  1. This 100% is what I don't miss about being fat. I refuse to wear black leggings anymore unless I am going to the gym and thats it!!! I wear jeans all the time now and I love it!
  2. I never had a problem with spices and them upsetting my sleeve. I love spicy shrimp and once I got to my solids faze I ate spicy shrimp and tolerated it just fine. But like someone else said noodles and rice might not tolerate well in your new stomach just yet. I am a year out and I can barely handle 3 scoops of rice. I'll eat rice or noodles every once and a great while, but they do fill you up fast.
  3. Hey y'all! Well its been past my 1 year surgiversary 07/24. I thought I'd come and check in even though I'm late lol. I'm officially down -81lbs in a year. Started at 261lbs and now 180lbs. Starting BMI 41, current BMI 28... so now I'm only overweight lol and not morbidly obese. But the BMI scale that goes by height and waist size says I am normal BMI range lol. I got to my goal of size 10 Levi's pants!! waist size 30 (last picture) Yay!!! Of course I wanted to get to 100lbs down, but I did not reach it. Regardless I am truly happy where I am now so not losing the other 19lbs isn't a huge deal for me. I am finally comfortable in a bikini again (middle picture) which feels awesome (even though I have cottage cheese legs lol IDC). I am just so glad I had the surgery. I remember I was so scared to get the surgery and thinking what my life would be like and almost backing out of the surgery thinking I would miss out on all my favorite foods post op, but I was wrong. I'm glad I didn't chicken out. I'm finally happy again to be in the skin I'm in... even though its not perfect its good enough for me. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Bacon....

