone’s success stories on here, it truly inspired me to push for the surgery. So if you’re battling with your weight, it’s definitely something to considered. Try reading some success stories and I can’t wait to get to my goal weight and post my own story. Good luck with everything ? hope that helps

Surgery is complete! Onto road to recover
Hey everyone! So had my surgery today all is going well so far other then the discomfort of all the gas still in my body (just feels like I have to burp but I can’t) I’ve gotten up to walk a couple times so far to keep the blood moving. I have to stay at the hospital for night, unknown when I can get the scan to check to make sure there’s no leakage but it’s already 10pm so I assume it’ll wait until tomorrow. Quite annoying because all I can have is ice chips until then, water isn’t allowed. Onto the road to a brand new life!

Surgery is tomorrow and I think my anxiety has gone through the roof
Wow, 150lbs is amazing! Congrats! You're exactly right, not to let fear dictate my future. It’s been 5 months since I’ve start, and only one more day until it’s finally here. I like the thought of a rebirth day, the new me day. Thank you so much for your inspiration!

Surgery is tomorrow and I think my anxiety has gone through the roof
You’re awesome! Thank you! It’s certainly hard to push past those second thoughts and the what am I about to do myself thoughts. I’m glad to hear you’re doing great after surgery! I do have my families support but they’re not going through the surgery so it’s just nice to hear it from others experiences the same anxiety I guess. Keep on pushing! Hopefully you’ll be at that goal weight soon enough

Surgery is tomorrow and I think my anxiety has gone through the roof
Thank you so much! That is certainly reassurance because I am having those exact same thoughts. “What if I just give it another go at a diet and exercise” but at the same time I know that it won’t work, it won’t keep the weight off, it always comes back no matter what. I’m hoping tomorrow as time gets closer, I get the same calmness as you did and just go through with the motions. Thank you again, for the reassurance! I hope your post-op is going well and best of luck to you!

Surgery is tomorrow and I think my anxiety has gone through the roof
Hey everyone, So I have finally decided that I needed to reach out for some extra support on this journey. I thought I would be able to “man” up and handle this surgery on my own but let me tell you, as reality finally steps in that tomorrow is my surgery, I’m beginning to feel super anxious about the whole thing. It really hasn’t hit me until today and that’s why I’ve turned here. I think it’s hard to talk to anyone else who doesn’t understand obesity and the struggle of weight loss, they tend to just nod their head and agree or just simply seem like they don’t understand, there’s no connection in the conversation, feels like you’re almost like talking to a wall. So I guess maybe it’ll be easier to talk to someone going through the same experience through all this? Anywho, so here I am. Trying to overcome this surgery anxiety. Thanks for any tips and tricks. I’ve read so many posts and weight loss stories already which has been helping but ya know, anxiety is just always there no matter what. I guess I’m just here to talk with you all about your experiences and journeys on a first hand basis. Thank you again! -Jon
