  2. Happy 52nd Birthday moonchild713!

  3. OH I DON'T think you want the by pass! I know to many people that have gained back weight with it... U can stretch that pouch. My mother cousin lost like 90 and then started to eat and put 50 back on on by pass. We think the band keeps you on track. U will want something good to eat and u will have to have it... BUT the band will keep you from eating it all..... Just hang in there u will like the band. by pass is so much more involved....... Look what Ben lost in a year! U don't want it to come off to fast... Then you have skin stretched and hanging. slow and steady wins the race!!!! doctors will push you in that direction they did with me! NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! I have Ben friend you so you can talk to him!

    Hang in there

    Tammy:thumbup:

  4. This page confuses me! I guess I will learn more about it as I go. It would be great to talk to your son also! 100 pounds is amazing! I really hope I can do as well. I would really like to lose about 120 total w/o cheating. Now I am just wondering if I should opt for gastric bypass instead though...I don't want to be able to cheat. Given the opportunity, I might do it. I wish there were ways to prevent yourself from doing so. I have no will power, that's the really hard part. Any suggestions? TTYS...Jenn

  5. yeah this page is good and bad!!! My son thinks so to! He and his band are for real... and he says allot of of what he reads is about how you and cheat the band! boy that make him mad! He really has done well and is 100 lbs. off! tomorrow is his anniversary date for his band! he is 23. I can give you help, but he is like the poster child of this! Our Dr.(newlin) is en-pressed with how well he is doing. so any problems or questions just e him! I will have him friend you.... If you want! So that is great you passed on green light! I know they make you go do allot but I think it's a good thing. I know you have to be ready to do it. Oh boy I was such a baby about it! I was really up-set..... REALLY it was easy! I have had other operations and I thought it would be painful it really was not!!!! there is no internal pain. I had more problems with the gas they use to blow u up with so they can work! It was not that bad at all! Oh my name is Tammy by the way.....

  6. Hi Moonchild,

Thank you so much for responding to me, you were the one and only! My name is Jenn, and like I said I am 28 in NEPA. It's great to hear how well you are dooing! Keep it up!!! I just had an appointment today for my 4th month and I gained 3.8 pounds. But I found out I really only need to lose 10, that's do able! I also got the green light today from my dietician and I go back on Friday to get the rest of my surgery evaluation. I'm starting to get more and more excited! Hopefully I can have this done by August, I'm praying!!! TTYS...Jenn

you know I gave up the PEPSI and COKE long before I got banded. I really don't miss it. BUT I do love the ice tea! OK one vice for another! I will give the throwback a taste, JUST CAUSE!!!!!!!! I can't get into diet soda! I tried coke 0 yuck!!!!! I hate the after taste! as for the tea I drink it with sugar.... I know BAD but when I think of how bad the artifical sweetners are for you. I would rather take my chances with the real stuff!

    New

Hey I'm from Central PA. (altoona) welcome!!! Hopoe this page helps you. It has for me time to time.... I know its very hard to lose the pounds. I was lucky my insurance did not make me wait or lose any pounds befor hand. I did have to do a liver shrink diet 2 weeks before banding. but that was Dr.s orders and boy is that tuff! by the 3rd, day I was dreaming I was eating cake then would wake up in the morning wondering if I did it in my sleep... LOL!! now that the weather is getting better may be you could start walking and it may help you lose. I know it's hard that's how we end up getting th BAND! take care and keep working! Wait till you can get rid of those old FAT cloths and get new smaller ones! You know that was something I never thought about before I did all this! I said to the doctor "you did not tell me my closet would lose to" Also protien drinks after a walk or any exercise will help you to.... Turn off the hunger.... I was banded June 12, 2008 and have lost about 70 pounds. I'm 48 seems to come off the younger chicks faster! my son is 22 and he is banded a year tomarrow and lost 100!!!!! good luck e me any time. I check my e mail evey day unless I go out of town.......

    After Band eating questions

well I do have a few sips of water I always feel dry. I really don't think it does much. BUT if you have the stuck feeling your first thought is to drink something!!! NO! NO! NO! I did it a few times and OMG the pain of it all... I eat beef but really take my time and CHEW.... I eat a meat then a small bit of my other food on my plate. mix it up so to say. I know the rules say meat first. But if I eat all the meat first it's tuff going down. from what I read here every one has things that bother them more than others. When I was first banded I seen posts of people that could not eat shrimp... Oh Gezzz I was SAD. I love shrimp and was depending on it for protien. Well I was at a party and they had nice large steamed shrimp. I thought well here goes nothing. I took my time and really chewed it up and well it was fine! The P.A. @ my Dr.s office said the same thing seems like all the banders have diffrent things they can and can't eat. we were given a NO SHEET and I do think some of the food on it was something that MOST people had allot of trouble with. Be for you can be banded by the dr. who did mine and my son's you have to attend a seminar. The Dr. goes over allot of this and tells stories of some of the food he has had to go after with a scope! so you kind of LISTEN to that! Last thing you want is the Dr. to scope you!!! big no was white bread and white pasta, rice. He says it tends to form a ball of starch and blocks the opening... you know cause the band is like a funnel.... hope this helps!

ok going to ask pizza and pasta

Thin and crispy is the way to go... I have got the multi gain pizza's from pappa johns and pizza hutt... but the crust is still on the thick side. When we do pizza not to often may be once or twice month. I get pizza hutt thin supream. We get veggies & a little meat. It does not bother my son at all, but I have to really chew!!!!!!

    Food (Sushi) is evillll!

well I have been reading so many people can't eat shrimp! I know this is sushi related.. I have no trouble at all. I think the rice is the problem... If I eat just a little rice then it's on!!!!! you know what i mean! I just chew the shrimp very slow and take my time. BUT my PA at the doctors office told me we all react diffrent to diffrent foods... LIKE BREAD even multi grain KILLS ME! and my son can eat it with no problem! soooooo I guess it all a learning thing!