I think bacon is ok, but not every day. You're going to have to choose what kind of post op person you wanna be. Are you a person who is going to be super strict and a stick to everything your doctor says or a in moderation person. So based off of that you'll get different answers coming from a strict diet person and a moderation person. I'm a in moderation person (although my doctor did tell me regardless of what I eat I will lose no matter what in the first 6months). I do not restrict myself and will eat anything in moderation. For the most part I eat healthy and what I should be eating. But do I have bacon once every two weeks yes. Do I eat chocolate once a week yep... have I ate chips yep! But its all in moderation and knowing you have the will power to control yourself and not binge eat. I would make eggs your main focus when you're eating breakfast and have 1 piece of bacon. Or make bacon and put some bits mixed in with your egg. Same goes with sausage and ham. Moderation is the key. I'm 8months out and have always lost and never gained. By 2months 2wks post op I was 32lbs down (started at 261lbs), but like someone else mentioned a lot of factors play into how much and how fast ppl lose. I stalled around the same time as you and for almost 3wks it was very discouraging. You still have a long way to go... as do I, hang in there the weight will come off!!
  6. Do you know how much they want you to lose? PCOS is usually looked at as a comorbidity. Metformin did absolutely nothing for my PCOS and I slowly gained over the years. Keto did help me lose around 10lbs, but as soon as I stopped Keto I gained it back. Before my surgery I lost 11lbs by the pre-op diet that was basically Protein shake in morning and at lunch, sugar free jello or pudding between that when I got hungry and one healthy dinner like a salad. For two weeks. It sucks and not something recommend for long term, but if there is a certain lb'age they are wanting you to lose before they approve you that might help. I'm lucky and my insurance didn't require any weight loss and I was at a 40bmi so I didn't need any comorbidities to get me approved. I am 8months post op and have lost 74lbs! So this surgery does work for us PCOS girls. Unfortunately it only worked on the weight loss. I still have hair growth thanks to PCOS and my periods are still wonky too. Good luck on your journey!
  7. Hey yall!!! It's been awhile since I've been around my last post was in December. So far things have been going well. Typical stalls and temptations!!!!! I can say I have failed at resisting at times. I was 205 the last time I was here and now I am at 190lbs! 15lbs down since I was here last and down 71lbs total. I was so happy when I finally hit "Onederland". Seems like once I hit the 6month mark weight loss has slowed. I am responsible for that though. I haven't been hitting my protein or water goal so I know that will slow me down plus, I've been bad and eating some sweets here and there. I am determined to lost 29lbs before they year mark which may not be possible, but I would like to. I did get to my size goal. Before the surgery I was around a size 18/20 and said all I want to be is a size 10/12 and I am there!!! I have finally got into Levi jeans sizes and I love them!! Boyyy!!! they make your booty look so good lol! But honestly if I stay where I am at right now I would be completely happy. Even though I haven't been losing much weight lately I can tell I am still losing inches. Hope yall are doing good and getting close to where you want to be!! (Attached a little progression)
  8. I've been sick with bad congestion. What over the counter medications are we allowed to take and do we take the normal dose? I have like 6 bottles of children's acetaminophen I was given as a prescription when I came home from surgery. I don't really need a fever reducer more of a congestion reliever. I am sniffling and coughing up phlegm ugh its not a pretty sight! 😷
  9. So I have PCOS and within the past two years my symptoms have ramped up. I could probably grow a decent chin beard [emoji83] lol if I didn't wax/pluck constantly. Its so embarrassing. I hate PCOS not only is it making me gain weight it's leaving me hairy too. It was causing bad acne too, but I feel that is getting decently better now that I don't have so many stressors in my life. I am 260 with a BMI of 40 and other then just weight loss I was wondering if having the surgery help either get rid of the facial hair or substantially slow down the growth of it? 10. I never had dark patches so I cant update about that. But acne definitely improved. Facial hair growth has not. For me it seems to have ramped up... sadly. I was thinking about laser hair removal, but got scared because I seen videos and read about it making hair growth come back worse in PCOS women. I already have it so bad that I don't want to risk making it even worse. My periods have been coming every month and a half instead of every 4 months like that were before. 11. How did everyone do, during Thanksgiving? We went to my in laws. I am so thankful I didn't have to cook everything this year. I managed to eat a small slice of Turkey and a small slice of Ham. I had some mash potatoes and two spoon full of macaroni and cheese. I had a sliver of a piece of pumpkin pie. I figured its only one day a year. Right back to protein protein protein!!!! I hit my 3 month stall during Nov it lasted a few weeks. Last time I was here I was 210 in the first week of Nov and had a 3week stall (UGH!!) and now finally losing again. Down to 205lbs. I am hoping now that my stall is gone I'll start dropping weight steadily again. Anywho, I hope everyone is doing well!!!
  12. How is everyone's journey going? I've been doing good. I haven't been tracking my food... bad I know, but I'm still steadily losing weight. I'm down 51lbs in 3 1/2months weighing in at 210 right now. Only 11lbs til onederland! I think I'm gonna hit that little goal before January like I had hoped. I've seen some people that I hadn't seen since last February and they were like WHOA! You've lost a lot of weight I said about 50lbs and they said wow it looks like you've lost so much more you looks so different! I was like thankssss! So I wonder how my family is gonna react when they see me in person. I havent seen them in probably a year and a half. I had my 3month blood draws done by my PCM since my Bariatric clinic is 2hrs away. I will have an over the phone appt with them after i send them my results. But my PCM was really happy with my results she said my cholesterol dropped and she was happy about that and that everything was perfect. Overall everything is going good and I am so happy i chose to get the surgery!! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Agree... I didn't feel restriction until i had purees which was a week after surgery. At first it was 2oz of puree and it would hurt when I got full. Then I moved to 3oz maybe a month later and now at 3 1/2months i can probably get in like 5oz+. The hurt when full went away at about 1 1/2months and now I can just tell when I'm full. I've lost 51lbs in 3 1/2months. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    I don't know what I am doing!

