I got sick of Premier in general. After surgery, I cannot bare to look at them. So I swapped to Iconic Protein Shakes. I love the Cafe Latte and it has caffeine. chocolate isn't bad either.

Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle. Hands down. Plus it is made from whey isolate which is the higher quality Protein. Syntrax also offers fruity flavors. I think that the bp store here offers sample packs.
I have also found that I like the slim Fast high Protein Shakes. Creamy chocolate, caramel latte and mixed berry yogurt smoothie. They all have 20g of protein. You can get them at Walmart or Sams.

I'm one of the few people who doesn't like Premier Protein. I could taste the Protein in it. Ugh. My go-tos were Syntrax and Unjury brand, but those are whey protein. If I were you, I'd just go to a GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and pick up some individual packets to see if there are any you like. It's more expensive getting them by the packet, but then, buying a $30 tub of something you hate and therefore don't drink is even *more* expensive..
btw - several companies make unflavored protein. The two I mentioned do. I believe Quest does, too. I've seen other brands as well. Not they're unflavored - but not necessarily flavorless. They do have a slight taste to them - but no flavors like chocolate added to them.

No meds post-op? Hmmm. I know they told me no NSAIDS because of potential ulcers. I'd be a little afraid of the sugar in the honey. What about an over-the-counter throat spray instead?

Well it is a concentrated sugar solution, I would see if your surgeon would grant you dispensation for it, know it did help pre-surgery. Post-surgery since I am a RNY, I'm too scared of causing my first "dumping".

I miss being able to drink quantities of Water more than I miss food at this point. I feel thirsty all the time but have to be very careful to only drink small sips and only a couple at a time. I am 3 1/2 weeks out from a full gastric bypass.

Believe you me, if I tried that, Precious Pouch would reflux it right back up so fast I might aspirate. She has absolutely no sense of humor, we get along better if I give her no more than 2-3 ounces a sip.

Depends what those 4oz are. I am 6 months out and sometimes struggle with 4oz of meat. But 4oz of cottage cheese is nothing.

I couldn't drink Water too fast for at least eight months after surgery. I could only zip it. If I drank too fast I got a pain in my sternum area and had to walk it off. On the other hand I have a friend who recently had WLS and on day one he's gulping water down with no problem with no bad effects. I told him that I wished that I was able to drink that way post surgery. So, to answer your your question, if you can drink a lot of fluids in one sitting with no bad effects, go for it.

If I drink too much Water too quickly I get "water belly"

PudgeBeGone reacted to Cheeseburgh in High heart rate
I am not a health care professional. I recently read about this symptom and maybe you should ask your Doctor about it. It is something people develop, good news it is usually easy to fix. It also might be your body adjusting to no meds. I’m glad you are seeing a Cardiologist since the heart is nothing to mess around with.
Supra ventricular tachycardia

I wonder if your heart rate is so high getting out of bed because your pressure is so low, as in your body in trying to prevent low blood pressure by increasing the hear rate to keep you form passing out. Can you check your heart rate and blood pressure lying in bed before you get up?

PudgeBeGone reacted to GradyCat in Dehydration??
I'm getting dizzy when I stand up too. I quite taking my BP medicine because it was a very light dose anyway ( 5 mg) and I barely had it and I think after losing enough weight I don't need it anymore. I mentioned it to my surgeon, the lightheadedness, and she said to increase my salt intake.

PudgeBeGone got a reaction from Aprilgal in Stopped losing weight already?
Also my urine is still really dark and I at least try to drink close to the 64oz they say to. And didn’t know if that was normal. And I have found my tummy can’t tolerate crushed Vitamins it makes me REALLY REALLY sick. Has anyone else had this issue? Any tips to help take the vitamins? Or as to why my urine says I’m still dehydrated?

It’s not a stupid question at all and I’m rather shocked your question at the drs office was brushed off. My initial plan told me I’d have to take them twice a days as well but I’m using one specifically formulated for bariatric patients so I only have to take one. As long as one meets the requirements you’ll be fine 😎

I don't know the answer, but I take a bariatric Vitamin twice a day and calcium citrate twice a day, and one B12.

Chili might be a little spicy for you right now and I still can't eat a tortilla four months post-op because it's doughy.

I'd wait, but that's just me. I'm progressing slowly.

You should be able to tolerate those Protein sources, e.g. Beans, pureed. Your body will regurgitate what you shouldn’t have 90% of the time anyway but the safest bet to avoid any leaks is as similar to the diet provided as possible, if you choose other items not on the list.
