  1. you know I gave up the PEPSI and COKE long before I got banded. I really don't miss it. BUT I do love the ice tea! OK one vice for another! I will give the throwback a taste, JUST CAUSE!!!!!!!! I can't get into diet soda! I tried coke 0 yuck!!!!! I hate the after taste! as for the tea I drink it with sugar.... I know BAD but when I think of how bad the artifical sweetners are for you. I would rather take my chances with the real stuff!
  2. Hey I'm from Central PA. (altoona) welcome!!! Hopoe this page helps you. It has for me time to time.... I know its very hard to lose the pounds. I was lucky my insurance did not make me wait or lose any pounds befor hand. I did have to do a liver shrink diet 2 weeks before banding. but that was Dr.s orders and boy is that tuff! by the 3rd, day I was dreaming I was eating cake then would wake up in the morning wondering if I did it in my sleep... LOL!! now that the weather is getting better may be you could start walking and it may help you lose. I know it's hard that's how we end up getting th BAND! take care and keep working! Wait till you can get rid of those old FAT cloths and get new smaller ones! You know that was something I never thought about before I did all this! I said to the doctor "you did not tell me my closet would lose to" Also protien drinks after a walk or any exercise will help you to.... Turn off the hunger.... I was banded June 12, 2008 and have lost about 70 pounds. I'm 48 seems to come off the younger chicks faster! my son is 22 and he is banded a year tomarrow and lost 100!!!!! good luck e me any time. I check my e mail evey day unless I go out of town.......
  3. wow I can do cereal...... I just have to take it slow. wha kind are you eating?
  4. well I do have a few sips of water I always feel dry. I really don't think it does much. BUT if you have the stuck feeling your first thought is to drink something!!! NO! NO! NO! I did it a few times and OMG the pain of it all... I eat beef but really take my time and CHEW.... I eat a meat then a small bit of my other food on my plate. mix it up so to say. I know the rules say meat first. But if I eat all the meat first it's tuff going down. from what I read here every one has things that bother them more than others. When I was first banded I seen posts of people that could not eat shrimp... Oh Gezzz I was SAD. I love shrimp and was depending on it for protien. Well I was at a party and they had nice large steamed shrimp. I thought well here goes nothing. I took my time and really chewed it up and well it was fine! The P.A. @ my Dr.s office said the same thing seems like all the banders have diffrent things they can and can't eat. we were given a NO SHEET and I do think some of the food on it was something that MOST people had allot of trouble with. Be for you can be banded by the dr. who did mine and my son's you have to attend a seminar. The Dr. goes over allot of this and tells stories of some of the food he has had to go after with a scope! so you kind of LISTEN to that! Last thing you want is the Dr. to scope you!!! big no was white bread and white pasta, rice. He says it tends to form a ball of starch and blocks the opening... you know cause the band is like a funnel.... hope this helps!
  5. Thin and crispy is the way to go... I have got the multi gain pizza's from pappa johns and pizza hutt... but the crust is still on the thick side. When we do pizza not to often may be once or twice month. I get pizza hutt thin supream. We get veggies & a little meat. It does not bother my son at all, but I have to really chew!!!!!!
  6. well I have been reading so many people can't eat shrimp! I know this is sushi related.. I have no trouble at all. I think the rice is the problem... If I eat just a little rice then it's on!!!!! you know what i mean! I just chew the shrimp very slow and take my time. BUT my PA at the doctors office told me we all react diffrent to diffrent foods... LIKE BREAD even multi grain KILLS ME! and my son can eat it with no problem! soooooo I guess it all a learning thing!
  7. I try it eat chicken that is WET and CHEW CHEW CHEW!~ I have done that and the sliming SUCKS! but it happens! I really slowed down eating and that helps.....
  8. + you need to shrink your liver so the doc has more room to work!

  12. Are drinking your water? I have my days!! sometimes all I want to eat is JUNK!!!!! just pull your self up and dust your self off! It's a new day!!!! It's hard!!!! REMEMBER the band is a tool to loose weight! you have to work at it to!!! You have to work with it.... I know how you feel I'm at a stand still in weight loss and all i want to do is eat junk! I noticed if I start eating carbs. I don't loose! soooo with that being said may be this will help.... I was banded in june of 08 and have lost 60 pounds. doctor is ok with it... I thought I would have lost more... but fat coming off slow is better!
  13. Oh & they have cut my bp meds in half. My fluid pill in half.. 20 more pounds the doc to taking the metformin away to....not that this applys to you but allot of my woman proplems have been inproving. You take off 40 pounds your knees and ankles will thank you! You need to talk to my son... He was banded in may and has lost almost 90 pounds.. He is 6'3" he lookd great. Yes i took would never do the bypass...... I think the band is a safe way to go. You want to pounds to come off slow ad steady
  14. HEY I know how you feel! I freaked out!!! As they were taking me down the hall I kept asking everyone PLEASE TELL MY WHY I"M DOING THIS! It's really not to bad! you just have pain from the small cuts. No in side pain!! Really! They worst was the gas from them pumping you up. Try to get out of bed asap to get that gas to disapait. I have had other operations this was CAKE! I know your up-set. BUT is is soooo worth it! I have lost 60 pounds since June. I feel better and have more energy. I have a bad back and it is really helping that. Really it's not tat bad. Just think how much better your feel riding!!!! I trying to get my husband to do it to! I got a new bike last year and fat bob! Mean looking bike and I know he would enjoy it so much more if he took some pounds off... You will be fine you just need to look for the good things that are going to happen to you. If you were not upset about it then I think I would worry.. Good luck!