I was the same I'm glad my doc only did stage 2 liquids for the first week after surgery and the second week he advanced to purees because I was sick of liquids and i was hungry and wanted food. I'm 3months out and have lost 49lbs Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Not sure if this is allowed, but I have a box of Beef Bone Broth never open all 4 are still in the box, 3 Chicken bone broth. I used one, but they are all individually sealed its the orange package. 3 other broths which is Cream of Tomato, Chicken soup, and chicken with pasta (all broths). I have two protein powders. One is Coffee and the other is Double chocolate fudge. Also a Bariatric Pal plastic mug you heat the broths in. So total of 10 broths, 2 shakes, 1 mug. I bought all of this off Bariatric Pal and they are left over from my 2wk liquid diet. I'm not gonna use them so they are just sitting here. If you live close and willing to meet near me somewhere then they are yours for free! I know how costly it is getting ready for the 2wk liquid faze and the first month after surgery! So let me know. I won't hold for anyone (sorry) unless we are meeting of course. So its whomever can meet first. Thanks! (delete if not allowed) Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. meal for me. It makes me so full I couldn't eat with it.
  17. Im basically 3 months out and lost 46lbs with PCOS. I have read if you eat too little that can also affect your weight loss because you're basically starving your body so its going to hold on to what it's getting. My docs want me to strive for 800-1000 calories a day and no more then 25-30g of carbs per meal and thats 5-6 meals a day so like 150g of carbs a day allowed. I know I usually hit the 800-1000 calories a day, but don't hit the carbs mark I probably get like 50 carbs a day. I would try upping your calorie/carbs intake and see if it helps drop some lbs. 18. 3wk stalls are normal. I know how hard it is to be positive about stalls, but they are just that stalls. You'll definitely lose again. I would put the scale away and not check my weight for awhile. Hope yall break your stalls soon. I know normally there is a 3month stall and we are all coming up on our 3 month so we should all start stalling soon if you're not already. I'm not looking forward to it... 21. I felt skinny this morning for once so I snapped a pic. I then added it to my collage and what a difference! I still can't believe the first picture is me. But then I still feel like I look like the first picture and that even though I've lost 45lbs I still look that big. Now seeing the difference I gotta push myself to believe I am changing and to stop seeing myself as before. I'm 5lbs away from the half way mark of my goal weight and I'm 17lbs away from Onederland! I can't wait! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I have PCOS too and I was also so worried I wouldn't lose the weight after surgery. PCOS was the reason I had the surgery since the PCOS gave me the metabolic disorder and no matter what I gained weight and couldn't lose no matter how little I ate and how much I worked out. My brother lived with us at the time and said he just thought maybe I wasn't working out hard enough and eating while I was out. Even though he'd ask me if I wanted something from whatever fadt food he was getting and I would always tell him no. When I finally told him why and it's because of PCOS he felt bad lol. I'm 2 1/2months out from surgery and I am down 45lbs. So I've been losing steadily. I am so happy I got the surgery. I do get scared at times its too good to be true and the PCOS is gonna ramp up and stop me from losing anymore weight then I'll start gaining lol. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hungry after gastric sleeve?

I was the same way after my surgery in July. I was hungry it was not head hunger at all its the burning sensation of your stomach telling you its time to eat and its empty. I can tell you that it never went away and I'm hungry all the time. But there is an upside to being hungry you won't feel like you're force feeding yourself like most people here do because they're not hungry. My bestfriend is like that she had the surgery a month after me and she's never hungry and tells me she hates eating because she feels like she has to force herself to eat and it makes her nauseous. We are suppose to eat 5-6 meals a day and with hunger its an easier task then having to force it. So I'm kinda glad I feel hungry. Before my surgery I was the opposite and was never hungry and would probably eat like 2 meals a day. So when i seen i would have to eat 5-6meals a day I was like oh gosh how am I going to do that i barely want to eat now. But after the surgery being hungry made it so much easier to accomplish that and get in my protein.

    Hair loss

My doc said its the typical shedding cycle of hair normally every 6months, but it can happen sooner for some and mixed with the surgery and how it depletes your body its normal to have a lot of hair loss. I'm not shedding yet, but my hair is dry at the ends. It seriously feels like hay at the ends I was super shocked because I normally have very thick hair and my ends usually feel full and thick too. But now it feels like dry grass lol. Its so weird I had my husband feel and he even said it felt like dry grass too lol. I'm probably gonna get my ends cut and see if it makes a difference in the tips feeling so dry.
