I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Report her to their medical board and your Surgeon. You just had a major surgery you definitely didn't need that extra trauma in your life. I pray your journey gets better throughout the process..

Thank you thank you for started this post! Or restarting it! I can honestly tell you even before surgery 3/25/19 I wondered about this and my weight lost journey especially since I carry my weight in my thighs and butt! I started my journey at 402 and although I'm losing I can't see it so I can relate to those who deal with that. When you hear all the stories of the dramatic drop in weight and I'm thinking when is it my turn.. but then I remember it's my journey and I'm writing my own story for the new me! Thanks for all the encouraging post and comments! We can do it ladies and we are doing it! #anewus!

Try the unflavored Protein packs in some of the foods or liquids you can manage( Celebrate 20g) I get it. The Protein Drinks suck, I even drink fairlife milk (13gr of protein) to help me with my intake. I can't stand those powders nor do I like the chocolate taste of the protein drinks.. so I had to improvise to ensure my protein but I still fall short sometimes, but remember to keep pushing you will get your routine in place soon enough!.

Some places offer financial assistance which will help offset the cost for you. That's how I was able to do mine although approved by insurance my deductible was through the roof so if it wasn't for the FA support I would still be waiting. Don't know where u located but it won't hurt to ask. I wish you all the best don't give up.

I have always been overweight and have a history of it in my family but the biggest reasons why I decided to have weight loss surgery was because right before I begin to work out for the thousandth of times thinking I was going to do another diet plan to lose weight. I got severely injured at work and then before that was a car wreck after all these things took place it limited me being able to exercise and do different things I want to do to try to lose weight and so one day my knee doctor suggested doing weight loss because I was too young to have all these issues especially knee problems. I'm like I agree im too young to have problems like this that stem from injuries but couldn't properly heal because of weight and I work with kids on a regular basis so I'm here to tell you if they're suggesting it to you research it look into it ,if you are faith-based person pray about it and get a second opinion but at the end of the day you make the right choice for you don't let anybody else choose for you you make that decision for youself definitely take heed to the advice if they are giving it. I'm glad I did it most importantly I'm glad I did it for me! I wish you well on journey!

My PCP recommended this because she helped me try everything else and watched me fail. This was kind of a "last resort" for me. That was last July of 2018. The surgery was in late March of this year, but I have to tell you, if I didn't have that long process in between, I probably wouldn't have done it. I had to get mentally ready and I needed all 8 months to get there.
So, flash forward to earlier this month, I lost 40 lbs during the 6 months of nutrition classes and preop diet, then another 10 a week after surgery. I went to a follow up with my PCP and I cannot tell you how happy she was for me. I've been going to the same Dr for 20 years now and I've never spent as much time with her as I did this last visit and the whole time she spent praising me on my hard work and success so far. That gave me some real motivation to keep this going and to put in the work needed to maintain the loss progression.
Good luck to you on whatever you decide.

