I've found that the best information as far as what to expect out of your choice of WLS for the first year can be found on YouTube. There are endless hours of people recording their journey from pre-op usually until a year post-op. I watched all the ups and downs and learned a lot of dos and don'ts from many people on YouTube well before I had my surgery. It was like binge watching Netflix. I couldn't wait to see the next episode.
It seems most people come to forums like this for immediate answers to something that's going on right now. Each platform has it's own unique set of benefits and weaknesses. I think for research into WLS, YouTube is the best resource to see the bigger picture. For support and immediate answers, groups like these are the best places to go. What ever a person does to prepare for this life altering decision, they should explore every possible resource available. Knowledge going into this is definitely empowering.

You are so new that you can totally go back... Space out your meals timings longer, eat 2oz no matter what you think you want, drink/eat slower.
Some of us way further out experiment with retraining and it works still.
    Safe Journey 🎈

For those of you who have gerd prior to sleeve procedure, just wondering how your gerd symptoms are after the sleeve procedure. I take prevacid daily and it's well under control. I do no want to have gastric bypass which is what is recommended sometimes if you have gerd. I've read where it's not such a problem for some people. Comments are appreciated

Completed questionnaire for Dr Corvala. Very thorough. I did a lot of research on several physicians. I feel he's right for me. Any comments are welcome.

I know what you mean. I'm on the fence as I have 40 to LOSE. Just not working with weight watchers. ( for the bazillion time) BMI is 31. I cancelled my sleeve surgery last month but with all these wonderful comments. I'm going for it . Shooting for a May VSG in May

And they want and need, although kids seldom verbalize it, their Mom, healthier and lighter in weight, actually hip is easier to heal from than knee replacement and I have had 2 of them. But God Bless you, I do routinely pray for all of us on Bariatric Pal, that we have what we need, when we need it and that every surgery is successful and smooth. And those who have not walked the walk, have no room to criticize, nobody knows what it is like 👀unless 🙎they have experienced it. It is not and never will be the EASY way Out, but it rewards in a lot of good ways. 😝

Would you let other people influence your decision on how to treat a complicated medical problem such as cancer or renal disease without a medical degree? No?
Obesity is a disease that is complex to treat and a bystanders opinion is of little value when it comes to your health. You need to decide what’s best for you.

nssmia got a reaction from ProudGrammy in BMI OF 31 AND 35 LB TO LOSE. IS IT WORTH IT?
Was scheduled for a sleeve recently. Then I cancelled it and decided to try weight watchers (for the 4th time) after 1 month very minimal weight loss. Currently 198 and 5ft 6in. My goal weight is160. One part of me says just keep struggling with weight watchers . The other part say go for the surgery. I'm 66 yrs old and in good health except for sleep apnea and gerd. Any suggestions much appreciated

There will be lots of people that say it’s not worth it. That you are not heavy enough that you can do it on your own. Remember every person that got to a BMI of 40 or more would once have had a BMI similar to yours. If it was that easy to lose on your own they would have done so not continued gained until they reached the 40 plus.