Nobody is a failure and if you have made it past Surgery and are still alive after 3 years, you are still better than you might have been, being alive beats being dead and buried everytime! Hey buck up Heidihoo, you still got ne, the over 70 wouldn't give up person- ME- I started fighting to get my surgery on a Sunny August 2015 day. I was too old, Too much a surgical risk, I would never survive the surgery, I would just die on the table, one actually had someone tell me he wouldn't do it, even advise it because I would screw up his lovely Surgery Record. But I am a red-headed stubborn broad, I had had enough putdowns in my lifetime, lived so long for others to my detriment, This Was My Life, This Was My Day, walk with Me or stand to one side please, I HAVE BEEN BLOCKED ENOUGH. heard enough B.S. to fertilize an acre-and-half garden space, now let me through! If I die, no big thing, you never cared That Much for ME in the first place! And 7 months ago, Ms Frustr8 also called "Brunhilda the BullHead" by some behind my back or even to my face. received. my RnY surgery. They did warn me it might not be a textbook, pretty recovery path, because of my AGE. People usually raise their lip, put a snear on their face like "Age" is something dirty and vile. Hey I honestly don't think my continued existance is going to deplete the world's food reserves or affect the ozone layer. And like my totem animal, the bumblebee🐝who keeps flying although he is aerodynamically impossible because his wings are too short to hold up his fat little body, he just keeps flying and flying. We were going strong long before the Energizer battery bunny! Perhaps we knew no better, perhaps survival of the best? And every pound lost is a gain for ME , I started out a 28-30 Woman size, now solidly in a 20 and smaller sizes ahead! My Nurse Practitioner Valerie would be satisfied with anything below 200 pounds, said more might be straining it, my dream? 175 pounds and in a 15? Junior size. Why a Junior instead of a Missed size? Because for a Biggish girl, I am not busty! Many my weight are a D, DD or above- ME- I'm a C cup and might go down to a B before it's loss segueing into maintainable. I am truly an over- inflated sport or tomboy body, ortho who is also a sports medicine specialist says that is not logical, well I'm my case it is true. Even if you didn't set the universe on fire with weight loss, you are still 3 years older and better off!😝📝📆🍀

I have always thought so,anything to smooth out a very emotionally and difficult time, do you feel like
she is saying, even though she might. not phrase it this way "You haven't suffered enough, because you're fat, you have, not suffered sufficently yet!" That's the way many people in the outside🌎 act, like obesity is a choice we all made to cause them trouble and have our appearance to. only repulse them. My mama , bless her 💕and may she rest in,peace, overfed me as a baby. At 1 year,i was 35 inches tall and 36 pounds, where many people wear t- shirts that say BORN TO BE WILD, well mine literally can say BORN TO BE FAT, see at the end of WW II the thought was "Fat Babies are Healthy Babies" medicine has changed its mind since then, but I still am riding that tornado's tail all these years later. But day by day I slowly get thinner, I am going to Rock the Silver and Golden Citizen. 🌎right back on its heels! Varoom Varoom 🚕!

She's not being very supportive, but then again it's hard for others to understand our plight with obesity. Do what's best for you. It isn't the easy way out because the dieting continues for years after the surgery. The surgery doesn't magically make you skinny. It's a lot of work, but the surgery is just a tool that makes it a little bit easier to do the diet. I didn't tell anybody but my husband about my WLS because I didn't want to hear the judgers and the haters and making me feel like crap like I wasn't strong enough to do it on my own.

My highest weight was 420/421 and my surgery weight was 412. I'm now around 364 after hitting a stall at 375 that had me freaking out a bit. Just seeing 364 on a scale is mindblowing after not being in the 300s for so long. My 3 month post-op visit with my surgeon is this Thursday I'm hoping to have lost 50 lbs by that appointment though my official 3 month post-op date is on the 23rd. NSVs include wearing shoes that I couldn't years ago, moving into 3X clothing, and feeling (but not yet seeing) my collarbone. This whole process is still surreal. I hated being in the 300s but I'm so happy to be here now and will continue to work until I'm in the 200s. Who knows, I may even hit onederland! Congratulations, ladies, for continuing to smash your goals and don't forget to reap those Non-Scale Victories!

I had surgery July 2018 and was 390 at my heaviest. The day of surgery I was 368 and today I am 257. I have lost 133 pounds! Weight loss is definitely harder at 9 months out. I am trying to go to the gym three times a week, but I can’t always make it due to my work commute and kid obligations. My goal is to make it to 230 by my one year anniversary this summer, but I am almost doubting myself. I lost weight quickly during the honeymoon period so at five months I had already lost well over 100 pounds, but sticking to a plan and hoping for a positive outcome. The best part is dropping six pant sizes. I use to be a 26/28 and now size 16 in regular woman section. The biggest NSV has been able to fit and ride in a roller coaster after almost 18 years of riding one for the last time. I rode 4 roller coasters with my boys a few weeks ago at an amusement park. Looking forward to traveling in an airplane next week without having to use a seatbelt extender. Congrats to all on your success!
